School: Knightside Elementary - 8th Grade

History:
Coady went into the system when he was Eight. SIx years later and an uncle outta the blue shows up and claims he's 'family'. Say's Coady's mother was his older sister and that if he'd known the kid was in care instead of with his father, he might've done something about it sooner. It's an interesting trial period for them both. Coady and Triton - Coady's treating it like another foster situation. Like he's next on the list to be gotten rid of at the slightest provocation - moved onto house number ten for acting up and pissing the guy off. Except Triton seems in it for the long haul, offers outlets instead of offering excuses.

Coady's still holding his breath - waiting for the other shoe to drop - because six years is a long time to spend without permanency, and no one wants a thirteen year old kid, even if it's a nephew. Guardianship, and what does that even mean for someone like him, and when it all ends in a few short years? When Triton inevitably drops him at the nearest DCS office with his things in bags and an icecream cone from a fast food joint? What then?


Hobbies:

Dogs: - He adores dogs and wants one more than anything else in the world, but his foster mom is allergic. So he sates his apatite for a pet by reading everything he can on them, planning for the days to come when he'll be on his own and can have any dog he wants! He googles his favorite breeds, and occasionally watches the local pound finds and 'free dog' ads on Craigslist; occasionally calling in the local re-homing shelters..anonymously of course..because he's been told that free pet ads always lead to really bad things for the pet in question..He hates puppy mills, and will never understand why people don't get their animals fixed. Especially the hoardery types...

Random Trivia: He loves popping into adult conversations sounding smarter than he really is. He'll occasionally listen to random tidbits of news, or watch one of those quick 'draw it' documentaries on the net. So he can spout off random stuff about 'universal heat death' or..how one of those presidential candidates ancestral last names used to be Drumph..

Rollerblading - He owns em' so he uses em', besides he finds rollerblading much more fun and enjoyable then riding the bus to and from school every day. He also uses them as a casual way to get out of being 'encouraged' into any sort of sports. His foster mom wants him to have at least one active hobby, and he's chosen this.

Virtues:

Gentle Giving Nature - He's not loud about it, but he does enjoy giving back to the world; even if it's only in small ways. Calling someone about the lost dog he saw, or putting some of his own money into those little charity boxes at local stores; ASPCA is his favorite. He likes making sure shopping carts go back where they belong, and he picks up litter that isn't his; because he has to live on this planet too, even if he doesn't always want to. He can only imagine how annoying it must be for other people to have to live and work with things like that, and doesn't want to be the type of person that adds to the problem.

Try, Try again - He's willing to try new things at least once and keep at the things he actually likes; no matter how hard he seems to fail at them. When he tried rollerblading for the first time he scraped both knees and landed on his face, but those few moments before that, where he was actually moving, were sheer bliss. So he kept trying until he got the hang of it. He doesn't seek mastery in any form, so much as he seeks success on his own personal level. Learning to play chess the right way, was much more important than winning a game of it. Learning to swim more a worthy survival skill; than seeking to join the swim team.

Even when trying something new feels hard; knowing that it's possible gives him the courage to try it. He's not willing to throw himself at impossible things, but he is willing to try all things possible at least once. It makes those days where he finds something he's good at that much better, and the days when it backfires on him that much more annoying, but it never stops him from trying.

A Friend in Need -- He doesn't believe in being popular, or that you need a huge amount of friends to be happy. He's good with finding the few people that can stand him, and sticking with em'. He believes friends, the real kind, should be treasured and stood by; despite their flaws. That there needs to be loyalty and trust, because those things are hard, but without those things there isn't really friendship. Just a bunch of strangers who know your name. He's happy to have people around him who need him, as much as he needs them.

He tends to put new people he interacts with on a 'trail period', saying to himself that "I'll try hanging with this person for two weeks..and if nothing comes from it, I'm out."


Flaws:

Tantrums -- Unexpected outbursts, foot stomping, the works. He has a tendency to fixate on negative things, like a dog with a bone he has trouble with letting things go and walking away. Sometimes he will wake up in a bad mood, remember that one crappy thing someone did a long a** time ago, and just stay pissed over it throughout the day. He'll apologize the day after, but when he's in that mood he's stuck in it - it takes him a while to work himself out of a funk mentally - maybe some more alone time.

Mouthy -- Off the cuff sarcasm and it's often enough that he doesn't have a filter for his words. Impulsive with his speech, and oftentimes the wrong words come out at the exact wrong moment, and suddenly he finds that he's being an a**, and then arguing for his right to talk like an a** - because what he said is what he meant - even if he wished he'd rather not have said it at all. He was thinking it, obviously, or he wouldn't have said it? The mean, blunt, harsh thing that he really - really - should've kept in his head and out of his mouth.


Destructive -- All that bottled angry has to go somewhere, and when it's not his mouth, its his stuff..or someone elses stuff..He's never punched a person but he's broken many a pair of headphones, dvd's, plates, toys, pencils, lamps. He's reached into other peoples backpacks, taken out that one thing he knows they love, a thing they maybe need, and just trashed it. Sometimes he's literally thrown it away; knowing exactly how distraught they'll be. They deserve it, if he's upset, then everyone else should be to.
