 Stormy huffed and crossed her arms. Business had been super slow recently even though beach attendance had been up. She'd even moved her business a little further into the sand, much to her discomfort, in order to catch the eye of more people. She wasn't a fan of the hover tech that Phonyland provided for mers and she consistently felt like she was going to fall down. "Ice cream, Ice cream!" she called at the passerby. "Unique flavors not found else where!"

Synthesis had decked himself out in the biggest pair of sunglasses he could find for his day at the beach and the young colt was doing his best not to attract attention. No better way to ruin a fun beach day than to be swarmed by paparazzi after all!
With the sun beating down on him the young actor galloped into the water to cool off. Curls straightening as they became drenched with water. The boy nearly lost his sunglasses as he was almost toppled by a rogue wave. The young unicorn tensed, hoping that none of the other phony nearby had seen and deciding that perhaps playing in the water might not be the best idea.
Trudging back onto the sand his eyes alighted upon a bright blue filly and her cooler. "You know," he piped up, "business would probably be better if you had some signs so people knew you were here."

Stormy waves her little hooves as people kept passing her by and she was getting a little peeved. "ICE! CREAM!" she nearly screeched over the crowd, frantically waving her hooves. She sighed and rested her chin on her hooves. Her mind had wandered when a small voice had pipped up. Peering at the bright colored colt in front of her, she grumbled; "Signs? But I'm right here, I'm almost in their faces, how can they not see me??" As she says that, a man walks past her unseeing either babben. If looks could kill, the man would be a scorched mark the ground. Stormy picked up a hoof-full of wet sand and cocked back her arm....

"Well, if you put some ads around town then people who were looking for ice cream would know where to find you. The beach isn't really a great location for food anyway. Aren't you not supposed to eat right before you swim?" Synth scuffed a hoof in the sand, kicking it to the side as his sunglasses slowly slid down his snout. "What if you move closer to the sidewalk and put up some bright colorful posters?"
With a chuckle the colt slowly reached out to the filly to push her hoof full of sand down. "You probably shouldn't assault potential customers."

Stormy snorted and let her hoof and the sand fall. "They can wait.." she said weakly to the idea that you shouldn't eat before swimming anyway and looked over her shoulder at the ocean. "I don't...know if the sidewalk would be better.." she said a bit nervously. "It's awfully far away from the water. I know I don't..need it need it but it feels really weird to be so far away from it. But.." But she did want her ice cream to be very popular with everyone. "Bright posters huh...have an ideas?"

"Well, if you have it on the sidewalk then it's accessible to both beach goers and the average passer by. Not everyone wants to get sand on their hooves, so it would widen your potential customer base." The unicorn murmured, watching the throngs of people go too and fro along the concrete path.
"W-well," he cleared his throat, shifting nervously. "I could maybe help a bit with making flashy posters." The colt pulled off his glasses, neatly folding them up and tucking them into his saddle bag. He sat silently as he waited for the filly to recognize him from his television show.

Stormy murmured as she considered the ideas Synth was putting forth. "I..guess..." she agreed reluctantly with a backwards glance at the ocean. "You're hired I guess?" After the colt took off his glasses, Stormy's head tilted. After a very long moment she blinked, and added. "Nice hair...let's get to work then." The filly hitched her cart up to take it closer to the side walk.

She didn't recognize him! For a moment the colt was filled with glee, hopeful that the filly would be able to treat him like he was a normal, totally average phony. Synthesis whinnied happily, trotting after Stormy up the beach towards the pavement.
"Are you any good at drawing? If not we could take pictures of each other eating ice cream and looking really happy so people will know how good it is. then i can print them out on poster paper for us!"

"That sounds..weird." she said after confessing she didn't know how to draw well. "People will think its good because of the posters?" Stormy sat her cart down nearer the main boardwalk and unfolded it back into a selling position. "If you say so.." she was completely unsure and for all she knew this would tank her and her ambitions, but something had to be done to drive up buzz and sales.

"Yep! You know how they say about how people's opinions on you are decided after the first couple of seconds after they met you? They haven't even gotten to know you yet, but they've already decided if they think you're nice or not. It's like that. If we make it look good in the poster then we can influence their perception of the ice cream before they even try it."
The colt pulled his phone out of the small bag tied around one of his ankles. "Now you just need to pose and look like you're eating some ice cream, then i'll do the same, then I can run across the street to that Clips store and print a couple posters really quick." He nodded to the office supply store with a smile. "Then hang them up and voila! All the customers!"

Stormy mouth quirked in a "I don't know about this" half smile. She opened up her favorite flavor, blueberry with squid ink, a happy blue color with swirls of black, and carefully put it on a small cone. She turned, seeing Synth at the ready and took a deep breath. "Ok. Let's do this!"

Synth giggled and clapped his hooves together. "No need to stress about this. You like ice cream right? All you've gotta do is be genuine then. Just eat that ice cream and it'll surely show!" He flashed a grin, holding his phone at the ready to snap the perfect image.

"O..okay." Here goes nothing. She took her first lick of her ice cream. MMmm..nice, creamy, and cold. She really was good at this! With the next lick, she hit a salty strip of squid ink. Yum!! She really didn't treat herself to some of her own products enough. Before she knew it, she was crunching into the cone.

Snapping pictures, he slowly walked around the filly to get different angles with a smile on his face. It was so nice that she knew what she liked to do and so clearly enjoyed her work. Synth admired her.
"Alright! Perfect!" He laughed. "That ice cream looks like it's really good. What flavor are you going to have me try?"

Stormy blinked, crunching down on the last bite of cone. Oh. Right. Stormy used her hoof to wipe some of the crumbs off her mouth and blushed hard. "Uhm..uhm..whatever flavor you want." she mumbled, trying to regain some composure. "But those pictures had better come out as good as my ice cream!"
