Being in America was definitely different, but unfortunately, Helda Brynhild was finding herself becoming bored. She had relentlessly pestered her parents for the chance to study abroad, because she had desperately wanted a change in environment and a chance to do and experience different things. Alas, she had finally made it, started settling into this new life, attended a new school, met new faces and tried new things every day---and yet she still found herself yearning for something more. Yet she didn't know what.

It was late. After school, she hadn't returned to her house where she was staying with a family while in the States, and instead took to wandering. She half heartedly stifled a yawn with the back of her hand as she strolled down a sidewalk, her school bag slung careless;y across her back and held by the other. It seemed like it'd be another typical night, and she supposed she had better return soon---right up until, from the alley way ahead of her, a body was thrown out, and landed in a crumpled heap before her.

Hel stopped, pausing, her hand still held from her mouth as she looked down at the body. Whoever it was, a thug, by the looks of it, was unconscious. Huh. She turned her head, and looked into the alleyway, where the sounds of a big scuffle were now heard---a fight, apparently?---and a multitude of shapes in the dark moved.

Her fingers twitched, because it didn't matter what it was, it was something to do, and she was always down for some conflict.

There were four of them - he'd managed to take out the first with a fist thrust into his chest, yanking out the starseed and watching as the man crumpled instantly. Aurostibite was not normally one for immediate pulling, but there were enough of them that there was no time to be considerate.

Not that he ever was anyway, at least when it came to the White Moon and other ignorant fools - such as the group that he had inadvertently stumbled across during his patrol. They'd been camped in an alleyway he'd turned down into, and had not particularly liked being interrupted.

Another one came at him, and Aurostibite's clenched fist crunched into his nose. He felt the bone snap, the man giving a howl of mingled anger and pain as he stumbled back, and Aurostibite's foot swept under his ankle, knocking him onto his backside.

The starseed was still held in his hand; he shoved it into a pocket of his coat and summoned one of his weapons just as one of the goons lumbered forward, brandishing a knife. There was a horrible screech of metal against metal, and then Aurostibite kneed him viciously in the stomach, sending him flying back out onto the sidewalk where he lay moaning.

Aurostibite stumbled out, half following the path, half evading the swing of a knife from the last man, and almost ran into the young woman standing stock still on the sidewalk.

A civilian, unarmed.

"Move," Aurostibite snarled quickly, and unceremoniously he pushed her back, stepping to block her. There was another clang of metal, the scalloped edges of the tonfa raking against the knife being driven towards him. "Get out of here."

She stared longer into the darkness at the shapes, but soon the shapes came to her.

Her eyes went a bit wide with surprise, but shone bright as her interest was piqued. There was a scuffle, and with weapons none the less. In those quick few moments, she was already appraising the man who had shoved her (to which she let out a grunt, not exactly pleased), but understood it wasn't an act of aggression on his part. She heard the clang, caught her feet underneath her, and a small grin pulled at her lips. She didn't do what the odd looking man suggested. Quite the opposite, actually.

She pushed forward, zipping out from behind Aurostibite and around him. She then dropped low, and swept a leg out, sweeping the man he was clashing with off of his feet and onto the ground.

Aurostibite felt the steel of the knife grate against the edge of his blade and pushed back, teeth gritted, blue eyes blazing. The man wore a nasty grin, grizzled face mocking, taunting, ham like hands grasping the knife with a firm hold. Aurostibite's feet slid back a few inches -

- he saw a blur out of the corner of his eye -

- and all of a sudden the pressure pushing against him was gone, the man dropped onto the ground. Instinct pushed in, and Aurostibite swung a foot out, boot connecting with the man's groaning face. There was a crunch and then silence.

He lifted his gaze to meet the young woman's, surveying her with an unreadable expression on his face. After a moment, however, he said quietly,

"Thank you. You are..?"

Hel didn't answer right away. She was staring at the man on the ground after she stood, relishing in the victorious sound of that crunch. Her eyes were bright, her mind humming from what just transpired, and a small smile on her lips. She looked back down the alleyway, seeing a few more lumps of men, back to the sidewalk where she had seen the first body, and then to the gleam of the man's weapon. It was weird, she supposed, that she didn't feel like she was in danger from this man, with this equally dangerous looking weapon and skill.

Her eyes finally snapped up to the man's face, and she loosely gestured around the alleyway.

"Did yuu do all tis?" She asked, very interested, and then she had recalled he had asked her a question, too. "Brynhild. Yuu are...?" Can't exactly be on a first name basis with strangers, right? No matter how talented they were.

She was not, as he had thought, any sort of damsel in distress, now that he looked at her. A strong boned woman with a look of confidence and excitement in her eyes that was not even close to being fearful or concerned as he had expected.

"Yes," said Aurostibite, and then, "My name is General Aurostibite."

Brynhild was an odd name, her voice indicating that she was not from around here. He regarded her for another few seconds, eyes sweeping from her face, to the men on the ground, most notably the one that she had knocked down herself.

"Are you new here to Destiny City, Brynhild?" Aurostibite asked, after a moment. "Do you know of the terrorists here?"

At the title of General, Hel blinked in surprise. Was there an army here? Her brows knitted in thought as she looked over the man's---Aurostibite's (and what an odd name at that)---uniform. It did appear militaristic, but dark. Like to blend in with the night. "Ah---I am." She nodded her head a bit, and then raised one shoulder in a half shrug. "I have heard of them here and there in passing, ja." And she honestly hadn't given it much thought aside from that. She hadn't really seen anything, and it was out of sight, so out of mind.

She seemed to put two and two together though, and asked, "Is tat vhy yuu are a general? To combat terrorists?"

A new mind, fresh and untainted by the Order in their attempts at recruiting people to their side with lies and pretty promises. Aurostibite gave the woman another scrutinizing look, his gaze unreadable for several seconds as he contemplated which path to take.

"Yes," he said, "The terrorists are people like these men - " He gestured to the prone figures on the ground. " - who try and convince the people of the world that they know better, that they can become the voice of reason. They attack innocent people, while we work on protecting them."

Aurostibite desummoned his weapons, the bladed tonfas disappearing back to Negaspace. He regarded Brynhild calmly, and then said,

"You seem very well suited for us. Your strength and mind could benefit both the Negaverse and yourself very well, I think."

"Ah." Her gaze swept around the alleyway again, before landing back on the General, and her lips pursed briefly. Well, she had wanted some excitement. Ask and you shall receive. Entertainment came in the form of a recruitment offer after a scuffle. "Vell, I do not tink much of offer, because I can get stronger on my own, and I can always get my own veapon as vell---" She paused though, because the action Aurostibite had performed earlier just seemed to register in her mind.

"...Vhere did your veapons go?" She asked, her eyes narrowed. "Yuu did not stow tem normally." And she knew she wasn't seeing things.

He waited out her reasoning, already formulating answers inside of his head - but it was Brynhild's suspicious glance at his newly disappeared weapons that seemed to have caught her attention. Aurostibite lifted his chin, tilting his head slightly.

"To Negaspace," he said, "Our own special place where the members of the Negaverse can gather to train and to learn and prepare ourselves. If you become one of us, you can have your own weapon as well, to summon and desummon as you please. I'm sure you're quite capable of getting stronger on your own, that is quite apparent," he added, with a nod towards her. "But within the Negaverse, you have the opportunity to have even more."

"Nega...space...?" Hel repeated slowly, her brows knitting. She was staring at the General now with skepticism, suspicion, and curiosity. Alright, she'd bite. It was interesting to keep listening. "...Is it...an...ah...alternate dimension? Tat sounds like a book or movie, yuu know." She paused for a moment, shifting her weight from one leg to the other, and resting her fists on her hips.

"And what is tis more yuu speak of?"

"It is, in a way," said Aurostibite. "Our own place, set away from the rest of the world. There are creatures there that do our bidding, and our Queen and General Sovereigns also reside there. As fantastical as it may sound to a civilian, you saw proof of its reality not two minutes ago."

A slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "More strength," he said. "More knowledge. More ability to become the person that you were meant to be all along. You already have strength and a clever mind; becoming a member of the Negaverse boosts what's already there."

Hel couldn't help but stare at him with narrowed eyes and pursed lips. Her arms had crossed, and she tapped a finger on her arm as she listened and contemplated. Seriously. A lot of the stuff he was saying sounded like something out of...Lord of the Rings of fantasy stuff or what not. She couldn't deny how he made his weapons disappear earlier, that was for sure, but she needed...more.

"Show me." She demanded. "Show me a creature tat does your bidding."

After all, that was undeniable proof.

A demonstration, she had asked - demanded. Aurostibite's brows rose, his head tilted to one side. Well, if it was a show of his abilities she wanted, then he would give it to her, if it would allow him to recruit her in the end. And it would not hurt to show her his youma.

Aurostibite held out a gloved hand.

"Behellagh," he called, and a second later the monstrous form of his youma came fluttering down, wings flapping, her long tail cascading out behind her. Half peacock, half lion, or some other creature, he wasn't even entirely sure himself, but Behellagh was undeniably not a creature of the world of man.

Aurostibite laid a hand on the top of her head as she crooned, a low sound. His eyes flickered back to Brynhild.

"Satisfied?" he asked calmly.

He did it readily, with no hesitation, and her demand was rewarded with the appearance of a creature.

A tame fantastical looking creature.

Hel stared at the creature, absolutely riveted on it. It was all she really needed to solidify everything he said. To think a world like this really existed. It'd almost be incomprehensible if it wasn't blatantly in her face at the moment. A ripple shook her frame lightly---one of excitement. A whole new world out there, just waiting to be discovered and grasped. Her eyes briefly left the stunning creature to sweep the alley again, over the thugs the General had dispatched. The power. The weapons. The promise. She had felt that things were getting dull---and who knew an opportunity would suddenly spring up like this.

He spoke of terrorists---and while it promised a battle, she wasn't really interested in the whole fighting the good cause---she just wanted to fight.

She stared at the creature again, and then finally back up to him. "Almost." She replied, and held up a finger. "Tere is a battle for me to fight, ja?" She held up another finger. "I vould gain powers like yuu?" She held up a third finger. "Vhat is te cost? Everyting comes at a price."
