[[Occurs 30 minutes after "Cross to Bear" thread]]
I
Blaise stood at the front door. Delilah injured and still bleeding in her arms as she fumbled with the knob of the door before getting frustrated and kicking in the door, "I swear I'll fix that later,.." She commented to a very anInoyed looking Cordelia who was just about to open the door for her. Blaise smiled awkwardly then moved into the house, looking for Michael. She walked through, not finding anyone except for freight train and shark boy sleeping on in the hallway... on a couch..... A curiously raised eyebrow at the peculiar sight made her give pause, but ultimately kept moving. Making her way outside, she spotted Michael tending to his garden. Walking up to him, she shifted her weight nervously. "Uhm... Michael?.... This girl was looking for you." She spoke calmly then looked down to the girl in her arms, blood soaked into her dress as a deep gash ran along her back from her shoulder diagonally to her hip. Blaise frowned and waited for Michael to make some stupid retort about it. She had been curious why this girl had been looking for him despite her injuries, and had been freaked out about the hotel being collapsed. "Is she some kind of assassin out to get you?" she asked, trying to get a better understanding of the situation. "Should I... Heal her or kill her?

Michael looked up from the garden he was tending to. He had started these gardens for medicine and food between the different bases. He removed his gardening gloves, revealing smaller black gloves underneath them. Many people didn't see his hands. He got to his feet and examined the girl Blaise had. "Did...did you do this?" Michael stammered. "Heal her. Please don't let her suffer more..." his voice trailed off. "If you did this, pray to whatever you believe in. " his voice was cold, calculating, and devoid of emotion. "Pray tell we hurry. " Michael pushed up his glasses and hurried into the house, holding the door open.

Blaise had a flicker of confusion and concern on her face as he seemed genuinely concerned for her as though he actually did know her. As Michael started in on threatening her she shook her head, "Of course not, you know my handy work, and she doesn't have a burn on her." she forced out suddenly, starting to get pretty freaked out by Michael's demeanor. He moved toward the house and she quickly followed. She moved to his room and kicked his door in, "sorry. I'll fix that too." she commented with no empathy to her voice about it, her concern being the girl. As she set her down on the bed, she moved to begin healing her, but was met with resistance as Delilah stirred awake.

"D-dont!" she shoved Blaise back, straining as she tried to move but couldnt. "G-get away from m-me!" Delilah shouted, not realizing she was even inside a house let alone in front of Michael and Blaise.

"Delilah. It's Michael." He cooed, trying to soothe her. "We took you away from the bad people. I got a healer. We are going to help. I know it hurts. " he reached out to stroke her hair. "Let my partner Blaise have a look at that wound. If she were to get worked up, it would mean the end for them. He looked over at Blaise, absently stroking Delilah's crate.

Michael paused for a moment and then sighed. "Her dossier. It won't work. Blaise, get me the medical kit from the shelf." He pointed up to what was a medical crate.

Blaise nodded and moved to get the first aid kit, bringing it to Michael quickly. After a cursory glance to Delilah's hands, her eyes went wide. "uhm..,Michael... I think she's doing that black death thing that Kylar saw her do..." she commented with a bit of panic in her voice.

Delilah was trying to regain her bearings as she looked over to Michael and she stared at him in surprise before softening her expression, "M-Michael..." she spoke softly through a weak voice. She reached up to touch his face but stopped as she noticed her own hands turning black as Blaise began to point it out. She withdrew her hand quickly and took a deep shaky breath. "..c-calm down... J-just calm d-down..." she whispered to herself as she tried to focus on making it go away which was not much use as it only contested it to stop spreading. "...y-you... should r-run.." she warned, scared she was about to lose control again.

Michael shook his head. "You're gonna be okay...Everything's going to be alright." He opened the case and drew a covered syringe. He bit the cap off and spit it out. Squeezing the plunger, he made sure the air was out of the needle and stuck her with the syringe, pushing morphine into her system. "You're gonna be okay. This is going to numb the pain so I can get you cleaned up and stitched up." Michael pushed his glasses up again and looked at Blaise. "You can leave if you want." He took in a deep breath and put a spare face-mask on, then wrapped his hair back in the bandanna he kept in the box for such occasions. "Just bring me a bowl of hot water."

Delilah was shaking as she was trying to calm down as it didn't look like Michael was going to listen to her warning. She wanted to call him an idiot for endangering his life by staying near her, but she couldn't blame him. Even she had endangered her own life just to find him again. Especially after what she saw on the call during the parley. She took in a sharp breath as he injected her with morphine. Closing her eyes to steady her breathing, she tried to calm her mind as best as she could. Focusing on the fact she finally found him, she opened her bright green eyes to look at Michael with a longing expression. "..I.... i'm... s-sorry..." she spoke softly, it was getting harder to talk as she just began to sign incoherently. Her breath was slowing down and the black was fading from her hands. She paused, taking in a deep steady breath as tears formed in her eyes.

Blaise watched as she began to use sign language and she frowned, not knowing it at all to get what she was saying. She nodded at the request to get hot water as she darted out of the room and after some noise and yelling in the kitchen, Blaise entered back into the room, a single red imprint of a spatula on her cheek as she grinned awkwardly. "She didn't give me much time to explain... But, hey, here's the water you asked for." she set down a pot of hot water on the nightstand and looked to Michael with a frown then to Delilah. Man, he had cut her up something good as she wished she could heal her up, but from what she gathered, Michael had seemed to say that she couldn't be healed, maybe a resistance or something, she didn't know. But Michael looked like he knew what to do. Was this his... girlfriend? No, he'd never mentioned this girl before ever, so why did she show up now? Blaise shook her head of the thought, it was just too complicated to figure out at the moment.

[TRIGGER WARNING: Written Surgery?]

Michael grabbed a sealed baggie from the box and took the clean towel from it and put it in the basin. He wrung it out and then started wiping Delilah's wound down. "Make sure no one interrupts me." He removed his large gloves revealing his gnarled hands. There were spots that looked like their flesh was missing and other spots where the bones looked broken. He grabbed a prepped needle and thread. Reaching forward, he slipped the needle under her skin and began stitching Delilah back together. These were necessary skills that his father had taught him. Every once in a while he would stop, cleaning her wound again and applying more morphine to Delilah to keep her sedated. When he was done, he attached gauze to her wound to protect his stitch work. He cleaned his hands down once more and left Delilah on her stomach. Patting her on the head, he got up and went to the door. "I'm done." It had been over an hour and a lot of pain, but it was worth it for her. It always was for her...

Blaise nodded and moved to the hallway, leaning against to door frame to make sure no one bothered him. She waited with boredom, but respected his wishes to guard. The way he touched her and talked to her, this girl was really important to him. Now she felt bad for not trying to do more for her before bringing her there, even though it seemed there wasn't much she could have done anyway. Cordelia walked by to check with Blaise on the girl. They exchanged whispered conversation and Cordelia left for a few moments, and returned with extra clothes for Delilah since they appeared about the same body type.

Delilah was struggling to stay conscious, the blood loss and morphine working in tandem to make her close her eyes, drifting in and out. Only slight stabs of pain kept bringing her back to consciousness now and again. He hadn't responded to her, so it was likely she want even signing properly or that he simply didn't know it. It would be too much effort to talk, she she remained still and silent. The thought cross her mind a few times that this all might have just been a dream, having seen Michael again so soon was such a stretch of luck she simply felt she didn't have. She began to think maybe she had died or at least passed out in the middle of nowhere and this was her just coming to terms with her imminent death. She heard his voice, and she reached out a hand but then hesitated and retracted it. No, it was best he didn't touch her. She'd probably just hurt him by doing so. She sighed lightly, keeping her eyes closed, not wanting to move as she laid there.

Michael turned back around in the room and pulled a rolling chair to his bed side. He turned the light off in the room and left his bedside lamp turned on. " I'm sorry Delilah. It's the best I could do. No one will hurt you anymore. I'm here. It's Michael. I'll strike your enemies with vicious blows. " he wrung his hands. They hurt in the bare air as they dried. He grabbed a small jar out of the first aid kit in the floor and rubbed his hands with a putrid smelling ointment. It was a concoction his father had put together to keep his hands from ultimately falling off. Michael knew the risks. He just had to find a way to make himself immune from Delilah's plagues. He'd spent a lot of time researching that.

Delilah took a deep breath, forcing her eyes open slowly, though still heavy. Just trying her best to keep consciousness as she listened to his voice. This had to be real. She wanted so badly for this to be real. "m-m-michael.." she forced out through her uncontrollable stutter that only seemed worse under the influence of the morphine. He was reassuring her that no one would hurt her anymore and her eyes teared up but then she swallowed hard, trying to keep her emotions in check, looking at her hands to watch light waves of black tint slither across her skin in glimmers as she desperately tried to keep her ability at bay. She shifted her eyes to see him put something his hands, noticing the state of them. She furrowed her eyebrows in concern. "...a-are you.. o..o-okay..." she labored against the words, just trying to get them out. She dare not move as she frowned, piecing together the information more slowly than usual. "...y-you're h-hurt..."

Blaise stood in the doorway a bit as she held up the clothes and looked away as though she was giving him.. them.. their privacy. "I have some clothes for her whenever she can wear them.." she offered and awkwardly set them down on the desk and quietly moved back to the doorway. Folding her arms, she frowned, trying to decide if she should say anything. After a few moments she sighed and left into the hallway. If he really needed her, she'd been within earshot.

"Delilah, please...just rest. My well being is no ones concern." He murmured, reaching out to stroke her head. He thanked Blaise and turned his attention again, focusing on Delilah. "There's morphine in your body. Just relax, rest, and let it run its course. It's so that you wouldn't feel the stitches darling." he breathed in heavily. "You need to be in a better state for me to explain anything."

Delilah was reluctant but slowly nodded and closed her eyes. She wanted to argue that it mattered to her, but she simply didn't have the strength to even speak. Taking another deep breath she drifted back into sleep.

The next day she winced as the sun shone on her face from a slit in the curtain. She instinctively tried to move to get up but winced as her body reminded her of the injury along her back. Taking a steady breath to stay still for a moment, she then blinked, looking around at her surroundings. A bedroom. Definitely not hers. Had it been a dream? No, this was definitely real. "..M-michael?" she called out softly, not sure of her bearings at the first moments of waking up.

Michael had been snoozing in the corner and heard a faint knock at the door frame and the distinct smell of breakfast. Kate always did deliver. He got up to take the plate from her and then heard Delilah rouse. "Oh, good, you are awake." He smiled, moving to Delilah's side and putting the plate on the nightstand. #How are you feeling Delilah?# He questioned once in sign language to her.

Delilah sighed with a noise of discomfort as she caught sight of the familiar black haired meta, her face full of concern as she tried to move again. She lasted only a second longer than the last time she tried, before settling back down, halted by the slight pain it caused to move too much. She watched him come towards her as her face softened but her eyes still held the pain and fear she had felt to think he had been in danger. Delilah's eyes flickered to his hands as he signed to her, a smile growing on her lips in relief and flattered he still remembered. #There is pain, but I am fine. I was worried about you. I did not mean to cause so much problem.# she signed back slowly, her expression slowly turning to one of longing. #I thought you were-..# she paused, #I missed you. A lot.#
