the moon's still bright
Eve was finally home. And gazing into the large mirror over the hedboard of her bed, feeling rare self-consciousness now that she was safe and in the company of her partner (who was fortunately mostly unharmed).
"I really didn't scare you? At all?"
Leila was quick to drape her arms around her wife's shoulders, affectionately pressing her forehead to the back of her neck: "Of course not. I don't even think I noticed?"
"But my ears are so pointy."
"Yeah, I like them."
"And my eyes are so yellow--"
"--and they glint in the dark." Leila tightened the embrace. "It's kinda sexy."
Eve relaxed, just a bit, and closed her eyes while leaning back into the hug. "But what about the tail, love?"
"Well, it's soft. And it matches your hair... and it tickles."
"You are ticklish, huh?" Eve didn't have to see the blush -- she could feel it. "Oh, but I have the claws, too. How do you feel about those?"
There was a very long pause.
"...I was waiting for you to ask."

have a seat
Things were back to normal. Actually, it was just Eve that was back to normal, relatively speaking. Her claws and tail had vanished overnight, ears were back to being round, and her legs were back to being numb and motionless. As they went about their morning, Leila asked how she was feeling.
"Better," Eve sighed. "Walking isn't worth it if it's going to be that painful. Do you have any advice for me today?"
Leila peered over from her bowl of oatmeal. "No. Looks like your fate is in your hands today, Evey." It was a joke wrapped in a platitude, but both layers of the statement was equally sincere. Her wife deserved a day she was in control of.
