Shun was really itching to get back into the swing of things. He still needed to be a little cautious, but he still wanted to try and toe the line as far as how much he could push himself. The Sergeant really didn't like being idle for too long, and as far as he was concerned, it already was too long. Sitting around only gave him more time to dwell on things he didn't really want to think about much. Like the possibility of magic being a very real thing, as well as the fact that he could apparently move things with his mind.

And thus he was out jogging lightly through the park. He felt a slight tug at his healing wounds, but he pressed on... just not too hard.

He did not want to extend his healing time.

As far as America was concerned she was healed enough. The best part of being injured or sick was the excuse to be pampered and indulged by pretty much anyone in the vicinity she could sad-eye into it. But that part had passed she was so done with it. She needed to move and get out for more than just getting to and from work.

Plus Mr. Bitterberry seemed so enjoy following along when she ran, screeching out encouragements that she liked to interpret as salty aggro coach. The sort that shouts s**t like, PAIN IS JUST THE FEELING OF WEAKNESS LEAVING YOUR BODY!

He probably wasn't, she'd admit. He seemed to have a drying humor, though Taym might disagree.

The bird had flown ahead of her as she jogged through the park, probably pushing a bit harder than she should, but it was sweat sticking her top to her back, not blood from re-opened wounds. Good enough.

Turning onto a different path, America found herself running alongside Detective Kuroda. With a cheery grin, she greeted him, "Hey! Good to see you up an at 'em!"

In the trees above, the bluejay screeched likely criticisms.

Things were pretty quiet on the trail. Shun wasn't even sure if anyone else was around. However, he heard some light steps from somewhere behind, and soon enough he had America coming up right besides him. Initially, he just grunted at her in greeting.

"Of course. Hate being idle for too long," he muttered. As he heard the bird calling as well, he looked up and around, spotting the bluejay nearby.

"That bird always follow you now or something?"

He recalled it flying around her at the library.

"Yeah, it's like magic stuff!" America's answer was happily matter-o-fact.

"But not like...GRRR! magic stuff," she assured him quickly. "I can see through his eyes sometimes." She wasn't quite bragging. She also was only speeding up just a little bit. Not enough to like, race him, gosh. Just to, you know, be a little ahead.

That's all.

Shun furrowed his brow at that. He didn't really like hearing about more magic stuff. His experiences weren't... too great with it thus far.

"See through its eyes?" he repeated, "No ill-adverse effects?"

He took note that she was moving up ahead of him, and so his own speed picked up to match her in the very least.

She sped up just a little more, not even thinking about it now as she considered the question. "Well, not at first. But now that I'm like....doing it on purpose? I get headaches, but they go away after a bit. Probably just need to practice more or something, right Mr. Bitterberry?" She called up as the bird once again flew ahead of her.

The bird screeched, which she took as confirmation.

"See? It'll be fine! Magic's not all...scary violence n'stuff." She huffed as she spoke, and realized she was going at a pace a bit quicker than she'd managed in the past couple days, but not willing to slow down.

His gaze darted between the bird and the girl by him, as he sped up a little once more. Bitterberry? Really?

"Magic is not supposed to exist in the first place. There is no logical explanation for it," he huffed out. Shun lightly gritted his teeth as he continued to keep pace with her. He was probably pushing himself more than he should, really.

"Violent or not."

Like hell she was gonna loose. She pushed a little harder, thinking of the little baggie of painkillers and just to that cluster of trees, okay. Just to that bench. Just to the sign beyond.

"No logic behind normal s**t either," she grit out. "I grew up in Florida." As if that explained everything bizarre and irrational about the not magic world.

"You takin' it hard, then?"

Shun knew that Floridians were a little crazy, but just that statement alone was kind of illogical. It was beginning to really hurt now, but he pressed on anyway. This really was not good for his body. He was well aware of this. But that did not stop him at all.

"Taking what hard? The magical s**t?" he hissed, "How am I supposed to take it?"

"It's cool! Like..." she panted, more from ache than exhaustion, "...science has all sorts of scary s**t to it...but it's cool! It's-" And here there's a startled squawk, as Mr. Bitterberry lands on her shoulder with an indelicate wingslap to the face. <******** my...you little...!" She's laughing as she slows, even as her expression turns into a grimace as the pain of too hard too soon made itself loud and clear. "Aw s**t...damnit..."

With a groan and loud huff, she pointed at Shun. "Magic is cool."

As he ran, Shun was hissing through his teeth in pain. When he heard America yelp a bit, he glanced over to see that the bird had landed on her shoulder. And he too was pretty much forced to slow down around the same time. He took a few moments to collect himself, closing his eyes as he was trying to mentally push down the pain.

"...I. I beg to differ," he huffed out, placing a hand at his side.

"It is... not cool."

"Is...too!" She scowled for a moment, but couldn't keep the smile away for too long.

"You just gotta...have a good experience. Know both sides...jesus..." Even with the pain, she tried to stretch a little to help her body cool down from the run. "Aren't you a detective? Don't just...convict magic on partial evidence."

Shun let out a low grunt at that as he gingerly rubbed his sore side that was very unhappy with the way he just pushed himself.

"I am not...convicting anything," he hissed out, "But you cannot...deny how dangerous it is. It needs to be handled...carefully. ********, can you even do that without... knowing what it really is or is capable of?"

He paced about, trying to walk it off.

"I know it's dangerous," she griped at him, pulling one arm over her head with much more care and consideration that she'd have needed had she been like, 30% more responsible five minutes ago.

"And I've...gotten scared, too! But that doesn't make the cool things...the stuff to get curious and excited about, like, those are still...right here too. Aren't you curious 'bout them? What's possible?"

"We might as well be children playing with guns," he stated darkly. As he moved about gingerly, he took a moment to consider her question, as well as to recover a bit more. Curious? Well. He supposed he was a little curious.

"I honestly do not know how I feel about it. Other than wary. I am uncertain if humans were really meant to comprehend s**t like this."
