Glancing around the station, she noticed the Nucleos around were acting a bit funnier than usual. When she noticed the one going to work on her, she snapped a finger in his direction with a gasp. "Hey!" There was something different about the vibe this Nucleo was giving off. Perhaps she was looking a little too into it. Well, literally. Moving extra close to his face, Elidae scrutinized his features carefully, her lips pursed in a contemplative smile. Funnily, the last time she was this close to someone's face it was this very troll, but it was under some mistlefrond. Dramatically raising her eyebrows, she then leaned back and blinked in bafflement. "Wow! It really is hard to tell!" Looking from him to the identical faces all around them, she finally rested her eyes on the Nucleo in front of her with a goofy smile.
Plopping herself in the chair, Elidae put her hands underneath her thighs and practically bounced in her seat. "I knew you were a barista, but I had no idea you were your own staff! That's so cool! And interesting!" She giggled, looking at him with wide, sincere eyes. Suddenly, she straightened up. "Oh! Actually- I had something in mind for the body paint!" Elidae rolled up her sleeve on one arm and held it out. "I was kinda thinkinggg... mmmm... maybe moon lilies?" She flashed him a bright smile.

Maybe he'd taken on more than he should've. Running a coffee stand was a lot of work already, this paint station had been an impulsive extra and was keeping his stand one clone down at all times! Letting out a breath as he sent another finished troll on their way, the greenblood pondered taking a break, feeling a bit tired after so many jobs. He didn't have the time to even blink when suddenly a wind swept in and stared him straight in the eyes.
O-oh!
He inhaled her scent, surprised at her sudden appearance and wondered if this was another one of his random nightdreams. He'd seen those lips as he drifted off to sleep and now here they were again! Flustered as he couldn't blink her away, Nucleo realized this was real.
"W-whoa! Elidae!" The greenblood laughed, trying to distract from his awkward failure to say anything! As she sat back and looked around the booth, he barely caught what she was saying but nodded along pleasantly. It took him a few moments but his thinkpan caught up and registered she was commenting on his clones.
"Yep! I'm pretty useful, you'll find. All of me!" The boy smiled, trying not to sound too boastful but wanting to acknowledge her. It was silly to be humble over the fact that it really was helpful to have a second you sometimes! The conversation shifted to the actual reason they were sitting there and he leaned in curiously to listen to her idea and paused. W-why those?
"Moon lilies, huh? Alright! They're quite pretty!" Nucleo smiled and dipped his brush into the paints. He wasn't sure if the flowers held a special meaning for Elidae but remembered taking some to her Tuskbeast Exchange recently. Had she been the one to receive that gift or did she simply like them already? Bringing the brush over to her arm, he began to lightly press the brush down, admiring her as he did so.
"Are they your favorite flower?" He asked to keep the conversation going while he worked on her. Scooting closer so he could work more intricately, the boy wanted to make this his best design yet! One even Amonee would be proud of! Nucleo wasn't a painter by any means and now wished he had paid more attention to his friend's artsy ramblings!
"Or is there a special reason you wanted one? Besides the fact that they're pretty. Not that there needs to be a reason! I, uh..." And now he was rambling. Good job Nucleo!

If Elidae didn't think he was the most adorable troll before, now she did. Smiling spongeclot to spongeclot, she giggled as the boy rambled. Overjoyed by his curious questions, Elidae took a huge breath and dove right in.
"Well, actually! Funny story! Oh, well, its not really funny, its just, you know. When I had my little gift exchange, the gift I ended up with were some gooorgeous moon lilies!" Balling her free hand into a fist from excitement, Elidae practically sparkled as she explained to Nucleo. "And I've been in love with them ever since! The person who brought the gift even included a manual on how to take care of it! I mean- I have my own garden at home, I really love flowers and so does my lusus, but I'm glad it was there because otherwise I might have accidentally killed them-" Taking a huge breath, the freckled girl huffed it out and seemed to relax back into her chair. She was rambling, too!
"No idea who it was though, they never came forward! I sort of wish they had so I could thank them." Sighing wistfully, Elidae smiled at the thought. Suddenly, she bubbled with energy and giggles, but careful not to move her arm too much. "I mean, I guess I could go through all the trolls who came and hunt them down! But I almost kinda like the mystery. Anyway! Hehe, that's all. But you're right- they are very pretty!" Glancing down at her arm finally, her mouth popped open with a gasp in delight. "And you're doing such a good job! Wow, so pretty~!!"

He watched every flicker in her eyes, unable to look away. Every move she made commanded his attention.
"Is that so?" Nucleo smiled to hide his uncertainty over what to do. He had to tell her... but she said she liked the mystery. Usually he didn't have to stop and think, things came naturally to him. She was unreadable and it was exhilarating as it was exhausting. The curve of her lips held him captive.
"Well watch them closely, I know you won't accidentally kill them!" The greenblood badly wanted to admit her secret gift giver was him and surprise her but he liked the curious spark it left in her eyes. If she didn't know who it was, it could be anyone she wanted! He wondered who she wanted?
"Yes, you are." He couldn't help himself. The smile on his face was real now, glancing up from the design on her arm to the flush on her face. His hands yearned to reach out and touch her, to take her from this place and walk through the festival of lights. Bloodfest was beautiful, a competition sure but also a celebration of coming together. He hadn't expected to have a quiet moment like this with Elidae but he was happy to be here. But he couldn't do that, he had his obligations here. It would be another nightdream for another time. They had plenty of time ahead of them.
"They suit you." His brush hovered carefully on her now, adding small bits of light to the flowers. He was deliberately finding ways to add more details to the design- wanting to keep her just a little bit longer. It was selfish of him to want more of her time but...
He couldn't help how he felt.

In response to Nucleo's concern for the flowers, Elidae's shoulders shook as she let out a set of giggles. "I won't! Of course I won't!" She reassured, swatting at him playfully with her free hand. Following the directions in the would be easy, but remembering was another. Admittedly, Elidae kept forgetting to water it and while some of the leaves were a little on the crusty side, most of it was in good health! ... at least she thought.
Oblivious and enchanted by Nucleo's work, Elidae continued to admire the brush strokes and details. The greenblood's wording went directly over her head, yet she hummed and smiled to his agreement.
"I should actually be going back..." Elidae mumbled with a hesitant tone, gaze lingered on her arm. Then she looked up to the boy's face. The smile she wore was genuine, comfortable. Nucleo's company felt like a cozy retreat from the commotion of Bloodfest, something she sincerely wanted to appreciate. But she had duties to attend to, as did he. "I don't want to be greedy and keep the real Nucleo away from everyone else!" She giggled once again, gently pulling away her arm from his grasp. After a moment to fully admire his work, Elidae learned over and pressed her lips on Nucleo's cheek in a swift motion, leaving a light smudge of black lipstick. "Thank you!"

"Wait, you-" She was leaving already? It felt like they'd been sitting for barely seconds before time was up. Biting his lip, Nucleo tried to think of more ways to stall her but he was too late. Like a warm breeze, she was there kissing his cheek- and then she was gone. Flushing green, the boy stood motionless for a full minute, wondering if she'd even been there at all. Was this a nightdream he'd whipped up himself?
But no, looking back at the paints he'd been mixing, they were still right there on the palette.
And looking in the mirror, there was still a mark on his cheek. Not green or blue but black.
He hadn't known pumpbiscuits could fly like this- it left his chest and soared into the sky before he could even try to grab it. Breathing in the sweet air of her leftover perfume, Nucleo returned to his chair. Sitting down, he smiled up at the twinkling stars, his heart among them.blackbird cake And this RP is now finished! D'aww Elidae, you spoil him! > w< So sweet!
