Thursday nights, contrary to what some might think, were actually rather lively nights to be out and about. Business people called it 'Thirsty Thursday' for a reason, and with the weather warming that meant patio seating at local restaurants and bars.

Which, of course, meant a lovely, friendly cat could get herself well fed visiting such a place and flirting with the patrons.

By the time Ash had made her rounds, her stomach was pleasantly over-full and she had been stroked so many times that she was more than ready for a nice nap in the last of the sunlight. The tall brick wall that disguised the restaurant's garbage bins made for a good place to rest and digest on top of, putting her squarely in the last fading rays.

With no one to see her back here, the mauvian called up the holograms on her headset and began to browse through the information she had available to her in a sort of lazy way. The map showed her the location of various senshi she knew of and some new entries in the Nega database caught her eye, though they weren't anything particularly Earth-shaking developments. Things had been relatively quiet since the attack on the Negaverse, for which the guardian was quite grateful. How long it would last, she didn't know, but she was going to take the chance to rest for as long as she could. Her team had gotten a bit frayed around the edges in the last battle... it was good for them too, this time to recoup and recover.

Training should probably be high up on the list of 'things to do next', but not now. Not yet. She didn't have the heart to break up their tiny 'vacation time' with more senshi work. Soon though... she couldn't put it off forever.

Thursdays to Bob meant take out day - Robert tended to stay late on Thursdays to make up for slipping out early on Fridays so Bob would naturally have to take himself out If he wanted something besides cat food to eat.

It hadn't been hard, figuring out the best food joints in the local area; there happened to be a swanky little shopping area a mile or two from his neighborhood that hosted an array of options. Italian, Mexican, a couple little cafes and something called Americano, a genre of food he hadn't quite figured out. Why call it something fancy - and didn't most of America's food come from other places anyways?

So here he was, ready and prepared to flex his acting skills for a belly full of nachos and spaghetti noodles, maybe even a meatball or two. But as soon as he'd arrived to Los Amigos' outdoor dining patio, a suspicious non-taco smell caught his nostrils.

His nose wrinkled. Could it be?

Could another cat have found its way onto his new stomping grounds?

He didn't particularly care that another cat was getting food, but coming in for sloppy seconds tended to make the restaurant patrons a little less willing to part with their tasty morsels. Especially if the first cat through happened to be cute, like a kitten or some nonsense like that.

The large tom cat made his way by the metal divide of the Mexican eatery, pausing only briefly to bat his eyes at some of the customers. Earning nothing more than a stare and a single pity-nacho, he finally made his way closer towards the other feline's scent...which happened to still be lingering in the breeze. Perhaps this fellow foodie was still lurking around?

Rounding the corner, his question was soon answered. And man, what a pretty little answer it was.

The Order aura practically dripped from her, but that did nothing to distract from her youthful, slender beauty. A pretty gal with clearly good taste when it came to food - a win/win, if you dismiss the nagging feeling he got from her alliance.

"I wondered who had nabbed up all the bits this evening," his voice was a slow drawl, his approach equally leisurely, "But I can't blame the humans for giving up their food to a pretty lady."

Her attention on the maintenance of her beloved databases, there was little mind paid to her surroundings. She was on alert for predators and humans... not so much other cats.

When a voice came from somewhere below and to the side of her position, Ash jumped, twisting as she came down to land on all four paws. The motion sent her tail bottle brushing and for a moment, she couldn't see anything past the hologram that still hovered a short distance in front of her face, swinging around wildly as she flailed about and it kept its precise location in her view.

Ash impatiently smacked the side of her visor with a paw to close down the hologram interface and then blinked owlishly as the light disappeared and her eyes adjusted. It was only then that she recognized that sour feeling in her stomach as a tiny Chaos signature. Small enough she wouldn't have known it was there, if she hadn't been practically on top of it.

The silver cat's tail lashed as she leaned over the edge of the wall, green eyes wide behind the purple of her toy-turned-computer visor. What she found, to the disagreement of her too-full stomach, was a very large, very orange, and very male tomcat. Who was also very Chaos, by his signature and the ugly black star on his face.

WHY is everyone so very large? It is entirely unfair! He called her pretty though, and the appeal to her vanity took some of the venom out of the reply she had been planning to make.

"They know a well-bred, well-behaved and deserving Lady when they see one." She said, her tail still a stripped puff behind her as it swung back and forth. He was moving closer and she crouched, fully ready to launch herself to safety if need be. "Of course they share. I'd be surprised if you could find anything here... and besides, you should be leaving, because this establishment is under White Moon protection. You can just... take your chaos and corruption elsewhere!"

One slender paw was extended and the ginger tom was shoo-ed, the burmilla's nose lifted imperiously.

"And a good evening to you too, beautiful."

If he was put off by her condescension, he failed to show it. He failed to show any emotion, in fact, save for the brief glimmer of amusement when he noticed her startled reaction.

Her paw gestured out, clearly dismissing him from her presence. Huh. Regal little thing, wasn't she. Probably had a pedigree, on top of all that fancy Mauvian looking stuff she was tinkering around with. Bob liked electronics but half the time he found simple satisfaction in the human's stuff - television sets, in particular. Meh, maybe he was just old fashioned like that.

Rising up on his back haunches, front paws moved up to smooth the worn, silk tie wrapped around his neck. His long, bushy tail curled around his back legs as a single green eyes dared to give her a wink.

"Found you, didn't I?" His claw caught a loose string and he absentmindedly tugged it as best he could with paws. If he managed to tear this one, there were plenty of others he could borrow from. "You don't have to worry, sugarkitten, I was just looking for a bite to eat, not tryin' to take over the world tonight."

Plopping back down on all fours, he dipped his head - his way of giving her a quick bow in her general direction. "I'm Bob, by the way. And you, my tightly-wound friend would be...?"

Hmm. Well. That didn't seem to work.

The silver cat watched him smoothing his tie down and when he winked at her, she gave a soft hmph sound of disapproval.

It was a ratty tie. And she was not intimidated by how big he looked sitting up, thankyouverymuch.

"I was not trying to hide." She said as she sat up primly, her own sleek tail curling around her paws as though to show him how someone of class sat. "And I'm not your friend."

The question became though, what to do about him. Mavians weren't, traditionally, combat oriented. He wouldn't be hurting anyone tonight, she was pretty sure. But there could be unawakened senshi about, and if he found them before she did... the Negaverse could recruit those poor children before they knew what was going on. It was not something she was going to stand for, certainly.

"Bob..." She drawled when she finally pushed to her paws. It wasn't a very... creative name, but then again, she had met some cats with names that were equally silly. Her own could be classified as such, but she preferred to consider herself named after a tall and stately Ash tree, rather the gray powder left after burning something.

"My name is Ash and I am the Silver Lady." The sleek little form jumped down from the wall and turned end over end, but in a burst of sparkles and light, she landed on two bare feet rather than four dainty paws. The short woman's cloak fluttered to settle around her as she straightened up, and Ash flicked a trailing tail of blue hair back over her shoulder with an imperious motion. It was gratifying to be larger than the tomcat now and the guardian took advantage of it to look down her short, rounded nose at him as she braced a hand on her hip.

"I'm sure you've heard of me. I'm protecting this area, all the way from Main street to 29th, so don't get any ideas about trying to poach any of my senshi! I promise you'll have a rough time of it."

His eyes grew wide as she transformed in front of him, the large cat falling backwards and nearly toppling himself over, if his thick tail hadn't been behind him to keep him balanced upwards. She was a pretty dame on two or four paws, but with taking the upper hand in the size department, she was now someone he clearly needed to watch, less she decide to kick him around or some other nefarious, high-strung approach she might have to guarding her alleyway.

Both paws raised up and wiggled, as if implying he had no tricks up his non-existent sleeves. And really, considering his lackadaisical approach to his Guardianship role...he didn't. Any senshi would be lucky to even spot the orange tabby, much less ask for his assistance on anything. He preferred to be far away from the drama and mess, not right smackdab in the middle of things.

"Woah, woah, sugarkitten - Ash." The paws waved more, raising up slightly. "I don't want any of your senshi. You've got the wrong guy!"

He wasn't about to bring up the fact that no, he hadn't heard of the Silver Lady on the off chance it would upset her further. She seemed to be a big deal around here (or at least to herself, but hey, he couldn't complain - she had the looks to warrant the attention!). "I said I was hungry, not trying to start a fight. Capeesh? Temporary truce? Less-angry-more-chatty? All the kids in this area are yours, okay? I swear."

If she wasn't willing to lay off the womanly dramatics, he might have to hightail it out of there - dinner or no. Her aura alone was sending the signals in his brain all haywire, so there was no telling who or what might come to investigate the signature. If the dame was trying to flex her powers, well, she gosh darn had proven them!

Watching the big tom nearly trip over himself in surprise was immensely satisfying. Ash pressed the back of her hand to her mouth to hide her grin and struck a pose, a hand on one of her full hips and her bare feet braced dramatically wide.

"Ha! That sure surprised you didn't it?" She cooed smugly before reaching up to flick one of her long tails of hair again. Because it seemed like the thing to do, when you had long, luxurious hair to flick. And it was so very easy to look down her nose at him from this vantage point too. She almost, almost, wondered why she didn't do this more often, but good sense nagged at her, reminding her about the currently blazing little sun of a power signature she was giving off with this little stunt.

He called her by her name, dropping the irritating 'sugarkitten' nonsense, and Ash looked smug. Crossing her arms over her chest, she gave it a moment as though thinking it over before she relaxed and her form exploded into twinkling sparkles. Stretching in a long and lazy way, Ash finally settled herself and began to groom her paws.

"WELL. Since we have that squared away and you know who's boss... fine. Temporary truce. BUT, know that I've got an eye on you!" She said as she waved a paw at him.

She wasn't entirely trusting of him being in her territory, but... in the end, what could he really do? Besides steal her potential senshi? Cats were not exactly warriors... so if she kept an eye on him, theoretically, he should be harmless. It didn't mean she liked it, but attempting to chase him off when she was still full and warm promised to be more effort than it was worth.

"... What are you doing alone out here anyway? Aren't you worried some senshi is going to snap you up?" She said as she ran her rough tongue over her small paw. The silver cat didn't quite face him, but she kept a view the tomcat. She hadn't actually... had a lot of contact with chaos cats. Or even really met one, one on one. Just that time in the park, with the meteor...

"Snatch me up?"

The mirth had returned to his eyes as he watched her, now (thankfully) back into her petite, pretty kitty form and not the large and clearly-in-charge human she'd been only moments earlier. Her question had tickled him, the thought of being cat-napped more amusing than it probably should be.

"I didn't think you goody-goodies tended to be the type to steal someone off the street." His paw moved up to adjust the fur on his ear - which was probably still pointing up, out of his sheer surprise only moments earlier. "Unless the Order in this city is different than everywhere else..?"

He almost added sugarkitten on the end of his question, but caught himself before the word could escape. This particular lady didn't seem to take very kindly to his kind of compliments, so Bob figured it'd be best to lay off the sweet talk... at least for now, until he could read into this high-strung dame a bit more.

Delicate little nose wrinkled at the mirth that came from the ginger tom and Ash narrowed her eyes behind her visor.

"How uninformed you are..." She drawled, the tip of her tail twitching. "We might be as bad as the Negaverse, but my senshi are not afraid of getting their hands dirty for the good of this city, if that's what it takes. You must be rather new... or rather sheltered."

The silver cat looked away pointedly, her paws placed neatly below her.

"The Negaverse certainly has no qualms about hurting Mauvians, why should Order? Turn about is fair play, isn't it?" She sniffed noisily.

The war was a hard, unpleasant subject for a lady who found herself doing very unlady-like things in the name of protecting her own. She was not a warrior, but she had fought beside them. Because she hadn't been able to stand by and watch any longer. His ignorance and careless attitude in light of that was grating.

"I suppose by rights I should be calling one of them to come get you instead of... fraternizing. You're lucky I'm feeling magnanimous. How long have you even been awakened anyway? You strike me as rather new at this whole thing." Ash said as she tipped a green eye back at him. "How did you end up a chaos cat?"

He couldn't deny the gal had a point - how did the phrase go, all is fair in love and war? At the same time, however, it secretly provided a sense of humorous irony to him, that all these peace-loving hippy dippies would resort to such moral lows as to maim, steal or murder others to get their Happily Ever Afters at the end of the day. Did it really make them much better than the Negaverse? Or was it because they were toting around a white banner, proclaiming they were for a just cause that made them better than a side that was willing to be upfront and honest with their intentions of seeking power and control?

At the end of the day, Bob preferred a Machiavellian route that dealt with less effort on his part, more focus on either hiding out until one side came out victorious or finding the right coattails to ride on along the way. There was only so much effort a cat could make in a war.

"Moi?" One paw raised up to motion to himself, her question popping him out of his temporary train of thought. "New?"

The question bounced around in his noggin' for a moment, until it brought around his grin again, though this time it lacked humor behind its curve. "Don't mistake my nonchalance for newness."

Memories flickered back to the city of his past, of days of optimistic kittenhood and the belief that he could help make a difference in the world. For the worlds. And, just as fate would have it, he spent those first few years watching everything he helped build come crashing down around him. Children died. Destruction between the sides - no one ever, truly won, it would simply end in one temporary break after another. Sometimes the senshi would come out victorious, other times they would perish, the younger generations working hard to fight and take back what their former mentors had lost.

All in all, it was far too much heartbreak for one little Guardian to go through. So, Bob did what Bob knew how to do best: he turned to living life for himself and not some Higher Cosmic Power. And along the way, he just so happened to run into a General who felt similar at the time - resulting in a clearer vision of things. A better understanding of why Chaos would always continue to be Chaos and what was the point in fighting it, anyways?

"I was out one evening minding my own business when a particularly convincing redhead decided to open my eyes to the sensible side of things," He mused, thoughts of Obsidian flickering across his mind. "And you? I'm going to assume you've been guarding this area for most of your young, beautiful life?"

Beautiful, he said, and despite her best intentions, Ash melted, just a little bit. At least the rogue knew quality when he saw it. She did manage not to start preening, even if the urge was there.

"Sensible side of things... because seeking to take control through force with only your side to gain is sensible. Turning people into monsters to be your shock troops and killing for the fun of it is very sensible." She turned her brilliant eyes on him and her look was considering, and a little bit sad. "Perverting a good man's cause to serve yours... quite sensible."

"But!" Ash said as she shook herself out of it, all high and mighty and spoiled once more. "I'm sure you have some witty retort for that but in the three years I've been awakened to my duty I've never found the officers that have approached me to be very sensible at all. I'm sure it's different, when you're on their side."

Reaching up, Ash pawed the side of her visor and it's screen glowed to life. A sudden brightening and the screen left her face, popping out to hang shining and holographic before her.

"Message Thraen." She commanded it crisply. The silver cat angled a look down at the ginger, brows high. "I'm going to call my senshi now, so unless you would like to meet him and chance being captured so we can convince you to change sides, I suggest you run along. And I would prefer you didn't come back here, if you please."

It was a threat draped in velvet, but still a threat.

For a brief, brief instance, he thought he'd managed to dent a crack into her impervious armor, but things were quickly beginning to come crumbling down around him the longer and longer her answer became. It was evident that his words weren't taken very kindly, the beautiful little thing workin' herself up to a point where she'd returned to her original dismissive state.

His mouth opened to speak again, but she was already fiddling with her technology, bringing with it a series of glows and quiet clicks. She'd ignored him to address someone - a Thraen? - and then finally returned her icy gaze in his direction.

The threat was all he needed to know that his time had quickly run its course on their meeting. Tossing his tie over one shoulder, he was quick to pull a one-eighty and make his way back towards the entrance of the alleyway in a less than graceful gallop. It was only when he approached the corner did he dare to turn back around.

One paw rose up to toss a mock salute in her direction, his grin still there (albeit much more grim than originally). "I'd say I'll see you 'round, baby, but somehow I don't think that'll ever be the case."

At least he hoped so, for the sake of his own hide.

With that, he darted down the sidewalk and into the closest open doorway. Running into anything bigger than another Guardian cat was not on his agenda for the night... or ever, for that matter!
