If it seemed like Katrina had been avoiding James since they'd last been gathered together by the Powers that Be it wasn't intentional. Things at home were still rocky and trying to placate her parents meant spending more time inside and less time out and about. She'd never been the perfect daughter, though, and her patience for spending evenings in was starting to wear thin.

[Text to Wonderboy: Thinking about you.]

She let the text sit there for a moment, pondering whether or not to hit 'send' before finally tapping the button to send the message through.

[Text to Wonderboy: Is it a good time to cash in on that raincheck for celebrating?]

A 'miss you' was almost added on to the end of that, but she erased it before sending the second text through. There was still that chance that he wasn't as into the idea of spending time with her as she was with him-- Sure, they had fun. The kisses were sweet and his smile made her evening brighter. They hadn't actually gone on a real date yet and maybe she'd just spent too much time dancing around it and he wasn't interested anymore.

[Text to Wonderboy: Missed you too, actually.]

[Text to Wonderboy: Diner on Meadowbrooke? Not too far from your place. Good food. Really good milkshakes.]

She set her phone down on her dresser while switching out her tunnels for a pair of plain, black plugs with a basic star pattern spattered over them, making sure the backs were solidly on the posts in her second hole. She hadn't put too much effort into makeup that morning, but lip gloss was easy enough to touch up and the rest of her outfit was simple enough that all she had to do was throw on shoes and grab her bag and she'd be ready to go.

[Text to Wonderboy: See you in fifteen. smile ]

Katrina snagged a light jacket on her way out, slipping into the car she'd finally convinced her mother to let her borrow if she didn't want her riding around at all hours on 'that damned bike' and bothering the neighbors. If the clouds rolling in were a sign of anything it was that she didn't want to be caught out on her bike if the sky opened up.

She checked the map on her phone to make sure she remembered which route was the fastest before taking it. The drive itself was clocked at taking longer than fifteen minutes, at least according to a map enforcing speed limits, but Katrina was fairly certain she could make it there in less than that if not exactly on time. The car might have been an older model, but at least it still had life and a little bit of vroom.

He'd made it in thirteen minutes and, thanks to a lead foot, she'd made it in 14:59. Her hair was tousled from the highway drive with the windows down, but pulled back into a pony tail it only left a few wisps and strands flying away from her face. Her eyes were bright and she seemed happy, her expression only getting brighter when she caught sight of him.

She stepped up onto the sidewalk not far from him, flashing him a broad grin. She seemed to be pondering something for a moment before leaning up on her toes, brushing a light kiss to the corner of his mouth before she could second guess it any further. "Thanks for meeting me, Wonderboy."

She leaned into his embrace and would have happily stayed there for a moment if he hadn't let her go to take his hand. She gave it a gentle squeeze in an attempt to be reassuring. "I-- My head wasn't in the best place the last night we saw each other. We were doing good, things were really good and then all of a sudden..." Swept away into the Negaverse, the promotions, Prissy's anger and frustration... It had all been too much too fast.

"I didn't mean to make you think I wasn't-- I am. Interested in you, that is. I like this. Us. Whatever it is. It doesn't have to be anything, but-- It's good." She was going to start rambling and that thought made her face flush as she glanced up at him for a moment before looking to the door of the diner.

"We're supposed to be celebrating, not worrying. No more worrying until after we've eaten, hm?"

"Really complicated. Sometimes, at least." She settled onto the plush seat of the booth, setting her purse down in the corner as she made herself comfortable before reaching for a menu. Her fingers tapped at it lightly before she glanced up at him.

"I'm not going to do that to you. I might need space sometimes, just to sort through all of this, but I wouldn't..." Friends meant way too much to her to just disappear without any word or notice otherwise-- Funny, really, when she did things like that to her parents all the time.

Beneath the table she nudged his shin lightly with the toe of her boot. "You're important to me, Wonderboy."

Katrina paused for a moment, setting her menu down before slipping out of the booth. She slid around to his side of the table before scooting in beside him to crowd his space, gently placing one of her hands over his. Words weren't always her forte, but she hoped to make it clear enough with actions that she was good, that this was good, and she didn't want anything keeping them distant right now.

"You're supposed to be smiling when you're out to lunch with a pretty girl, Wonderboy-- James. I'd have to be out of my mind, more so than usual, to not be interested in a datedate with a guy like you. I might even have a dress I can break out for the occasion," she teased, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

"Graduation for Meadowview? Or your graduation?" She kept hold of his hand, her own eyes lingering on their twined fingers as her other hand brushed lightly along his wrist. Her attention shifted back to his face though and she was glad to finally see him smiling, even as a light flush brushed her cheeks after his kiss.

"If you're talking about your graduation-- You know I'd be there in a heartbeat if you wanted me there, right? I could probably talk Prissy into coming too. I bet she'd have a blast trying to find me something proper to wear." Something more tame, at least; appropriate for something as serious as your boyfriend's college graduation.

Boyfriend. Was that what he was now?

"What are you thanking me for?"
