 It was a lovely day on the beach. The warmer weather had finally attracted the summer crows and the sand was packed with phony and people alike enjoying the warming weather. Parfait Storm was still new to the beach life and was quite shocked to suddenly find a lot of people in the waters swimming and snorkeling, but the one thing that really captured her interest was the thing some people were doing ON the water. She was watching a couple of the people doing it now. They were on top of long things and gliding across the top of the ocean until they hit a wave. They paddled pretty frantically and at first Stormy thought they wanted to get away from the wave, but instead they jumped up and guided the thing they were on ONTO the wave. It was the neatest thing she'd ever seen in her relatively short little life.

 Between the humans and the occasional phony riding the waves was a green mer filly also catching herself some hang time. Mane wet and wind blown and a smile spread across her face, the occasional whoop and holler left her lips as she shared the waves with others. Her style a bit different as she had a tail fin rather than back legs of course, but it didn't stop her! Nor did it stop her from accepting a ride on this guys long board either. Perched at the front, she waited with him for the perfect wave. She nodded eagerly as he called to her, angling the board, waiting for just the right moment to pop to his feet. As the wave hit, Tsu lifted her torso up as far as she could while the guy balanced and kept them steady. The speed, the rush, the water spraying her in the face! It was always over too quickly! She could hardly contain herself as they gently let the waters carry them to the beach and she rolled off his board, a laughing pile of mer filly. Waving her hoof in thanks, she stayed on the sands to catch her breath as he darted back out into the ocean. "Wheeewwee." she giggled to herself satisfactorily.

Stormy picked up her jaw from watching the antics of the cute green mer and swam up to the shoreline. "Hey! Uhm..Hey uh..you!" she beckoned to the filly. "What was that that you did? On the long thing with the human??" Her tail swished and splashed in the water excitedly.

Tsu blinked and lifted her head as she heard a voice calling to her. Spotting the blue mer filly Tsu beamed, flopping herself over and dragging herself back into the waters quickly to meet the other. "Heyya! Oh that? I was surfing!" she giggled proudly, eyes sparkling.

"Surfing.." she said it thoughtfully and then nodded. "I see, I want to do the surfing too!" She excitedly turned to a human paddling out to sea on a long board and swam along side him for a moment. "You, excuse me you! Please teach me the surfing!" The dude reached down and patted Stormy's head and fluffed her mane a little, telling her he lacked the time to do so. As he paddled away, Stormy pushed her mane back into place with a huff. "I just want to learn the surfing..."

She watched as the other paddled up to a guy excitedly but was given a no. Frowning, Tsu started to swim towards the other mer when an idea popped into her head. "Hey!" she called, swimming up next to the blue filly and stopping, wide smile across her face. "I could show you how!" she offered. She wasn't an expert by any means but she had learned a lot so far.... plus the two were both mers. They didn't technically need a board..... though boards were nice and shiny and brought a water based creature more of a fun challenge.

Stormy's red eyes widened in surprise. "Really??? You will show me the surfing?" She reached forward and grabbed the other mer's hoof. "Oh thank you thank you! Can we try now? Please please uhm..uhm...sorry, I don't know your name yet. I'm Parfait Storm."

Tsu giggled as the other latched on and shook her hoof. "Course I will! We already have a leg up on the competition." she snerked at her own joke, wiggling her tail fin forward. "We don't really need a board, at least not to begin with! OH! I'm Tsunami Waves by the way!" she smiled, equally as excited to have made a new friend to share her biggest passion with!

A little while later found both mers in the ocean bobbing along with the waves of the water. Stormy's cheeks were puffed out and she blew bubbles in the water, a look of annoyance on her face. She just couldn't get it and it was so simple! You just, ride on the wave on your tummy! Easy right?? Nope. Everytime she and Tsunami paddled up to the wave, the other mer was able to just glide around on the tube as graceful as anything Stormy had ever seen. And herself? Fins over nose every time, either being caught up in the wave or falling out of it and back into the water. She might be a merphony but she didn't enjoy snorting a snoot full of ocean everytime she wiped out. "This is impossible!"

Tsu was having a blast!! Well she would have been really if Stormy had been too. But she kept herself from frowning and tried to be as positive as she could. "You are doing great! Its a learning experience, no one is going to get it right on the first try." she said as she swam over next to the other filly. "It took me plenty of days before I fully got the hang of it. You just gotta keep trying." she said, reaching over to gently hug the other mer. "You will have it in no time, I am sure of it! And I wont leave until you do!" she nodded confidently, hoof crossed over her chest.

Stormy looked dubious. "I don't know.." she said with a little sulk in her tone. "Maybe I just can't do the surfing. It's ok if you want to go on or something, I wouldn't blame you at this point." She was trying really hard, she was, she just couldn't get that good glide that Tsu could. "Maybe this is just something only you are good at..?"

It was hard for her not to frown at that comment. No! She didn't want to leave the other filly! She wanted to stay here and teach her and not leave until the other was able to do what she wanted to do! "I can't!" she shook her head, for a moment her smile fading. "I want to stay here and help you until you can blow everyone out of the water with your tubular moves! I have too, its my job." she smiled again, this time her grin even wider than before. "I'll stick with you for as long as you need me, but when were done you will be a master surfer!" she giggled, already spotting the next wave to try.

Stormy couldn't help but blush a little. Tsu was so nice and upbeat and patient. No matter how many times she'd fallen or how many times she had to keep asking what went wrong, Tsu always told her with no hint of irritation. The blue filly turned to the new wave that was encroaching on the pair of them. She drew up her shoulders. She was going to do this. "O..okay. Go through the steps one more time.."

"Thatta girl!" Tsu cheered, readying herself for the wave as well. Though she already knew what to do, she made sure to always slow herself down and go through the motions as if it was her first time. Seeing helped with learning, at least for her anyways, so she wanted to make sure to be there step by step for Stormy! "Don't try to over think it! Let the wave catch you, feel it and move with it!" she cheered on the other mer with full gusto.

"Okay, okay, right, right.." Stormy fixed her eyes on the wave. "Don't over think it. Don't over think it. Don't every think it." she kept chanting that to herself as she paddled up the wave. "Don't over think, don't over ohhh..." The mer felt the wave rising up under her. Her breath caught in her throat and she whispered to herself; "lethewavecatchyouletthewavecatchyouletthewavecatchyou.." She dropped her tail into the wave as she started to glide along the tube to keep from just flying off of it and back into the ocean. Before she knew it, she could feel the fast water gliding under her tummy. "Feel it and move with it, feel it and move with it!" A excited and unbelieving giggle escaped her and she glided down the tube. Looking up, she could see the sky through the spray. "TSU TSU LOOK! I'M SURFING I'M SURFING!!" She waved excitedly at her friend. But just as she did, she felt her tail being sucked into the wave and she wiped out, diving into the water. A moment later she popped up and paddled over. "I did it! I did it! Did you see?! I did the surfing!!" She threw her arms around Tsu's shoulders. "Thank you thank you thank you friend!"
