It was a day where one could just lie back and relax. At least it would be that sort of day if one was free to do what they wished. Jesenya stared longingly in the direction that she had remembered traveling before and sighed for what seemed like the millionth time. The mare had been foolish it seemed to not question more fully the strange stallion that had proclaimed that she had been trespassing on his family's lands. Jesenya had had no idea of what was to become of her life from that meeting forward. Had she had any inkling she would have galloped away as fast as her hooves could have carried her in the other direction. Now she was essentially stuck in a place by bonds that were invisible to all. Jesenya knew that the moment she tried to run off that the searchers would be sent after her. She had seen it occur a few times and the end result was not a favorable one.

It was the fear of knowing what could happen if she was caught that stayed her hooves from traveling out of the range she had been given. Lately it seemed as if the restrictions on her movements had been lifted and she viewed that as a sign that maybe she was earning liberties that others could only dream of obtaining. Was that considered a reward? The mare once again glanced up from her grazing before swallowing the mouthful of grass that she had just torn from the earth. Contemplative thoughts were never her forte. Instead Jesenya lowered her head once more to the ground to sample the flower that was growing under her hooves. There was never a day when her grazing would go uninterrupted and she wanted to get as much nutrition as she could in one session before she was called upon to do a task or chore.

Something was decidedly different. Jesenya had been picking up on subtle changes that had occurred over many weeks and she had decided to just make a mental picture of what seemed to be going on. For one who was silent and unobserved the mare had managed to piece together a route that would effectively allow her to escape unnoticed. However there was one thing missing from her plan; Courage. Every time that she thought about running she would balk suddenly at the prospect of freedom. It was true that she was afraid but there had also been some pleasant associations that she had created here. Would she possibly doom her new friends just for a shot to be free once more?
The mare stared down the direction that she needed to travel in before her mind went over her plan once more. She sighed heavily with nervousness and a small bit of anxiety. She needed to leave before the day was over.

There had been another piece of unpleasantness that she had overheard concerning herself that had caused her to rethink her decisions. She had overheard the leader, Horus, making plans about her future that she did not approve of; thus the hasty retreat.
Now she kept her head down. The gentle breeze that was blowing carried loose tendrils of her mane away from her expressive eyes as she took in the only avenue that led to her possible freedom. The route would not be an easy one to take and deep down Jesenya knew that if she was caught there would be possibly no second chances. It boiled down to now or never … and she NEVER wanted to return here again.
Taking one last, long look around Jesenya willed her muscles to move as she took off at a ground-eating canter. She would not be caught. She could make it out of here, or she would die trying.
