Ugh....he couldn't escape her this time. Kei had been hounding him for training but it still somehow felt....too soon. Though, he knew between being a rebel and...well...Chiara it wasn't. Still...it didn't feel quite right fighting his twin. How would her lusus feel seeing the two sparring? Ugh...best keep him out of it. Zariah looked at his pen-knife, twisting it between his fingers nervously. Maybe just a fist fight would make more sense....he didn't like the idea of accidently giving his twin a scar....even IF she would totally be proud of it. Maybe he should tell her about everything with Chiara....about everything he'd done with the rebels....he still hadn't told her about the tattoo or chip, but she always seemed....too busy to bother with such things....maybe after he got the chip removed....but he still ddin't know what to do about the words on his wrist. AHHH!! He wished there were other 'siblings' he could ask for advice on how to deal with such things....he didn't know if he'd ever figure it out.

He couldn't escape her this time. Her brother was older and clearly had kept many secrets from her. He owed her to be able to defend those secrets. He owed her training. And he had evaded her long enough. Obviously, she didn't feel right using her sword against him - he was her brother, and she didn't want to really hurt him, even in training. Fortunately, she had a better idea.

"Zariah, we are going to practice using thine weapon." she said, taking out a pen knife of her own from her armory. She knew she could (probably) use it effectively, and it would be good for him to fight against his own weapons. It made for better understanding of the weapon. For him. And for her.

And maybe she, in turn, would finally understand him. Truly, honestly, understand the troll that had curled with her in her egg, had hatched with her, who she had found and rescued and who she cared about in a way that was difficult to explain.

Her shield rested at her back as she took up a knife-fighting stance. "Come at me, Zariah." she said, beckoning. She wanted to see just what he could do.

His weapon....Zariah looked at his pen-knife rubbing his neck a bit sheepishly. He won his last fight with just his fists...but that was certainly something he would never tell Kei...it was probably for the best that she had...limited knowledge about Zari's relationship with the blueblood, he wasn't so unawares that he didn't see how much the two disliked eachother. Once again though it felt like Kei was seeing him as merely some side character in her story, it wasn't until his fight with Chiara that he'd realized how much that effected his own mental image of himself. The realization still left him a little shellshocked.

"Right," he demurred. His blood pusher really wasn't in it. His mind still reeling from the events with the blueblood. There were so many things he should honestly tell his twin....unsure how she would react. Would she help him find someone to remove the chip from his arm or be angry he never told her? Would she support him and Chiara or be angry about it? It seemed like every chance he got he hid something from his twin...maybe it was just his way to have something solely his. s**t...his mind seemed to just go into overdrive when facing off against someone. "If....if you win this I'll tell you about it....but if I win I want you to help me with something.....no questions asked," he said nervously. There, leave it up to fate. Either way he would ask her to help him find someone to remove the chip in his wrist.

Zariah seemed to want to use this for something, not for the training that Keionx knew he so desperately needed. "This is a training match." she admonished him as she dodged his attack, "This is not the place for..." secrets and deals... she had been about to say, but she stopped herself. She returned to a ready stance and regarded him carefully... cautiously.

That was right. He had secrets. He had something he had never shared with her, not at all. It hurt to know that, but perhaps this was a chance to fix that, to share something. When would another such oppurtunity arise? When would her brother next speak to her?

When would she next have a way to motivate him to fight her properly?

She knew she had to take it.

"Very well." she said, face expressionless but intense, "I accept thy terms!" Quick as a hissbeast, she struck at him with the pen knife. "En Garde!"

Zariah started at her quick response, the hurt showing clear in his face. "R-right..." he murmured, stepping back from her a bit, tempted to just make a run for it before even really fighting her. "Right....you want to train....it's not important. It's fine. Ch--" he broke off, reeling back as he mentally scolded himself for almost saying her name. "S-someone else will help," he muttered, voice trailing into nothing. How quickly he forgot his role in her story. He was the supporting role...make her look better, make her a better hero....he was her foil, everything she wasn't, everything that made her look all the more heroic and brave. ********. He'd already gone through those thoughts fighting Chiara, did they REALLY need to return so soon? At least with Chiara he knew at the end of the day Zariah was the one that interested her....she wasn't interested in being a part of Keionx's heroic tale....she settled for Zariah's little nothing of a story. Well, if he trusted Chiara to find him a medic to remove the chip she would be thrilled....hell if he'd posed it like he had to Kei she would've been excited for the new secret AND brawl....ugh, maybe he'd just gotten too used to interacting with the blueblood.

"N....no more distractions...just sparring," he agreed, swiping weakly at her with his pen knife. Somehow his blood pusher just wasn't in it....

Keionx was taken aback at his comment, and at the hurt on his face. What had she said? What had he thought she said? Her brother was an enigma. Every time she tried to know him, he drifted further. Every time she tried to draw him into her world, he appeared as a shadow, something closed. She knew so little about him, and he didn't let her know more.

A sudden flash of fury pushed her forward, a move with a knife, a proper attack. "And now you don't want my help?!" she said, angry, an anger which faded as soon as it rose.

"And the training... it is for you." she said, some of the spirit gone from her voice. This would get nowhere. Again, he would close up to her. Again, he would remain an enigma. He had, she realized suddenly, been this way all the time she had known him.

And she hadn't really noticed until now.

"Because you're RIGHT! It's a training match. Not the place for who knows what!" he snapped, the hurt evident in his tone. "Please don't tell me this is for my sake. You're the hero, not me!" he bit out, forgoing the pen to instead slam his shoulder into her, topping his twin with some obviously pent up agression. His face scrunched into a mixture of anger and sorrow, frustration written in every inch of his body. "It's fine..." he murmured quieter, calming himself quickly as he offered a hand to help his twin up. "I think.....I think I've....maybe found my OWN story...maybe I'm not the hero....maybe I never will be....but I can handle my own problems I guess....and YOU were the one that was reluctant....I only asked because....we don't HAVE to have two seperate stories..." he said, brows knitting together. He could wait some time to tell her his problems...he'd solve them first and figure out a way to tell her....somehow he felt it wasn't worth the trouble she would surely cause. It was HIS story now....and surely he wasn't the hero, but there were trolls like Chiara that found him just as interesting or moreso than Keionx.

His attack - an impressive one, an assessing part of her determined - knocked her to the ground, rendering her speechless in surprise. She hadn't expected it from him, him of all people. But this state lasted only for a moment. "It tis for your sake!" she said, harsher than she had intended. Who else's sake would it be for? Hers? She trained constantly, and she trained hard. One could not just be heroic. One had to work to live up to their ideals. Such was the way of ideals. She ignored his hand and stood up on her own, giving the pen knife a flick as she resumed the fighting stance. She wasn't sure if she was angry or saddened, or what she was angry or saddened about, all she knew was that she felt something strongly, and that she had to express it or burn to cinders from within.

"Zariah!" she declared, brandishing the knife, "How can you say that?! Of course thou art the ******** hero!" She rushed at him, attacking. The knife was not her weapon of choice, but she still had some skill with it."That's why you need to train! That's why you need to be strong!"

"Such a hero you don't have faith in my own strength, ability to survive, or even ability to chose my own friends!" he snapped, gritting his teeth. Ugh, she hit him hard with that last blow, but he swung back just as hard. He wasn't letting up. He suddenly felt he had to win, to beat her, show that he wasn't just that same scared troll she found sobbing in a pool of his lusus' blood. "You're saying it yourself! You don't think I'm strong, you always need to protect me. Do you need to be watching for something to happen in my life? For me to get stronger? Haven't we seen I get up to PLENTY without you hovering!" Why did he keep speaking! He didn't hate Kei, he was barely even angry with her....but he always felt so USELESS! And she SAW him as useless, as someone needing constant protection. He couldn't tell her about his brawl with Chiara and how he'd beaten her both physically AND mentally...he felt even more closed off towards her than usual. ******** lusus was fretting.....he could see the large lusus pace nervously. Maybe it was because they were fighting....maybe it was the raised voices. ******** would apologize later...maybe he needed some time apart from her?

"Yes!" she snarled at him, "Yes, yes, yes."

"And no!"
She shoved at him, a low move but... "What have you done? Tell me, because I remember learning that my twin got himself trapped! Imprisoned!" She didn't realize she was crying, even when the hot tears seared her face. "Thy story has always been separate, and I never knew it, but... " Beastdad rumbled something, something uneasy, something confused. He didn't understand.

"I remember going with thee to break my father out of prison." she said, "I remember nearly losing you both, and nearly not knowing that thou wert lost at all..." she came at him again, seemingly disregarding the fact that she was using a blade that could injure and hurt. "Beastdad trusted me, and he trusted thee, and it was not enough to help thee..." She pulled back, panting, "So thou needs to be stronger, because a weak hero will never come home..."

Zariah's cheeks burned brightly with rage. "What did I do? What I DO?!" He was getting more angry and his tears matched Kei's own, spilling on his cheeks with little realization save the clouded vision. "I SURVIVED! That's all I ever do! I survive and I HIDE! I let you hide me away in the ******** mountains, now I'm hidden away in a ******** SWAMP! I LET you do these things with this stupid mentality that you're protecting me, saving me, all the while building up your damned EGO!" She had a blueblood that would do that for her now.....they both did. He only knew his own well enough to know that Chiara was healthier for him than continuing to stay in Keionx's shadow. Chiara let him be free....let him live, he didn't have the heavy crushing weight of an overabundant concern! Sure the blueblood wanted him safe and alive....but she never smothered him...well....sometimes in her own stubborn way of wanting him to stay with her...Kei's overbearing seemed to have gotten him used to the feeling.

Zariah's fingertips found the baggy sleeve and he tugged it around his hand. He wanted her to know....it was only right....but at the moment he felt more seperated from her than ever before. "You have all these friends...you go out....you're the big hero protecting everyone. I stay in the hive like some ******** princess guarded by a dragon from intruders," he hissed, seething at the thought. She wasn't a hero to him. Not right now. She was exactly like those dragons in stories, keeping a weak little troll high up in a tower where no one could touch him or so much as look at him.

"I AM!" she said, her voice rising along with her temper. What was this? What in the name of blade and boot was she doing? "I WAS. And then you went out and you did things and you pulled me into this and..." she trailed off into a hiss of pain and anger - he'd hit her well. His knifework was good. But his verbal blades had struck her far deeper than any knife.

Her face glowed with anger, her muscles tensing as she stood, shaking, pen knife in hand. "A DRAGON?! A DRAGON, Zari?!"

Beastdad caught the change in tone and approached, the low moan of his voice soothing, reconciliatory. Come on, now, he said, come on, this was no place for...

"A... a dragon?!" Keionx ignored her father. How could she have lived alongside this other troll, been born from the same egg as this other troll, care about this troll as much as she did, and yet apparently have never witnessed the same life?!

"DOST THOU WANT TO SEE ME BE A DRAGON, ZARI?!" she snarled, teeth bared, "FINE!" she ran at him, no longer playing or assessing. How dare he say those things? She'd protected him. She'd kept him alive. She'd hidden him. And then he'd gone off on his own adventures without telling her anything. What right did he have to resent her so much?! What right did he have to say those things?! When she was only trying to help him?!

Zariah's knife slipped through his fingers as his head snapped towards the lusus' pained, concerned howl, the look of horror crossing his face as the blood of his own lusus flashed in his mind. He stumbed back as Keionx's attack raged, unbuffeted by the sound. She didn't know. She couldn't know. The way that pained sound could haunt a troll for years to come. And HE was the one that needed protection....he knew the risks. He had SUFFERED from his consequences while she remained BLISSFULLY unaware. Everything just turned out SO well for her! The only times she'd felt HURT it seemed was with that 'thief' she ranted about!

"I didn't pull you into s**t! You don't want to be here then LEAVE! I don't need your ******** protections! Go crawl back to the Queen, beg her to let you serve her as her LOYAL knight! Some of us in this ******** swamp actually BELIEVE in what we stand for." He wouldn't go back...but nothing stopped her. "You sure as hell act like a dragon sometimes so you tell me! What stories have you read where knights keep someone hidden far from society?" He'd never felt so caged....even in that hive that was so risky just entering and exiting he could always find a way out with minimal bruising. But being near her when she WASN'T off adventuring....it felt stiffling.
