After nearly hurting himself again from pushing himself too hard in the park with America, one would have thought Shun might have learned a lesson or two about taking it easy.

Not really.

He at least did keep in mind that what he could do was a bit more limited than usual. He should stay away from the punching bags for the time being, for one. Some time was taken to meander around the gym to get a feel for what his options were. Some of the weight machines should be good, he supposed.

Hopefully there wouldn't be too much magic nonsense here. There's been quite enough of that recently, and he was hoping to have some semblance of normalcy here. These hopes were dashed when he came close to bumping into a very familiar figure with a prosthetic leg as he came around one corner. He managed to avoid an actual collision, thankfully. That, and the guy was much less hairy than when he last saw him.

"Ah, you..."

Lucas was also not a shining beacon of how to take care of one's self. His chest still wrapped in bandages - hidden behind a black work out tank, mind you - he was tired, worn, but he needed to get back into a regime or he was going to lose his ever loving mind.

Though he usually favored a realistic leg prosthetic, the one he wore to the gym made him look a bit different, a companion to his metal arm. It helped him to balance better and didn't hurt so much when he did his jumping exercises (he did not skip leg day, even if he only had one) and it seemed a better idea than trying to lift weights that could tear his wounds open again. He was rounding to get some water when he almost ran into a familiar face, doing a jump-dance backwards and to the side to cease that collision.

Pale eyes blinked at the other, a far cry from the red iris he had the last time they met. "Shun, wasn't it?" His voice was a little terse, but he wasn't exactly guarded then. "Good to see you're okay. I don't -- really know what happened to everyone." His lips quirked in a strained smile. It wasn't exactly a positive or fun memory to recollect.

Pulling the towel off his shoulder, he wiped the back of his neck. "Everything...work out?"

Given that the wounds on his left arm were less severe, there was no longer any bandage there. The marks left behind from a werewolverine's claws digging into his flesh were still very much visible, however. Everything else was covered up.

Shun nodded slowly in turn, regarding Lucas a little warily. While he was well aware that he had been one of the lucid werefolk during that entire mess, he was still a stark reminder of how everything he knew was being flipped over onto its back. It wasn't a pleasant thing for him to think about.

"Wo--Lucas," he greeted after a moment or so, "And same to you, I suppose. It was a hell of a night. Things are... going. Just trying to get back into my normal routine."

And pretending that certain new developments never happened.

"...You?"

A thin smile curved the man's lips. "Wolf is fine," he replied, amicable but tight, "Lucas Reis, veteran, prosthesis user, werewolf. It's a hell of a resume." Pale eyes turned briefly over the man's visible wounds but he was not going to comment on them if the detective wasn't going to. He could play pretend as well as anyone. Compartmentalizing was a specialty.

"Same, actually. I," he hesitated, and then sighed. Why not? The guy was a detective, he probably knew the injury count more than anyone. "I spent the last days of the full moon in the hospital, my significant other was badly wounded - one of the worst, that survived." His jaw clenched, thinking of the man back home that was sleeping soundly. "Between that and my own going-ons, I'm just trying to get some normalcy back. As normal as a man like me can be."

Lucas thumped his prosthetic arm and shrugged, tapping the curved end of his leg piece after. "I was gonna get a water. We can talk, if you want, or...I can disappear from your hair. Detective."

"Shun Kuroda. Sergeant at the local Police Department," he offered in turn. He lifted his head a bit when Lucas mentioned veteran in his list of things. It made him feel better to know that he was an actual army dude rather than... just some 'soldier' in a weird cult. That thought had made him a little uneasy.

Shun folded his arms for the moment, looking over Lucas. The guy moved around pretty well considering.

"Normalcy seems like a thing of a past after all that. You did not receive too much trouble at the hospital did you?" he asked. He wasn't sure how long the... werewolf appearance lasted exactly. But he didn't recall hearing about any of the such showing up at the hospital. As far as Lucas's offer went... the Detective wasn't normally one to be very chatty but...

"I suppose it may not hurt to talk a little. Just as long as we are not standing around for it. I have been idle too long."

The werewolf motioned for Shun to follow. "I just need a drink. If you need a spotting partner, I can help you. I'm just here to run today."

He walked easily around towards the area where the drinks were sold, glancing over his shoulder. "The hospital didn't really look at me. A lot of people go in and out, especially in a crisis. I was just a weirdo in a jacket and a hood. No one can judge me on that, and none really looked at my face when they were working on patients." Lucas shrugged, pulling his wallet out of his work out shorts and motioning for Shun to pick something if he wanted. "Honestly, I was the last of my worries. A lot of people were hurt."

Lucas looked to the man again. "It was a lot to take in, Sergeant. If I can...fill in any blanks, I'd be happy to help. Not knowing drove me nearly mad, I can't imagine how a man in your position is dealing with it."

"Fair enough."

It was probably for the better that no one really looked too hard at Lucas there. Otherwise there probably would be even more paperwork to deal with back at the precinct. Not to mention a bunch of other potential issues out of that.

He stepped aside, shaking his head, letting Lucas have free reign of the vending machine.

"Hellish," he muttered. He hadn't quite gone back to work full time since he was supposed to be taking it easy, but he knew how much needed to be waded through regarding that night. "I am still trying to piece everything together. There are a lot of unanswered questions for just about everything. I am not certain even you would have answers for them."

Considering that the weres didn't seem to know too much more about the ones that had gone mad.

Shrugging again, Lucas pressed for water, leaning down to scoop up his reward and uncap it. Listening to Shun, he took a deep swig, patting his face with the towel again before recapping the bottle. "Maybe," he agreed, "but I think I'm probably the one that knows the most, out of the four of us." He wore a smile, faint and unhappy. "Mostly because I ask a lot of questions. I don't like being kept in the dark or accepting anything at face value."

Motioning back towards the heart of the gym, he indicated they could return. "Not exactly the usual soldier fare, but, I've spent my time serving without questions. And this? This s**t is way beyond me." Lucas shook his head in wonder, running his good hand over his ponytail. "But I'll answer what I can. If I can. I'm still...putting all the pieces together, myself. It's a big ******** puzzle, you know?"

He chuckled, but it was humorless. They were both just going through the motions, two guys trying to find some footing in an unforgiving storm.

Despite the fact that Lucas was one of the werefolk, Shun could see that he wasn't really too far off from how he felt about all of this. It was a small comfort.

"Not a bad quality to have. This is beyond any of us, honestly," he sighed as he made his way to some of the equipment. Looking down at his arm, he rubbed it lightly, considering his options. It was still sore, and he didn't often bench press but... Well. If he was going to have a spotter, he might as well give it a shot.

He set up the weights, starting a little on the light side.

"When did you find out about ... being a werewolf?" he asked, doing a few more stretches before sitting on the bench.

Lucas dropped his water bottle next to the machine, rolling his shoulders and stretching his arms out in front of him, folding his fingers with a resounding crack. "Not all of us. The Detective you work with supposedly knows a lot." He didn't sound one way or the other about it - but he could only assume, if Lady mentioned him.

He clasped the bar as Shun stretched, watching him carefully for signs of hidden trauma or pains that he wasn't sharing. Being with two stubborn men, it was becoming a gift to read body language. "When a lady with long red hair appeared on my bed in the wee hours of the morning and made my good hand turn into a paw." The smile he cracked was not at all joking. "Wish I was making that up, but I'm not. Though, I didn't know what I was turning into until a handful of days before the full moon."

His smile faded, a pursed frown taking its place. "We weren't given information at the onset, though the uh...critter in the other place said we should have been informed." Lucas remembered Sunny calling Lady a child, discomfort settling in his chest. "It's about as much of a bang up job as you can expect from teenagers in a horror movie."

Ah yes. Jeremiah. The guy certainly did seem to know a good amount of information regarding all of this. He still needed to speak with him. Hopefully, he'll be able to get some answers about all of this too.

Shun certainly was being careful as he had stretched. As much as he tried to hide his pain, it was difficult to completely mask it, especially if someone knew what to look for. As Lucas answered him, he just paused and stared at the man for a moment.

"She broke into your house? This was the really tall one that just appeared to create a ******** portal for the rest of the weres to go through, is she not?"

Well that sounded messed up on multiple levels.

"And what critter?"

Once he felt he was ready, he went ahead and laid down, getting into position. Reaching up, he took the bars in hands and drew in a deep breath.

The incredulous look was met with a laugh, shrugging with his arms up in a 'what can I say?' gesture. "No, man, she literally appeared on my bed and disappeared. Nothing broken into. There one second and not the next." The additional part gave Lucas pause, subtly shaking his head. "I don't -- know, I was hurt by then. I had to go. You'd know better than me 'bout what happened, since none of my Pack have really gotten in contact with me." That gave Lucas pause, brows pinching for a moment. "Guess they're still not happy with me for not going along with the plan."

His hands settled in a safe spacing on the bar, settling his weight into his foot and prosthetic leg, nodding that Shun could start if he wanted. "This is going to be putting you a bit in the deep end, but -- there's this golden stag-like creature, in the Otherworld. Calls himself The Prideful One. We got a brief introduction and he threw us back into Ashdown, which is how we all just kinda appeared where you all were."

The glance gave Shun was apologetic. He knew this couldn't be easy. "Lady is tall, though. She took the name 'Lady' from me shouting at her for turning my hand into a beast." Lucas grimaced a little, remembering that he'd also managed to strike her during that time. "If she had bruises on her hand, was definitely her."

So the woman could apparently teleport. Or something. He supposed he could have guessed that much since he definitely hadn't seen her enter the library or anything like that on that night. That was mildly unsettling to think about.

"You were the only who disagreed with the portal idea," he recalled. For the spiel, he had been more of a bystander watching, with no clue or input on what the best action to take would be. Jeremiah had assured him that the lot would be able to leave on their own but... he still wasn't entirely certain about all of that.

"I hope you realize how ridiculous that sounds."

Prideful One. Had this conversation taken place before the library, he would have thought Lucas had a wild imagination. Things were different now. There was still doubt in the back of his mind. It was hard to believe all of this.

That said, he lifted the bar up to move it off of its resting spot. He kept his arms outstretched for a moment, then went to do a couple test-reps to see how it felt. His arm and chest weren't too happy with it, but he didn't think it was anything he couldn't handle in the meantime.

"For what we were told -- or me, at least -- turning here is bad. When there's a solution or an easy fix, there's usually a quick amendment when you're giving someone instructions. A, 'hey you might go ******** crazy but if you can get to the Otherworld, you'll revert,' but that was never said." Maybe that was apparent only to him. Working in ordnance, there were plenty of times he was given instruction without an alternate solution if things went bad. Game over. "Besides, there's ways in -- but there's ways out. There was no saying that portal wouldn't close and the Alpha would find some way out and wreak havoc somewhere we couldn't contain him." But he's dead now. Lucas kept that part quiet, not because he didn't want to share, but because the cops were going to find the body soon. Implying he knew would put him in a bad position.

A faint laugh escaped him, relaxing his hands as Shun tested the weight, alert and watching. "It's even more ridiculous to live, I assure you, Sergeant. I hope you never have to meet his sibling, The Peaceful One -- Pax. It has a form on this side and I nearly took a wall out of my friend's apartment trying to get away in terror." The smile he wore was rueful, but vaguely amused at how naive he'd been.

"I should probably try to find it and apologize." He paused. "And saying that is weird."

Shun couldn't really talk as he did a few more reps, taking it slow. While he could normally handle something heavier, he decided that it was best to not add any more weights for now. He continued to listen to the vet, before setting the bar back in place with a light hiss. Yeah, it hurt.

"Do you think it would have been better to try and neutralize him in some other manner?" he asked. Up until Mercer had his plan with the elevator, he was just about ready to resort to deadly force. Things had been looking very bad at the time.

"...Also noted. It sounds like you lot truly got the short end of the stick. Risking going insane like that each month."

He relaxed himself a bit, letting the pain die down some before preparing himself to go again.
