In the summer I am all about dresses!
But during other seasons I like to pair blazers and other shirts with my dresses. They can make for interesting skirts too if you layer them in such a way. I'm a sucker for collared shirts and sweaters!

I feel like every one needs a basic black or darker grey cardigan in their wardrobe. They look great with a blouse and jeans or a skirt, a longer top with leggings, a dress, etc. Black and grey are also pretty neutral and will match almost anything. A basic cardigan can look good when you have to dress up a bit, and can still look good when you're having a lazy day and are nice for when it's just a little too chilly for bare arms.
A decent pair of black flats are a good staple footwear, and a piece of royal blue clothing (like a blouse you can wear with a black or dark grey suit/outfit) is great for interviews.
Personally though, I wear mostly dresses and my wardrobe looks a bit vintage. You can't go wrong with classic pieces.
