WELCOME TO ROUND TWO!

Aurostibite and Xenotime have congratulated you upon making it to round two of the tournament!

OOC:

Because there is an odd number of entrants for round two, you have been randomly selected via dice roll to be automatically advanced into the next round (known as a "bye" in sports terms)! Sylvite will receive a one-on-one training session from Xenotime in the meantime, so she can get a battle requirement along with the others!

You do not need to roll dice for this training session, as it is not an official advancing round for Sylvite.

There was a moment of wide-eyed, gut wrenching panic as Sylvite was led away from the water station and found herself face to face with a full General who looked like she could snap her in half in five seconds flat. Then, there was the explanation. She'd skipped a round? Okay. It was weird, but okay.

That meant whoever she was fighting next was going to be super strong, so... it was good she had this chance to get some training in.

All that settled, she nodded at the General. "Okay. Hi, I'm Sylvite. Nice to meet you and everything. If I'm here for training... let's do it!"

She stepped into her defensive stance, focusing more on making sure her balance was good than she had been in the actual battle.

"It's cool that you're doing this. I'm here mostly to try to get stronger. I mean, winning would be cool, too, but there can only be one winner, y'know? I'm actually kinda surprised I even made it this far."

Standing on the edge of the ring, arms crossed, the general looked quite the sight after her tangle with Ate. There were bruises blossoming along her throat, and her lip was still swollen, though didn't appear to be bleeding anymore. Ironically, the senshi looked a bit worst for wear, but only because Xenotime had been focusing the majority her attacks in more visible locations.

She smiled as the lieutenant joined her. They were close to the same size, probably within fifteen pounds of each other, but where one lacked confidence, the other seemed to exude it. "Sylvite, it's nice to meet you. I'm Xenotime, though you likely already knew that.

"I'm glad you approve of the way we're handling the odd number. It seemed the best course of action." The general shifted her weight, stance more balanced, and let her hands fall to her sides. "Since this is for your benefit, and since you have more battles to fight today, it'll be you on the offensive." This was a favorite game she played with the newest members of her flock. A way to test their abilities, and to help begin shaping their skills.

"Do what you can to land a strike."

"Well, I knew you helped plan this whole thing, and I saw you fighting that senshi, a little, but it's different actually meeting someone, y'know?" She returned the General's bright smile with one of her own. This clearly wasn't the pink haired officer's comfort zone, but Sylvite could still hardly be called shy.

Learning that she would be the one attacking was another relief. She nodded at the instructions, which seemed simple enough. Hit Xenotime. That didn't mean it was going to be easy... but she would try.

"Right. Okay," she said, then threw a fist at Xenotime's central mass. That was the biggest target, the easiest to hit. She knew that much.

Sylvite sounded just a touch star struck, though that could very well have just been nerves. Whichever the cause, Xenotime just smiled kindly back at her, nodding when prompted, before they were ready to get down to business.

As directed, the lieutenant came at her, arm cocked back to throw a punch, and as the general had been expecting, it wasn't a very difficult one to deflect. She reached out at Sylvite's fist came towards her, palm pushing against the side of the girl;s wrist to deflect to the blow past the outside of her arm, then side stepped to let momentum carry her for a step or two.

"Your forms not bad," she started as she turned to face her again. "But you're a little obvious with your movements." And to demonstrate, the fighter took a quick step forward, and wound up her own punch, only her's was done as late as was possible, and curled knuckles stopped before making contact with the other girl's torso. "You see what I mean? You wanna be a little more subtle, so your opponent doesn't know what's coming until it's too late to avoid it."

Xenotime took a couple of steps back, and brought her arms up again. "Try again."

Sylvite wasn't really expecting to hit or anything, but she also wasn't expecting to get jerked forward. The force left her stumbling pretty badly- maybe her balance hadn't been as good as she'd thought- but she managed to a avoid the embarrassment of falling flat on her face.

Still, she ended up blushing a bit at the explaination of what she'd done wrong and more when she realized the example punch would have hit her squarely had it not been stopped short. Despite her earlier claims, she thought she'd been doing much better at fighting, so being shown that she was still pretty bad was a little hard to take. But she wasn't giving up, and...if she couldn't fight harder than a General... she could maybe fight smarter. Or... try, at least.

"So... Like..." She threw a few practice punches into the air in front of her, staring at her hands and arms like she was trying to figure out how to make the motion less obvious. Then she stepped forward, gave a tiny nod, wound up a punch just like before... and kicked at Xenotime, instead.

It wasn't that the lieutenant was bad--obviously she'd made it through the first round, so she had some skill to speak of--it was just that Xenotime had made a career of out fighting. Negaverse aside, the general was an MMA fighter, she fought on the national circuit, had been on tour. Fighting was sort of her life, in a very literal sense.

So really, the young woman didn't have anything to be embarrassed about. Xenotime didn't expect professional training from the majority of the agents in the Negaverse, what she did expect, Sylvite had. This wasn't about proving herself, though. This was about taking what she already knew, and adding to it.

She'd Wait as the lieutenant threw a few punches in the air, watching her form and giving a small approving nod, and it would seem the pink haired girl was a quick study, because the general expected another punch, not a kick. She absorbed it, pushing her leg into it to lessen the blow a bit, but that came with know how and speed. "Better. Good use of misdirection."

Well, the blush wasn't all because Sylvite was ashamed of her abilities. It was at least partially because she thought the General was really, really cool- Not that anyone, least of all Xenotime, needed to know that. She was also just an expressive person. For example, when her trick attack actually hit, her eyes widened in delight and the slight frown from a moment ago turned into a full grin.

That was the extent of her creativity, though, because her next attack was just a simple punch- one that she was actively trying not to telegraph, but still a punch.
