Sarabauite sighed, shutting her eyes to the cold sting of the wind hitting the fresh scar her forehead.
Once again, her mother threw a tantrum and started throwing things. This time, her wound was from the remote control. Who knew such a stubby thing could draw blood, but it apparently did. While it had clotted some time ago, it still hurt like a dickens, but Sarabauite couldn't even work up the effort to complain or even spew tears regarding her circumstances. The most she could do is swallow her feelings and accept that, once again, she was to blame.
"Stupid, stupid..." she muttered to herself, waggling her tasseled bookmark in front of her face. "S-such a stupid thing you've done again, Jinxi. You never learn, huh?" She pushed herself from the chimney she leaned against and glanced down to the city beneath.
Balling fists, she grit her teeth and cried out, "Hey, D.C., y-you hear that? Jinxi Carmen's a real idiot!"

Chrysocolla just wanted to head home. It was late -- it was -- and she did need to study for finals; so even though she'd only been out draining energy for maybe half an hour, she felt rather happy with herself: but all that vanished when she felt a Lieutenant's aura ( alone!) and the sobbed yells of a young woman -- and if she thought about it...same place. Lieutenants shouldn't be out alone, anyways. The Senshi got brutal. But if they were young -- young like her, young like Amphitrite (she knew Amphitrite was young, factually, but sometimes it still boggled her that her sister was barely an adult the way she held herself and took care of both of them), young like Sylvite -- Well. She'd never needed guidance as a first-stage. (She couldn't remember that at all, anyways. Not even her fuku. Nothing.) But Amphitrite would understand if she was a little late...if her sister was even home at all. She steeled herself and teleported around the corner from Sarabauite, trying to look as harmless as possible even with her aura, and stepped around the corner. "Um. Are you okay? I mean, I know you're not, but -- if I can do anything to help, or anything...."

Sarabauite jumped so badly, it felt like her starseed looped around the cauldron twice and came back to her.
What frightened her wasn't Chrysocolla's voice, but her aura. It was like comparing the flicker of candlelight to a roaring bonfire. Or, at least to the lieutenant. The only thing that brought her some peace of mind was that there was familiarity in it. Another member of Chaos was with her, that enough was good.
"A-ah, hello," she said, forcing a strained smile. "And, um, I'm fine. Y-yes..." Her voice sounded far away as she turned her head away from the eternal. "I'm... fine..." Yet, her tone obviously meant she wasn't.

Chrysocolla held her hands out in a placating gesture, trying to seem as small as possible (which wasn't physically that difficult, given that she was 5'2"). Was this what Cinnabar felt like all the time? It was...honestly more than a little uncomfortable, to have a girl older than her cower. They were allies! Maybe friends. She just had to not shove her foot in her mouth. "Um -" it took a second to figure out what to say - "you don't have to lie to me, okay...? I can hear you're not okay. It's kind of my powers." (No it wasn't.) "If you'd like, I can power down...I know the aura is kind of distracting? Are you new? I don't think I've seen you before..." Nailed it.

While Sarabauite was still not completely familiar with the magic of the Negaverse and its members, she wasn't hesitant to believe Chrysocolla's claim. A small frown tugged at the ends of her lips and she dropped her head to the ground as if she were just scolded.
"N-no! I mean, no, you don't have to do that. I'm just not used to all of this... because I am new, yes, ahaha." Sarabauite scratched the back of her neck and smiled sheepishly. "It's only been a few days since I've joined, so a lot of this is new to me. It's kinda... had me at odds with my home life, ahaha." She fingered the scar on her forehead as she said this. "T-that's it, really. Ma... I mean, my mother doesn't like it. Me being out, that is."

"I was new too, um, last July," Chrysocolla admitted softly, taking hesitant steps closer to Sarabauite. "It's kind of scary, right? You find out you have this whole new secret identity, and you have to fight the forces of evil or whatever and they think they're better people than we are...it sounds like something out of a comic book. And it's all big and horrifying at first, and you think it'll replace your life, but it just..." She shrugged. "It doesn't. It adds on." (To be fair, if Sarabauite had known Chrysocolla better, she'd know that about 75% of that entire thing was bullshit. Chrysocolla hadn't had a life to be replaced -- she'd built her entire life off of what little she'd had still. But it added on and upwards, and she wasn't just Chrysocolla, anyways.) "Oh, sorry, um, I didn't see that -" she fretted for a second, grabbing for something not quite real - until suddenly she was holding a little glowing orb, and she pushed it towards the Lieutenant, eyes wide. "This'll make you feel a little better, um, if you want it? I don't mean you have to, but - it's the best I can do...I'm sorry about your mom."

Sarabauite found herself bobbing her head to everything Chrysocolla said, completely distracted from her approaching. Yet, when the white-haired lieutenant looked to her, she wasn't as spooked as she was before.
"Y-you're right, you're so right..." she said. "It's been a balancing act... but a good one. Definitely a good one..."
Her eyes steadied on the proffered orb in surprise, but then she had to mentally rebuke and remind herself that is was magic. It always was magic, and it existed. She'd get that through her head one way or another.
"Thank you," Sarabauite said, reaching for it. Yet, when she held it in her own palm, she found herself studying it instead of... doing whatever she was supposed to do with it. "Um, how...?" she asked gently, blinking. "And it's all right, I'm used to it, ahaha."

Chrysocolla smiled meekly, her entire demeanor nonthreatening without even really trying. Compliant. Gentle. If not for the aura, she could have been just as new as Sarabauite. "It gets a little easier, I promise, really...you learn how to figure things out. Oh, um -- it's an energy orb...! If you eat it, it'll give you some of the energy; just think of it like some candy." She paused for a second, contemplating. "It's kind of weird at first, I guess. But when I got thrown in, I had my sister, so...she'd already been a part of this. Sorry if this is kind of rude, but...who recruited you, and did they tell you anything beyond your name? Some of the generals are --" Chrysocolla winced -- "they're...they're not super great at making sure you know what you're doing."

"Candy, huh..."
Sarabauite contemplated the orb again before accepting it into her person. Suddenly, she felt renewed with vigor and energy; her center feeling light and airy. She had to shake her head to the feeling, something so alien and comforting at the same time.
"Oh, it was General Aurostibite and, um, sorta?" She cast Chrysocolla a sheepish smile. While she still confused, she didn't want to speak ill of the man who brought her into the Negaverse. "He told me a lot, explained... But it's me. I didn't really, well, understand. I kinda did, but I still have, like, a lot of questions. Do you mind... answering some?"

"Aurostibite," Chrysocolla contemplated, humming quietly to herself. "...I've heard of him, but I don't think I've ever met him, actually...but sure, um -- if you have any questions, I'll do the best I can!" She perked up at the chance to be helpful, eyes bright and smiling with ill-contained excitement. "I know it really sucks when you don't get good answers, so...lay it on me, I guess?" Unoderi god, imagine if she offered sarabauite a starseed

There was a low thrum in the lieutenants head, the many questions she had to ask popping in and fading out of her conscious thoughts. Where to start and, most importantly, how exactly to end? When Sarabauite opened her mouth, the questions came out in a garbled mess of words indecipherable to human ears (or, well, any ears for that matter.) She hooted in surprise, covering her mouth with her fingers, before taking a breath and starting again.
"O-okay, first question: We, um, we collect energy, right?" She indicated the orb that was once in her hand, but not anymore. "What for, exactly? A-and does it hurt people when we do?"
Daekie o god it'd be like the start of an addiction

Chrysocolla winced, when Sarabauite's questions all came at once; it was loud and it hurt and even though she'd gotten better about making conversation, something like that...it still hurt. A lot. But she plastered a polite smile on her face and waited for the lieutenant to repeat her questions, fingers twitching restlessly. "We collect energy to basically keep us going. Think of it as kind of like...a tithe, I guess? An car needs gas to run...and we need energy." She smiled, friendlier this time. "And it doesn't hurt when you collect energy...if you give me your hand, I can drain a little from you? And then you can drain a little from me, if you'd like." Unoderi im ready for sarabauite to show up on my strange addiction for eating a s**t ton of starseeds

"I see, I see... That makes sense."
While Chrysocolla's words eased some of her worries, Sarabauite nodded her head at the offer. Stretching her hand out to her, her fingertips twitched in uncertainty.
"G-go ahead," Sarabauite said, cocking a chin at her hand. "I just want to feel what it's like. T-that's all."

"It doesn't hurt," Chrysocolla tried to assure the older girl, hands folding over Sarabauite's wrist with unpracticed movement. She fumbled, then, for a second with her hands -- trying to get her fingers to line up and feel right -- before realizing belatedly oh, wait, I'm actually trying to be a good role model, aren't I. And that, if nothing else, got her to shape up. She bit her lip and furrowed her brow, focusing on her hands, on the sense of withdrawing and taking - and a flickering orb formed in her cupped, looser palm, dim but growing slowly brighter and more solid every few seconds. After maybe half a minute, she decided that was enough, disengaging and handing the energy to the Lieutenant. "It just feels like that. It's tiring, I guess? But it's not going to kill you, or hurt you; you'll just need to catch up on sleep. And now you try!" The Senshi smiled nervously, stripping off one of her gloves and holding out her dark-skinned wrist. "Just, um, kind of focus on the concept of pulling the energy out, ok? On your hand, too...like you're channeling something into it. It's weird if you're talking about it, sorry."

Sarabauite could only observe and take in all of Chrysoclla's actions—fumbles and all—as expected. When the orb began to form and then solidify, her eyebrows rose as she felt a small sense of fatigue overcome her body from her hand upward; her fingers falling slightly limp. When the energy was returned back to her, she felt like her old self, though now with the added confirmation that there was indeed no pain.
Her head bobbed all the while to the senshi's explanation. "R-right, right," she said, eyebrows now furrowing in concentration to Chrysocolla's offered member. "Pulling... Pulling... Hrmmm..."
Sarabauite's tongue stuck out at the side of her mouth as she concentrated on the mental image of drawing something out of the sailor and into her hand. She wasn't sure what, but the mental image of an pear came to mind, and soon the blobby form of a orb flickered above her splayed hand. Soon as it seemed tangible, the lieutenant felt a small spasm of excitement surge through, breaking her concentration and, with it, the orb.
The lietenant frowned and sighed. "Ah, well, I'll... get the hang of it, eventually," she said with a small laugh.
