Remarque loved the temperature this time of year. Spring was all right, but the pollen in the air, and all the animals and bugs buzzing about was annoying—the but temperature was great. Not that he'd admit it, but the aroma of blossoming flowers made his nighttime patrols a bit more enjoyable.
But he wasn't out for temperature, or flowers.
He was out for company.
For business.
The tingle of an energy signature—Order—was more than enough to spark his interest and direct his course towards it. He wasn't shy—he never had been. Either he was going to get a good talk, or a good fight out of things, and when basic senshi were involved?
He had a good idea of what to suspect.
Remarque was only parading about as Eternal Remarque; while he loved flaunting his Prince form, the energy signature it came with sometimes wasn't worth the trouble.
He didn't even need to utilize the mirrors to reach this senshi quickly, and once he spotted him, he made no effort to hide his presence.
"You look a bit overdressed for a regular senshi. Doesn't the heat bother you in that getup?" he prompted, leisurely approaching the male. He didn't walk with any hostility—instead, he seemed friendly enough as he spoke.

Eternal senshi signatures, especially those tinged with Chaos, were something Hydrus paid attention to. Logically, it would be suicide to not pay attention to them. While Mintaka's signature was the same as the one approaching him now, he couldn't be sure it was her. Still, the robed senshi raised a plastic cup of hot tea to his mouth and took a sip, trusting that whoever was approaching wasn't malicious.
He didn't doubt they existed, but his dealings with the Dark Mirror Court had never ended poorly.
Bright blue eyes glanced over at Remarque from the rim of his tea cup. The Dark Mirror senshi was incredibly colorful, almost like a Mardi Gra costume. Hydrus gave a nod of his head in greeting, and pulled another cup from his sleeves for the other senshi.
"It's actually rather... lightweight I've noticed. The flowing layers help let the outfit breath. Would you like some tea?" he asked in his quiet voice, simply pouring tea into the other cup and offering it to Remarque.
"I am Hydrus, Senshi of the Levianthan. You... are one of the Dark Mirrors, like Mintaka, yes?" He gave a small, polite smile over the offered cup.

Remarque eyed the cup he had been offered and seemed to debate—for only a second—before he offered a smile and accepted it. He was not much for drinking strange liquids from strangers, or tea, but it would have been rude to decline. "Appreciated," he said, accepting the cup and taking a swig.
"I'm Remarque—Dark Mirror Senshi," he affirmed, "Of Puppetry. Leviathan, that's a pretty good sphere. Did Mintaka make a good impression?"

"It is quite a decent sphere, less you're afraid of water," he said solemnly, taking another sip of tea. He paused, pouring himself more tea before answering the Dark Mirror's question.
"Quite. I... remember things, from the future. She and I were friends then, and have reunited now. She has... given me a way to escape the... horror of my homeworld." He smiled at the other senshi, a sort of smile that betrayed and masked emotion all at the same time. He took a sip of tea again, falling quiet.

Remarque cracked a small smile, himself, but it wasn't easy to read. He was watching Hydrus casually, not with the eyes of a predator but with the eyes of someone who was interested.
"I see," he said after a pensive moment, and took another sip of the tea he had been offered. There were a few things rolling through his mind, but if Mintaka had offered this Senshi a way out, there was really only one thing he could think of—only one true way to escape.
"…Did she invite you to the Court?"

Hydrus was silent for a moment, before nodding his head. "... She did." He sipped his tea, refilling the cup a few times before continuing.
"I've thought about it... and I think I will go through with it. I've no real reason to stay as I am, if it'll tie me to a world I will never want to return to." He placed the cup down on the bench and threaded his arms into his sleeves, very Jedi style. "I suppose I could simply... destroy the pen, but I would be lying if I did not... enjoy the ability to be something more than I usually am. Something outside the expectations set upon me."
Hydrus shrugged ever so slightly, looking towards Remarque again. "How is the court, if I might ask? Mintaka has told me some, but I confess I am curious as to how it works. Informed decisions and all that."

Remarque's eyes lit up and his interest was piqued; he hadn't heard someone say they wanted to join the Court in a long time, and he'd be damned if he didn't try his hardest to make sure this one didn't slip through his fingers.
"The Court would welcome you," he assured. "It's a great many things. Actively looking few new members. There's a lot of room for growth. And, if you're interested in escaping your homeworld, you'll be your own Senshi if you join the Court. And it comes with new powers. Mirrorwalking—move from Point A to Point B in a few seconds. And we've got Mirrorspace—a whole world of its own, just waiting to be explored. To be honest…"
His voice trailed off and he shrugged. "…It's nice. Being able to do your own thing. Knowing that your loyalties lie to yourself and the Court. People you can see, and talk to. People who will have your back if you need it, civilian or powered. We've got a lot of room to grow, but nobody goes into this alone. You're not fighting for some Moon Queen, or her agenda, or dealing with the politics and general mess of the White Moon. Plus, the Negaverse gets off your back. You don't have to like them. I'm not a fan, myself. But they sort of tune you out if you're a Dark Mirror Senshi." He shrugged. "I haven't found a downside, yet."
…Except, he wanted to get into space and hadn't been able to.
Yet.
If they had more people working towards the goal, he had no doubt that they'd make progress. The Court just needed a little more help, first.

As with everything, Hydrus listened quietly over his tea cup. Mirrorwalking seemed rather useful; being able to go from point a to point b without having to jog through points c through f certainly had it's benefits. Small, close knit from the way Remarque talked of it. A family within a sea of Chaos, really. Hydrus had not dealt with many agents of the Negaverse in his time as a senshi - the youma more liked to ambush him on the way home - though the thought of not having them out for his head did help sway the decision some.
"How does one become a Dark Mirror Senshi?" he asked, sipping his tea pensively. "You say I'll be my own senshi, but will I still be... me? Mintaka did not seem any different, but then I only knew her civilian identity briefly before she joined the court."
Hydrus supposed that most who were in his family situation would rather not continue to be themselves, at least partially. Yet Hydrus was rather... protective of the knowledge he'd worked hard to obtain over the years of schooling. His tea preparation, the many philosophies he'd researched under simple curiosity. The ability to count to ten, even.
Power always came with a price, though, especially power steeped in magic.
"... I've heard rumors Chaos takes a part of you as payment when it changes you." He glanced up at Remarque, the lightest trace of worry in his face. T'was a price he could pay, so long as he was ready for it.

Remarque glanced over once more. "Maybe that's true for the Negaverse, but there's very little price to join the Dark Mirror Court. You'll still be you insofar as you'll know who you are, and who you were. You'll remember everything. Your accomplishments, your history, your friends and family. The only thing is…they won't recognize you. You could corrupt tonight and tomorrow your mother wouldn't recognize you if you crawled out of bed and met her downstairs for breakfast. That's the hardest part of it, though. You'd have time to prepare, to figure out how you wanted to say goodbye. But you'd have to leave that life behind."
He leaned back and drew in a breath before continuing, "But we'd help you. You'd get settled with a new identity, and you'd get all the paperwork to make it look legit. You'd get a fresh start. Any mistakes, any regrets you had? All gone. You get to pave a new way and be who you want to be. But, no. Our Chaos doesn't take a part of you. It changes you, to keep you safe. To keep your loved ones safe. But I've yet to find a drawback other than that. I'm still the same person I was before I joined the Court, and the ones who corrupted into it seem the same, too. But more liberated. They're free. They're happy."

A new start. No expectations, no set goal to meet. Freedom. In that moment, Hydrus found himself at a crossroads. One path lead him down the same path as his father, years of medical or law school to toil away until old age, a wife and several children, and the expectation that they would follow his path. Until now, it had been the only road he'd ever walked, not one toe out of line. His awakening as a senshi had skewed the path, yet not changed it.
Now, now though. A path shot off to the side, untread but distinct. It promised so many things: family, power, freedom. It invited him with open arms, and the only thing he had to give up was his family.
He wondered if it was heartless how quickly his mind was made up. It would crush his mother, yet... A hidden flame of anger pooled in his chest for a moment. She'd turn a blind eye to it, like she had his whole life.
Hydrus stood, placing his tea cup on the bench. "I'll do it. I will send a nice little letter to my parents at a later date, announcing, my decision to take a job out of the country. I'm sure my father will appreciate my decision," he said, malice dripping from his voice. Oh yes, he'd be so proud. Hydrus let out a chuckling sigh.
"I think I know the perfect name, too."

Remarque's eyes flashed and he lifted his head a bit, as if proud. His heart was pounding and his adrenaline had already spiked, but he did a decent job of keeping a calm face.
He nodded, a grin slowly planting itself. "Well then, my skills are at your disposal. I'd be happy to indoctrinate you at your earliest convenience. We could do it right now, right here, if you wanted. Or, I could take you into Mirrorspace and we could do it there. The choice, Hydrus, is up to you. But I think you're making the right decision. You need to do what's best for you, and…"
His voice trailed off, for only a second, and he finished, "You'd have to work pretty damn hard to convince me that the Dark Mirror Court doesn't have everything you need."

He hadn't expected it to be, well, now. Or do able now. Hydrus blinked at Remarque - who clearly was more excited than this than he was - and raised his eyebrows in mild shock.
Apparently his assumption there was some sort of ritual, or seven day fast, or pledging to the Old Gods (may they slumber on) was incredibly off the mark. He supposed that's what he got for not researching the process more. At least there was no blood sacrifice or whatnot.
Hydrus stood, shaking the folds out of his fuku. He collected his tea, slipping it into his tunic in a practiced motion of diligence and patience. He took the moment to really consider his decision, to really think about doing it now in the park. Mirrorspace sounded rather interesting, but there was something... final about doing it out in the open. Several hundred worries and tasks cropped up into his head, and he pushed them away for the time being. He could deal with them later.
"I would... ask that Mintaka be present, if she's available. She is... much like a sister to me, and I would... like it if she's there. When I come out of this." If his voice faltered any, Hydrus didn't let on. Even he who could logic his way through almost any still felt the weight of his decisions threaten to crash down on him. A familiar face would help solidify his choice.
"If she's not, I understand, and will humbly join the Court irregardless."

Remarque nodded. "I can do that for you. I'll reach out to her, I'll see if she can make it. If not tonight, any night you are free. If she is like a sister to you, then I know she wouldn't miss being there for you in a time of need."
And she was a reassuring presence. Mintaka would, no doubt, ease him into the corruption. Hydrus would likely need someone to guide him in while settling into a new civilian life, and while Remarque was willing to do all that was necessary, it didn't mean it wouldn't be na easier transition if a friend was already there to help him.
…Giving Mintaka a little bit of warning meant that they would have time to do what hey could to ensure Hydrus had a place to stay and would be well taken care of.
"Should we meet back here in a few days? Same time, same place, the three of us?" he asked.a-disgruntled-dragon I am so sorry, I lost the link for this and didn't realize it was my tag until now!

Hydrus nodded and bowed. "This sounds acceptable to me. I shall get my affairs in order and pack my things." That would give him enough time to move his meager set of belongings (by most standards) into a storage facility. Not quite a lot of notice for the landlord, but he didn't need the deposit back. Easier to do it now, than when the landlord couldn't recognize him.
He packed his tea into his tunic. "A few days then. I will see you then. " He gave another formal bow to Remarque, making ready to venture home.Kyuseisha no Hikari hon you're okay no worries lol

Remarque offered Hydrus a faint wave and watched as the senshi departed. He lingered in the area for a short while afterwards, but it was less for any real reason and more to ensure that this hadn't been some delusion—some dream.
No, this was real.
Maybe there was still hope for the Court. He'd have to do something nice for Mintaka when this was all done and over.a-disgruntled-dragon Let me know when you are free for more RP 8D <3
