She looked MUCH more.....proper. Miache grinned as he eyed the new look. While her plain black dress....yes...suited her well enough...she was well overdue for an upgrade. "Now....as for your hair," he said, but he paused. He would need more equiptment to tackle that squeak-beast mess. Maybe he could properly curl her hair....maybe braids. "Well, when we return to the Outpost we can fix something up I'm sure. But I'll need more tools to tame that beast you CLAIM is some sort of.....'hair'." Miache passed his own hair over his shoulder, combing fingers easily through the silky locks as if to prove his own point. Though....it was a little unintentional. Rather he braided the long hair, pulling strands out of his face so it wouldn't be in his way. "Now....care to test out how you feel about your new 'battle garb'?" he asked teasingly. His own attire wasn't exactly made for battles....but it was fine, it was just a sparring match between the two trolls. Plus he didn't expect she would really be THAT much of a handful.

Shield - Adept Defense B Artifact: Nullify 2/2 3 damage dealt! Keionx was very pleased at her new attire - she would grudgingly admit to looking at herself in the mirror many times in the store and admiring her new outfit. Maybe ( maybe) Miache had been right about her plain black dress. Now she looked much more heroic and was much more protected. She was grinning - she couldn't help it. She was already having fun... And then he suggested a sparring match. Her eyes, already bright and enthusiastic, positively blazed. "Gladly!" she said, turning to face him and rolling her shoulders as he made himself ready, "Thou art gracious to offer thyself in a testing match!" she teased, "So gracious, I hope thy doth not mind if I strike first!" And with that ample warning, she made the first move... with the flat of her sword, of course.

He cringed at the weight of the blade. Yes, it was a firm reminder that it WAS military grade steel. Fair enough. "Of course," he smirked, "A gentleman always offers the lady the upper hand," he answered pleasantly. He would be lying if he said he wasn't eager to fight with her again....on less unpleasant terms. There was just something....oddly endearing about the orangeblood....perhaps with how much she challenged him. If nothing else it certainly got him outside his comfort zone. Hell, he was stuck in a swamp until the whole mess with was sorted out...yet he was certain even knowing the outcome he would've made the same decision a second time.....perhaps that was just his own hubris though.
Miache swung wildly with his cane, more to put distance than anything else. Given the room to move he was certain he was more graceful than the battle-minded orangeblood...and he would certainly show her PROPER dancing to prove that one day. "I am a knight!" she declared - his comment about squire aside, "But, tis true, thou art a gentleman." her next swipe missed him... so far, so good. The armor appeared to fit her well. But only more fighting would truly tell. "But thou are not fighting as one! Get thy s**t together, Miache!" she said, shaking her head at his flailing.

"You can't be both? Why Keionx, I took you for a more deep character than simply one dimentional," he smirked, casually side-stepping her attack. As he stepped away from the swing he hooked his cane low, the crook catching on her further foot to cause her a stumble, his grin widening in an obvious sneer. It wasn't much, but enough to be a clear annoyance to her. In all honesty he wasn't worried so much about a win or loss, he was fine to throw the match to her or to graciously accept the win. Either way he was certain it would hit her pride a little too hard. That was one thing he enjoyed about the orangeblood, she made it so easy to tease and poke fun at her. He felt like a wriggler with his first black crush....pig-tail pulling and name calling. "You wound me Keionx, I couldn't bare to defeat a lady, how unbecoming of a gentleman to embarass his female companion, wouldn't you say?" Kei certainly seemed to have a view on what she felt a gentleman was, but Miache lived by his own rules. After he betrayed the crown he had to start making up his own rules as he went along, the prior rules being an outdated thing...and besides.....he liked the idea he had such simple control over the orangeblood's emotions, she didn't make it hard to get under her skin.DraconicFeline 17/20 hp +1 to dmg for military weapon 1 + 1 dmg dealt

She gave him a reproachful glare as she re-attained her balance and swiped at him. That was very ungentlemanly a thing to do. "If thou wishest me to be other than a hero, then what are you?"
"Also, if you beat me, then it doesn't speak well for the armor that you chose for me, does it?" she added with a smirk.

"Many things to different trolls," he shrugged simply. "I'm certain many others have their own mental image of me, I prefer to see myself a gentleman, though I couldn't care less to try to make others agree with my view," he paused as he slipped out of her sword's way again. That blade smarted, even if she wasn't trying for any real last damage, he would happily avoid it where possible. "Some trolls see me only for my....fondness for cleaning, others see me as refined, some still see me as a royalist, I'm sure." His face scrunched a bit at the thought. It was....difficult in his mind. He still felt as though he SHOULD be loyal to the empress....it was....proper, what a normal troll of his stature SHOULD do...what a normal GENTLEMAN should do, defend his queen....and yet he couldn't turn his back on the trolls that had somehow gotten close to him. Keionx could clearly defend herself....but he would rather if he could be there to do it for her.
"Ahhh, fight harder, but don't try to win? Keionx, you truely are a picky troll," he sighed as though exasperated. Miache swerved behind her to rap his cane against one of the solid plates at her back. "Don't blame the armour for your lack of preparedness," he answered, grinning. "You seem less graceful the more you're angered," he said calmly as though trying to explain his own intentional agrivating her, his tone dropping to a less snide tone and almost tutoring. He didn't want her to fall to her own hubris if she met another opponent that would make the fight a personal attack. "I won't be the only opponent that will make a battle personal, to conquer your foe, first conquer yourself."DraconicFeline 17/20 hp +1 to dmg for military weapon 3 + 1 dmg dealt

Shield - Adept Defense B Artifact: Nullify 2/2 6 damage dealt "I am perfectly graceful when I'm angry!" she protested, attacking again with a fierce swat of her sword. She was grinning, playful in her fighting, but she knew that he was right - a hero's greatest downfall came, in most of the stories, from within, either allegorically or literally. But she already knew herself. It was the rest of the world that confused her, still. It did not conform to her view of how things should be. "Thou art simply good at battle. Something I would not have expected of thee!" It was true. She hadn't thought he could fight, let alone do anything competently. When she had first met him, he had been a teenager, a cariacture of a gentleman with his fine clothing and his aversion to sand and silt. Now she understood that there was more beneath the surface of every person, a thousand secrets for every truth revealed. So much more... "But..." she drew back, watching him, "When you call thyself a gentleman, what doth that mean to you?"

Miache parried her sword with his cane, the finish ringing a solid sound. He was glad he'd upgraded, surely his old weapon would've found itself split under the assault. It was true she was a good fighter, but she got too....excited and lost sight. "I have to," he smirked, "you know I came here because there were trolls I'm interested in protecting. I will not see them fall. And if Byakko will protect them and their desires....I think....I might just fight for her whenever she might ask of it." She was straight....he liked that. Almost shockingly blunt. But he preferred that, it was better than the playful child empress with her constant games. Regina had lied to them more than once.....if Byakko was as honest and upfront as she seemed....he might just be in the right place.
When she pulled back he stood defensively a moment, staring as she spoke. "What it means to me?" he repeated thoughtfully. "It means to be strong, but not without mercy. Kind without weak. A gentleman must protect what he believes in and what he cares for. One must be proper, well spoken, tidy, honest....and above all.....effortless," he said, adding the last with a smirk. It was true, everything he was, everything he wanted to be.....had to look effortless, as simple as breathing. And for the most part....it did. When he was younger his lusus certainly had his fair share of times reeling the troll in from being overly mouthy....not as though that had changed, but he certainly had improved at finding his battles.DraconicFeline 11/20 hp +1 to dmg for military weapon 4 + 1 dmg dealt

Keionx uses her shield! No damage taken.
Shield - Adept Defense B Artifact: Nullify 1/2 7 damage dealt Miache was a troll of conviction. That was what Keionx liked about him. Keionx blocked his attack with her shield and listened to him thoughtfully before, suddenly, darting forward and striking at him with a blow that would have rang like a bell had it hit metal. "That sounds much like a knight, if I be honest." she said, quietly, because they were close now. Very close. "Or close enough." she said, drawing back with a laugh. "Well, thou knowst that I shall stand with thee in such a fight." she continued.

"Coming from you I suppose that's a compliment," he smirked. A knight....perhaps. Knights SHOULD be gentlemen....though, he felt the same about any troll, regardless of career choice. "Though I see knights as more selfless, protecting the weak and whatnot, my range of interest is admittedly smaller than that." He only meant it to be honest, the range of his ability to protect was limited, and he would always chose to protect those he cared about, even if it meant doing nothing for someone else in more dire need. What could he say? He realized his own limitations and knew that was often the downfall of 'knight's, spreading themselves too thin.
Miache wheezed at the rather.....SOLID hit from Kei. It was a good one for sure. She was still easily distracted and sloppy when so....but unperturbed she hit like a musclebeast...not that he'd tell her that. "Finally getting your s**t together, eh?" he asked, smirking again. He really was stronger than he looked!) hit from Miache on her armor. It rang out, an inspiring sound that satisfied Keionx as to the purchase - so far, it was everything she could want from a new suit of armor. She would have to polish it well. Keionx laughed, "Twould be a worse hit to my pride, then!" she admonished, as she lunged for an opening, "... but it seems thou dost not have to take such measures!"

She certainly seemed to think so, but Miache was a realist....he couldn't save everyone. Some didn't diserve to be saved...some couldn't be saved. But....he didn't need to point that out to her. Then again.... "Spread yourself too thin and you lose out on the people you care about most," he added, a small smirk at that. "Sometimes in trying to protect someone you care nothing for you are unable to protect someone truly important to you. I suppose that's why I'd much rather be by the side of those trolls than the alternative."
Miache raised his hands in surrender, having perfect faith she would at least stumble to a stop. "Of course. I gave it my all, almost got sweaty even. Could you believe that?" he asked, voice dripping sarcasm as he flipped his hair over his shoulder. He flashed her a cheeky grin. He wasn't sure why but he'd never seemed to laugh so much as with the stupid orangeblood. She wasn't clever....she wasn't witty.....she was pretty hard-headed....she was stubborn....but like most lowbloods (it seemed) she was...oddly endearing.

Surrender Keionx stopped herself, skidding slightly as she brought her sword into a 'guard' position. "I can tell!" she said, grinning, "Such a feat!" She herself was sweating slightly too, despite the cold - he had really given her a good workout. He wasn't a bad fighter, indeed, and she was... proud? Impressed? Pleased? Some combination of the three? What did it matter? The bout had been fun. She sheathed her sword. "I must commend thee on your recommendations on this armor! It was well made, and moved like a charm!" she tapped the metal with a fist, pleased. "And also on thy skill! Truly, we must spar again!"
"As for what thou said..." she thought for a moment, no longer concentrating on the movements of battle. "Thou may have a point." It was true, indeed, that if she protected someone who she didn't care about, then someone who she did care about may well go without her protection. However, when she had been unable to protect another, there had been no way to reach him, and she herself had been protected... The memory was strong, and, further complicating things, was the fact that one - that she - could protect a cause as well as people. It was something that required more thought, but for now. "Dost thou needst to change thy clothes from thy endeavors..." she said slyly, "Or shall we simply retire to a celebratory drink at yon coffee shop?"
