A shadowy shape descended from the surface of the lake, revealed to be a young Naiad woman once she was no longer framed by the sunlight above. Though the light had begun to fade as she made her descent, there was still enough light at this depth to make the lady's scales shimmer vividly. Glittering pink and white, Moana was still beaming as she descended, hands full. Under one arm, a net filled with cracked oysters was coiled and bunched; the other hand held a much smaller kelp bag.
Her afternoon's efforts had rewarded her with a small bag of pearls, few in number perhaps, but of decent quality. Such work could have easily been done in the kitchens of the temple, but Moana would take any excuse to head to the surface. Aside from the curiosities up there, it had been growing very warm lately. Relaxing in the warmth of the shallows and bathing in the bright sunlight had always done wonders to improve her mood. Of course, as a lady of the court, she had no need to do such manual tasks for herself, but to be completely honest...she had needed the distraction.
Now, she just needed to stop by the kitchens, drop off these oysters for dinner, then take the pearls to her room until she figured out what she wanted to do with them. Maybe she could have them made into some kind of jewelry by the palace artisans. Maybe a gift for her mother...
If she didn't lose them all on the way first. With a flare of irritation, she'd just caught sight of one of the pearls slipping free from a hole in the kelp bag and drifting towards the lake bed. "Oh, gods and little fishes!" she cursed in exasperation, then paused and chuckled at herself. She sounded just like her mother for a moment there. Still, this was annoying. How many had she lost already? She tried to take a quick count inside the bag before tying off the top with a knot. This left the hole as the only opening, so she shoved the rogue pearl back in there and took a firm hold of the bag so that no more could escape. The kitchens would have to wait a bit for the appetizers while she quickly retraced her path, scanning the lake bed for any other lost pearls.
SSBrosB ((Sorry for the delay! I couldn't decide which of my Naiads to have him bump into at first! XD))

Cerulean had been quietly humming to himself as he looked at the ocean floor, looking for anything he could add to his “interesting items” collection. So far the collection only consisted of a few shells and some bits and bobs of stuff that other pae accidentally dropped in the lake, but he liked it. It was something that stood out from everything in the place where he lived.
Really though he should be looking for things that could be added to the kitchens, but he really didn’t like hunting himself. He did like to go out and explore but hunting was not something he was in favor of and hoped that he could eventually find a job that either didn’t involve killing other live creatures. He had wanted to become a farmer for a while, but had been unable to find even any beginner jobs in any of the underwater farms that were there and so since he wanted some sort of job, he had found one as a hunter.
Unfortunately for them he tended to bring any possible food home still quite a alive, but they did not discourage him from doing so. Some of them even kept what he found as pets, and sometimes the creatures were used for other things, so he had found a good spot to stay in right now until he could finally get the job he wanted.
So he had been scouring the lakebed, almost blending into it with his teal coloring, searching for food when he noticed some sand being kicked up a bit. Swimming slowly towards the dust, he noticed a small round object and on picking it up realized that it was a pearl. He wondered who it belonged to and looked around for any other naiad who might be around. He never even thought of keeping the pearl for himself, especially since with the way he found it, clearly it had just been dropped.
Swimming up a bit he noticed a female naiad looking around somewhat frantically. This must be the pearl’s owner. He thought to himself as he slowly swam over. He asked out loud though, ”Is this what you’re looking for?” He did this while holding out the pearl in his palm.

Moana looked up sharply from scanning the lake bed at the sound of the voice. She had thought herself alone out here and tried to hide her surprise at being startled. Of course, once she caught sight of the voice's owner, she realized why she hadn't noticed him before. He blended right in with the surroundings. With the teal and white mottled scales, his coloring almost seemed to mimic the way the light from the surface shone through the water below. She flashed him a relieved smile as she swam closer to retrieve the lost pearl.
"Oh my, yes! Thank you so much, kind sir!" She neared, shuffling the net of oysters and dropping it into the sand in order to have a free hand to reach for the pearl. "Darn things seem to have a mind of their own! I think they're trying to escape!" she giggled, opening the smaller pouch to add the 'lost' one to the others within. With that task finished, she turned her attention back to the other Naiad. He didn't appear familiar to her...but there were so many in and out of the palace and others all over the lake bed, that wasn't particularly surprising. Still, a lady was always polite, even when she wasn't in court. Right?
"I'm not sure we've ever met," she stated, holding out her free hand in greeting. "Moana, kind sir. And who is it that's come to this lady's rescue?"

Cerulean blushed a bit at how Moana, as she had introduced herself, was talking to him. It made him feel a bit embarrassed as she almost acted like he had come and rescued her from something dangerous even though it was just a lost pearl. He grasped her hand and shook it a little. ”Um… I’m Cerulean. And we never have met. I haven’t really been the type to go out and um… greet people.” He was trying to gain confidence but it always managed to slip away from him once the actual situation of talking to another came about.
He looked quickly at her bag that she had stored the pearl in. ”Why are you gathering pearls? Do you collect them?” He had never gotten a pearl himself, but he hadn’t really searched for any either. He tended to just pick up what he thought was neat, and wouldn’t damage anything if it was removed, to add to his collection.

After having an exchange of more than a single sentence, Moana realized that she wasn't exactly speaking with the most outgoing of Naiad. Woah, Moana...tone it down a bit. You're coming across a little strong and flustering the poor guy, she thought to herself. He seemed nice enough, if just a bit awkward. Shy; kinda' like her quieter brother. Just like you're dealing with Zo-Zo, she told herself.
Her smile relaxed a bit, as if some of the excess energy she'd shown had quietly dissipated into the surrounding waters. "I think that's a nice name. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that. The palace can be a pretty busy place and it can get rather overwhelming at times. It's not the sort of place for everyone." Her mother definitely avoided the hustle and bustle as much as possible...though she supposed she also had other reasons for doing so...
"Oh, the pearls? Well..." She glanced down, her free hand touching the strands of pearls at her neck, bound by a shell broach. "I do think they're very nice. But...that wasn't really my primary task today. I was just...I haven't had much to do lately, so I offered to help with some of the kitchen work. I was cracking oysters for dinner and they told me I could keep any pearls I found, so..." She giggled softly, holding up the bag with a gentle shake. "I think I just happened to get the lucky deal today!"
With a shrug, she started looking about to grab her net of oysters from the lake floor. "Not sure what I'll do with them yet. There's not enough for a necklace or anything, but maybe I can get one of the jewelers to make me something with them. Or perhaps a gift for someone else..." Looping the ends of the net to keep the contents safely within, she turned a smile back to her new friend. "What about you, Cerulean? What brings you out and about today?"

All right, she seems okay with talking to me. Cerulean thought to himself as the female went on to talk about the palace. He hadn't gone there yet and tended to avoid it whenever possible. Too many other pae and he didn't want to feel like he was bothering anyone. And what if he did something to embarrass himself in front of the royal family?! He could never live with himself if he did that!
He blushed and muttered out a "Thank you..." before going quiet again and listening to her. He nodded with her assessment. "That is lucky! I haven't seen so many pearls in one place before! Or at least, that wasn't already made into something." And it was true, he hadn't. After all, he didn't really frequent any place that had them. He was quite content to stay by himself after all, and he didn't like flashy things on himself too much, but they looked good on Moana.
He looked a bit startled, the sudden reminder of the real reason as to why he was here suddenly coming back up in his mind. "Oh well I... I was looking for food for the kitchens I worked at but I'm not too good at it. I don't really like killing things. So I was looking around to see if I found anything interesting..." He started to mutter at the end, his blush growing ever deeper.
