User ImageName: Alrik Rey

Nickname: Al

Age: 17

Birthday: January 15

Sign: Capricorn

Gemstone: Agate

Blood Type: A+

Fav. Food: Potato chips and pizza. Sometimes one on top of the other.

Hated Food: Squash. Ick.

School: Romano's Constitutional Haven

Hobbies:

Video Games - Video games come in all shapes, sizes and formats. Alrik happens to like all of them. He's especially competitive in MMOs and First Person Shooters but he can also be found playing all sorts of app-based games on his cell phone or on his DS when away from either his laptop or his TV/consoles. Despite being a child of a later generation, he was gifted older consoles while growing up and has cherished them since (unless he was unable to put them back together again, sorry Sega Genesis). While he enjoys his Wii and PS4, he's also a sentimental beast and will return to his N64 or original Nintendo when the mood strikes him.

Taking Things Apart - Ever since he was a small kid, Alrik loved ripping the backs off of toys and unscrewing all of his parents fancy electronic devices. Curiosity always getting the better of him, the young boy always questioned HOW DOES THIS WORK? with anything he came into contact with. As he grew, he transitioned from taking toys apart to taking computers apart, studying how they work and produce the wonderful games he loves. Clocks, microwaves, his sister's hair dryer - nothing is safe until Alrik figures out how it works (and usually can put it back together properly. Usually.)

All Things German - Even though his family moved from Germany to the States when he was only a toddler, Alrik still bleeds black, red and gold (the German flag, duuuhhh). His mother insisted on the children still learning their native language, but Al took it a step further by studying up on not only the language (which he is fluent in, naturally) but in the country's traditions and culture as well. He has the flag hanging from his bedroom (alongside various WoW, CoD and Overwatch posters), orders various foods and candies from the country (thanks, Amazon!) and will brag about being a native of Germany, as opposed to being some sort of smelly American (not that he actually grew up in the country or anything...).

Virtues:

Confident - He knows how to do it. Let him do it. He can fix your phone problems, he can yoink that virus off of your computer, he can do anything you need him to do and if he doesn't have the knowledge on hand, he'll get it. Alrik is very self-assured in his abilities and intelligence and it shows in not only his words, but his approach to...well, everything.

Inquisitive - Never hesitating to ask questions, the young German-American has a natural curiosity when it comes to pretty much anything. How things work - both systems and objects - why two plus two equals four, how computers work, why does America need such a complex government to run itself? He won't accept an answer just because, he wants a reasoning and understanding as to why the answer is the answer.

Competitive (pro) - Settling for second or third place is not an option. Alrik strives to be the very best and will give it his full attention and effort to see it through. Playing video games against people or entering science fairs encourages him to work his hardest to succeed above the rest.

Flaws:

Egotistical - He knows he's good. He also knows he's better than anyone else. Why would you get him to help you with your homework? He knows waaaay more than the other guy - and her? What does she know about his homeland? While he may begrudgingly admit that some of his classmates and friends are intelligent people, he'll also argue that he's got a one-up on all of them.

Stubborn - It's his way or the highway. He knows how to do things, let him do it or get out of the way. Very set in his own ways, Mr. Rey does not easily let others tell him what to do (aside from his mother and maybe his sister) or how to do it.

Competitive (con) - Alrik is a sore loser. He competes because he's out to win and if he doesn't manage to place first, he regrets involving himself to begin with SECOND PLACE IS THE FIRST LOSER, AFTER ALL.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: turquoise

Hair: blonde

Face: narrow, tan

Clothes: prefers jeans and t-shirts when not in school uniform
PostPosted: Tue May 10, 2016 6:17 pm

Negaverse Alias: Lieutenant Epidote ; (wiki)

Challenge: Time to power you down.

Uniform: Premade: see first post.

Weapon

Lieutenant Weapon: Remote Control

Captain Weapon: Gauntlet with hidden blade like this (with the blade on the back, not the inside) which requires a button to press and makes a shhhhhtck sound because I like buttons.

General Weapon: Gauntlet has grown up his arm, providing a semblance of defensive armor (get it, ARMor) while the blade grows in size (around 9 inches, the same length of the new gauntlet since it resides within the piece of armor). Gauntlet has the ability to absorb weaker element-based powers (water, rock, fire, air and lightning) but does nothing offensive-wise (so if he shields himself successfully, the attack is absorbed and dissipates). Being hit elsewhere or failing to shield himself impacts him like the attack normally would, stronger attacks (eternal/general and higher) have greater chance of still hitting him, despite raising his arm in defense.

Energy based or large-scale attacks are not absorb-able by the weapon.

Hey Ghoul! Sorry for the delay!
Alrik as a civilian looks great!

For his powered side, I love the use of the Assassin's Creed. Especially with his love of video games. Props <3

I do have a quick question for you on his magic. How would this absorption work with some of the elemental attacks that are more AOE? Many of them have a range and are more large scale than a direct blast (like Mar's Fire Snake or Uranus' World Shaking). I just need a bit of clarity on what you consider large scale if you please?

Also, one more item for clarification: Energy based attacks, does this include things like players summoning Ethereal birds or other animals?

Thank you so much!
Give me a quote for another look!

Heyo, Sirene!

I did a doodle to help explain:

User Image

If the attack is singular focused (like Crescent Beam), he can absorb a direct hit if he's able to raise his arm up in enough time to shield himself.

If it's a more AoE attack, like World Shaking, he's essentially screwed. If it comes at him from below, above or goes around his arm, he will be hit by the attack.

I'm totally fine with him being the punching bag for most attacks, builds more character that way imo.

Energy based would also include ethereal animals/summons. Or, like in Venus' case, Crescent Beam would be considered more energy than elemental and would not be absorb-able. I don't want his weapon to be OP, so I'm limiting the absorption abilities to be strictly elemental and not everything in general.

Hope that makes a little more sense?
