Eliot was screwed. There was no denying that. He doubted Connie would have gotten the message to Mei in time to prevent her wrath; if the worker he'd left the message with had gotten it to Connie at all. He'd broken his promise to Mei. He'd left without telling her. It'd been an emergency though. If he could've, he would've gone back in time and explained where he was going before leaving.

Brenny wasn't in a state to do that, though. He'd asked. The celebi in question had taking refuge in their room, putting something in front of the door so it wouldn't open. Oh well. He'd just have to explain and hope Mei loved him enough to forgive him. Or at least, to make his death as painless as possible. "Mei? I'm back. I had to go rescue Brenny."

It was true. He was beyond screwed. Mei was pissed Eliot had left. Again. Oh sure this time he'd passed a message to Connie, but still he had promised her not to leave again without telling her he was going to be gone for an extended period. Sure it could be argued he "told" her by telling Connie, but it didn't feel that way to her in the slightest. Which meant she was one pissed off Mien Shao at the moment.

She had been beside herself with worry for ages. She'd heard of all the disappearances and kidnappings, of course she had, and she understood he needed to save Brenny, but for the love of Arceus, why hadn't he left her a note!? Now, she had to worry about Brenny and him!

So when that door finally came open, and she heard her boyfriends voice, his timing couldn't have been worse, she'd been dicing some vegetables, making soup for herself. His words though had her eyes narrowing and she hissed some. "Just in time for me to make Gyrardos soup!" her eyes flashed in anger as she slapped the blade of the knife against her cutting board.

Eliot took a step backwards. He hesitated. Was she really going to turn him into soup? His eyes were wide. He didn't know what to do. Was she serious, or not?

"I don't think I'd taste very good," he offered, going into the kitchen. "I'm sorry," he added, hoping she'd forgive him. His eyes landed on the knife, though and he swallowed. "It was an emergency. You weren't around and they'D grabbed Brenny...I didn't think."

"I have enough veggies, and seasonings. I can make anything palatable. Even lying Gyrardos!"

Her fingers had curled around the handle again, and she was chopping veggies again and dumping them into her broth. "No, you didn't think. It was somehow easier for you to contact Connie than to leave a note for me? It wasn't until Connie was able to get home, almost ten hours later I even knew where you were Eliot!" She was rounding the counter, knife tip pointed at him in irritation.

Well, maybe he deserved that. He'd broken his promise to always tell her where he was going; and he'd made her worry. "I was panicking! I didn't think about that. I just..." He'd thought about Brenny, taken and scared. "I'm sorry!" He added, eyes on the knife. "I'm so sorry, Mei. I know I promised..." And he'd forgotten that promise in a panic. His shoulders slumped. He should've taken time to write a note, even if he'd figured Brenny'd been in danger. He wouldn't be in this mess if he had.

"Are you really going to turn me into soup?" He asked.
