This is how you do friendships, right? You buy them things? To show you appreciate them or something? Yeah, totally, nailed it.
So Jamie liked this pokemon card s**t, that was cool. Shiloh was hardly into the games (honestly, his cruddy old sapphire version was his favorite for the contests and only the contests), so he was even less into the card variety. That would require a stable income after all, and dammit these things weren't ******** cheap.
He shouldn't steal it. Okay, he definitely wasn't going to steal it, because it was supposed to be a gift and he wouldn't be able to look Jamie in the eye like "Yeah, here, I stole this for you. Like me please." without feeling guiltier than all hell. Wait? What did it matter if Jamie liked him or not? They were friends already, Christ Shiloh.
Well whatever. Point was, Shiloh was on a goddamn mission, destination: Hell. The 4th wall was his target, because that's where Jamie said he'd gotten the damn things in the first place (and he had to play off liking the card game too when he inquired; Shiloh! You like to collect them too?!—yeah, that went swell). Oh well. He'd buy them and be out, quick and sly.
If anything, at least he'd get some streetpasses for his 3ds. It was equally cruddy and worn, bought off of some guy on craigslist (like most of his wares). Maybe even a new house in animal crossing to peruse when he got home or two. It'd give him a nice excuse to talk to Digby at least. Seriously though, this is where nerds congregated right? He better get a few new ones. azuredreams before the hellmeta went down...

Today there was a pair of particular shades on Cid's face as he was working around the shop and reorganizing a display. He was dressed in a light blue shirt, dark pants, and had a tail on again. His ears looked similar. They looked oddly cloudy. At the sound of victory fanfare - which played any time someone came into the shop - he looked up towards the door. "Yo! Welcome to the 4th wall!" Shiloh's 3DS would most definitely get a few things by simply just walking in front of the store. No telling what he would get if he stayed.

The fanfare caught him off guard immediately. Cid's voice made him jump a second time.
He was fairly accustomed to being noticed like this, but he still held out for the bad, disillusioned employees that offered no greetings or harmonies. They were the ones that sat there, slowly congealing with their surroundings, letting the stone cold walls of their employment space trap them in. They never spoke to him, not unless he spoke first, and he preferred it that way.
This guy however, seemed to love his life almost as much as he loved his job, and Shiloh was immediately irritated. Do it for him, do it for Jamie...
There was an issue, however, because despite this irritation he was also immediately drawn to this man. Why? Turtles. It was obvious, and the second Shiloh looked at him, he knew this immediately. Pokemon was a very casual hobby of his, and he could only remember the most vague snippits of the show from his childhood, but this man was very obviously a wartortle. God help him.
It at least deposited him in this weird half space between ignore and speak, which was blessedly enough to get a question out.
"Pokemon cards?" he could find them on his own, probably, but he'd rather not deal with store clerks preening on him like goddamn vultures.

"Sure! We got 'em!" Cid was tugged off the shades, slipped them onto the collar of his shirt. "You looking for something rare or something new or ... ?" His head was tilting towards the section of the store where the TCG stuff was set up. "I've got a display with stuff that is rarer and hard to find back by my register." Melancholies before the hellmeta went down and em got hella sick and stressed ... XDDD

"Wait, you can like, buy specific ones?" This was absolutely mindblowing to Shiloh, who thought trading cards could only be purchased in their tiny little unassuming packs. s**t, with this power, Shiloh could bypass the heartache of bad pack fallout and just get one of Jamie's ********. What the ******** was his favorite?
Okay, think Shiloh, it's probably a goddamn fish. That narrowed it; he was prepared for this. At least, he continued to tell himself as much as he followed Cid to the displays in the back, eyes wide and huge.
"Also uh, nice..." he motioned to Cid's everything, "Get up...?" it was cosplay, but Shiloh didn't really know the word for it. "I'm not really looking for rare stuff, though..." sometimes he hated surprises; it wasn't like he could ask Jamie what he'd want without it being totally obvious. "I'm buyin' them for my friend..." Shiloh's eyes were gleaning over all the merchandise, "He uh, really liked fish and water types..." azuredreams three months later wheeze
