Hyperborea walked along the park with her staff in hand as she patrolled. She felt the small gentle aura of a base level senshi nearby. She decided to head in its direction, she wanted to make sure the senshi didn't need any help or anything.
Even though senshi seemed to have a better start than knights, in terms of both understanding their situation and having the ability to combat the forces they might face, she still worried that they might be confused or not yet ready to fight in the war.
So sh he followed the aura to it's source, a red senshi. "Bonsoir monsieur senshi." She called out to the senshi.

The voice seemed to surprise Caia, who jumped just a bit.
He was still getting used to being able to feel people and was still struggling to decipher where the energy signature was coming from when he heard the voice from behind him. He spun, quickly, face turning almost as red as his hair.
"Bonsoir," he repeated almost immediately, and then sputtered, "I mean, hello…ma'am?"
…She didn't look like a ma'am, she looked like she might have been younger than him (not that he could tell, he was terrible at guessing ages). But she was shorter than him, and that had to count for something!
…Even if she felt much, much stronger than he did.
Except, he had no idea what she was. He had met a Mauvian—the one who had awakened him, and no one else. He was still learning about this war, and while the cat that had awakened him did an amazing job, Caia was still floundering to find his place an understand everything. Hesitantly, he asked, "Are you a senshi, too?"

She regarded the senshi with a kind smile and a slight chuckle after his question. It inadvertently answered an unasked question she had, how long had he been powered. This senshi must be rather new to not know what a knight is.
"Nope not a senshi, though my kind are allied to them. I am a Knight, a knight of Cosmos to be exact. You may call me Hyperborea." She explained.
"I hope I'm not being too much of a bother, I just wanted to check if you needed any help or guidance. I remember how difficult it was starting out." She offered.

"Oh!" The senshi's eyes lit up and he nodded. "Knight! Okay, got it! Hyperborea! I will remember that," he promised, and tried not to look incredibly obvious as he repeated her name in his head a few times to try and cement it.
"I'm Caia," he said quickly, and offered his hand to her. "You're not a bother at all—truth be told, I'm just trying to settle in. The cat that awakened me—super helpful, but I guess now that I'm powering up you find out you've got all these other questions that you didn't think to ask at first. My biggest thing right now is—you know—how do you keep it from everyone? It's so hard for me not to accidentally let something slip. I'm terrified I'm going to say something to my brother and he's going to find out and be so mad at me."

"It's a pleasure Caia." She said shaking the offered hand. She didn't notice the man repeating her name in his head to remember it.
"Well I'm glad your guardian cat was helpful at least. Well first of all I would say you don't need to worry too much about your secret as senshi unless you want to, we just need to keep our identities secret from the negaverse if your family finds out its not a major problem. But if you still want to keep it private well, when you are powered up no one will recognize you thanks to a magic that protects our identity. Your brother could look you in the face as Caia and he would not be able to tell who you are. So the only real threat to your identity is powering up or down in front of someone, I personally like to transform in alleyways to avoid that." She said tapping her finger on her cheek thoughtfully as she tried to think of a suggestion to avoid saying something to real a powered identity.
"Hmm it might help if you find another powered person who you can have as a civilian friend. If you have someone to confide in about the war you might be less likely to say something to your brother." She suggested.

"Oh," Caia said, and nodded enthusiastically. "Well, yes, of course, I know a little bit of those things. I'm more concerned with saying something stupid."
He sighed heavily and reached up to comb his fingers through his vibrant hair. He scratched at his scalp and pursed his lips, as if by combining the actions he might be able to access some deeper level of thought.
"To b honest, I really haven't met any other powered people. Yet! I'm hoping to. So, uh."
He shifted positions and cast her the cheeriest smile he could manage.
"Wanna be friends?"

"Hmm I'm not sure what advice I can give you then other than watch what you say. But if you want my honest opinion, tell him now. He'd probably be more angry learning about your powers later right, and besides to be frank he's safer knowing about the powered world and the dangers that are out there." She said earnestly.
She honestly always regretted never telling her parents about her powers. A part of her wondered if they would still be alive if she had talked to them and explained about the negaverse and youma.
She was brought out of her melancholy thoughts by his next question. "Of course I'd love to be your friend." She said with a smile mirroring the senshi's own. "Just feel free to call me any time you want to hang out or talk, or if you ever need help I promise to be there in a flash."

Caia shook his head almost immediately. In nearly every situation he would have advocated for honesty, but he just couldn’t imagine actually telling his brother. He didn't have any idea what to say—and was already dreading how the conversation would go. No, he needed time to prepare. Or, maybe if he was lucky, Jeremy would never find out.
He offered her a smile but his response was a noncommittal, "Okay," before he quickly brushed the topic aside to focus on the idea of friendship. "Oh, I'd love that! Do you, like, ever hang out with people even when you aren't powered up, or is that weird? Like going out with work friends after work, or…I actually don't know what's the normal protocol. Are we supposed to keep our secret identities secret from each other, or just the bad guys?"

The noncommittal response wasn't exactly unexpected, she probably would have given a similar response had she been given this advice as a page. She just prayed to Cosmos that he didn't have to pay as high a price as she did for secret keeping.
She smiled at his questions. "It's not weird at all in my opinion. I'm actually living with one of my best friends who I met as a knight. As far as I'm concerned we only need to keep our identities a secret from the Negaverse." She said a she looked around and tried to feel if anyone was nearby.
Once she felt sure no one was there to see she willed her powers to disappear, Hyperborea disappeared replaced with a fifteen year old girl still wearing her crystal uniform.
"Ciel Karpusi, it's a pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself again with a smile and an extended hand.

Caia nodded quickly; when she powered down he suddenly felt the same need to do the same. "Oh, okay, hello—it is nice to meet you," he said, and once more stuck out his hand instinctively. His powered side slid away from him to reveal just plain, normal, Myles. "I'm Myles Fischer." He gave her outstretched hand a quick shake, smile still on his face.
"I'll be sure not to let any Negaverse person learn my identity, or anything like that. But—this is going to sound so bad, I'm so sorry—you look so young! Can I ask how old are you, or are you old enough that it's too rude to ask? I know ladies are sensitive with their age, I don't mean to offend. I'm nineteen, myself. But still also really new to this."

"Hi Myles" She said with a pleasant smile. That smile was quickly replaced with a bright blush across her face after his next question.
"I..I'm fifteen." She said a bit defensively. "I know I look a bit young but I'm just short for my age." She said as if to offer an explanation.
"I've been doing this for a little more than a year." She said feeling it only right to give her own experience after he did.

Myles held up his hands as if to defend himself, but he wound up waving them quickly. "Oh, no, no! I have nothing against short people! Or young people! I was, I mean, when I was fifteen," he snorted and put a hand over his chest. "I was making all sorts of mistakes. Bad mistakes."
He was suddenly fumbling over his words and moved quickly to plant his hands on his hips. "If you're out saving the world at fifteen, I'm sure you can't be all bad. And you've been doing this for a year? Oh, man. I can't imagine. I wasn't that responsible at all, not at your age. That's really impressive."

A morose look crossed her face. "Believe me I still make plenty of bad mistakes." Then she realized she was bringing down the mood so she shook away the bad thoughts and put on a smile.
"Merci, you're very kind. We all have our part to play in this war, I just try to do my best to help people." She said with a friendly smile, happy for a compliment even if she felt it wasn't necessarily warranted.
"I should probably get going, but if you'd like we can hang out more later. Just give me a call on your senshi phone or if you want to hang out as civilians here's my cell number." She said bringing up her phone number and holding it up for Myles to see.

Myles blinked and then nodded eagerly. "I'd like that a lot, yes," he said, promptly recording the number. He recited it under his breath as if to ensure that even if something happened, he'd remember.
"I'll have to text you or something when I get home, to make sure you have mine? But if it's not too creepy, I'd really love to get together and talk some more. You really seem like you know what you're doing and, I mean, I'll be honest—I'd love if someone could just sit down with me and answer some more of my stupid questions. I'm sure I'll think of more when I go home tonight," he said, laughing weakly. He didn't seem to be in a bad mood; a smile still clung to his face but it was obvious that even for as exciting and optimistic as he might be, he knew how painfully oblivious he was to everything that was really going on.

"Of course I'd love that. I'm always available...well not during school, but any time after that." She said with a laugh.
"I have to go now but it was nice meeting you. Please feel free to call me anytime." She said as she turned around and powered back up in a flash. She headed off into the darkness.
