PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
While they’re outwardly human in appearance, one visible difference is their apparent difference in height, the average height for both males and females being 6’ 7”, with some of the taller reaching a height of 8’ 0” and above. They commonly possess a black sclera with irises that are often gray, though there have been cases in which other colors such as a neutral blue or violet have been found. Their eyes allow them to see well in the dark, but are consequently more sensitive to light, urging them to utilize some sort of protective eyewear. They also have slightly more pronounced ribcages, with males always having broader shoulders. Their bone structure is nearly identical to humans with the exception of additional cartilage which make them significantly more durable than humans. Internally, they possess two hearts that can function independently if one is out of commission.

They’ve adapted to the harsh climate, little food and water of their planet by having less need for both, capable of consuming saltwater, as well as having a natural resistance to most poisons. Their senses are very sensitive, a sensitivity that they must hone in order to turn it into an advantage rather than a weakness. Their noses rival that of bloodhounds, eyesight that of eagles, and hearing with that of owls. Their lifespans have been known to reach even 140 Earth years, though few every live up to that point. The average age they live up to is 40, since the Suldari often live very dangerous lives. Their physical characteristics earn them the title as the most dangerous race in the Parallel.

SOCIETAL INFORMATION
General Description:

Their society is warrior-based, the eldest being consulted for wisdom, while the young men and women train to be warriors. They advanced in technology when they became more creative killers, building ships to sail the cosmos, raiding nearby solar systems and planets, which is what earned them their warrior raider infamy. They were modernized by the Escala, offered their technology and guidance if they vowed not to raid their world, though they ultimately failed to change the warrior ways of the Suldari. Men and women are considered equal, as gender plays no part in a warrior’s skills. They have a knack for reproduction, as having more children means more glory to the family’s name, and discarded if they are born deformed or lame. The children are taught to fight as soon as they are born, though many children die for being too weak or incompetent. They believe that only the strongest of the Suldari deserve to live. In regards to their view of other peoples, they believe they are the supreme race and that all the others are beneath them. It’s uncommon but not impossible that they have hybrids, but hybrids are considered abominations and aren’t welcome in their society, with the exception of a select few who have proven themselves as true to their way.

Naming Customs:

When they’re born, they take on a birth name from their parents, ending with Namūn or Naman based on their gender. It is important to note that this name is only temporary, and will change in adulthood if they pass Sula’manul. After turning fifteen and passing Sula’manul, they may choose a warrior’s name, the name they will be known by from this point forward. Some merely remove the namūn or namān in their name. For example, a child may be born and named Son’man-Namūn, but after accomplishing his Trials, he may come up with his own name, maybe even just removing Namūn. It is rare that they ever conjure a surname, preferring to simply state their progenitors if they need arises.

Societal Customs:

Sula’manul (“The Warrior’s Trials”) is a special coming of age tradition that all native-born Suldari are expected to follow. Those who have not completed Sula’manul are not considered “true” Suldari. The task is to venture into the Pits of Ra’nūs and seek out a single egg from the giant worms called the Ra’vās. The Pits are almost entirely covered in darkness, and about a third of the group who venture down succeed in coming back, half of that actually succeeding with an egg. They are even permitted to fight one another for the eggs; the Suldari killing more of each other than the Ra’vās. Those who do emerge successful are welcomed as full-fledged members of the Suldari society and earn the right to choose a warrior’s name and to choose a mate. Unfortunately, finding a mate is one thing, gaining one is another. A limited amount of Cronium is often gifted to those who succeed in, so they can forge their own unique weapons and armor.

Sūn’sutoj is the equivalent to marriage. The ceremony is only valid if done on Suldar and nowhere else. It is expected to be done at night in the presence of the families of both the bride and groom. They must step unclothed into one of the hot pools of Suldar together—water itself not being in abundance on the planet to signify its importance—and step out together, cleansed. This is often because mates are often found by fighting one of opposite gender until one strikes the fancy. This usually leaves them bruised and beaten prior to the ceremony. Once cleaned, their families leave, and they proceed to consummate their union over and over throughout the remainder of the night to ensure a child.
