Over the past few days, Melvin had gotten progressively miserable. His stomach had not improved and was seeking to align it's state with his mind, being constantly shifting and confused if it wanted food or didn't, and it left him either hungry in small moments or downright nauseous at the very thought of eating. It became a tender balance of trying to just take small snacks where he could, nibbling here and there, and excusing himself during lab work to find a bathroom. Throwing up was not something most people heard nowadays unless they got super drunk, and even weapons had a nice charm in making that hard.
He knew it was nerves. It wasn't the first time he had thrown up because of them and because of Lawr, and he felt even angrier and irritable about it.
At home, it was harder to excuse himself to use the bathroom and muffle the sounds, and after a week, he just gave up trying. It was Lawr's fault for making him like this, for twisting his thoughts, feelings, and insides out of alignment.
That morning that been particularly bad, and he only grabbed a ginger-ale from the fridge, having picked up a few from the vending machines as it wasn't a popular drink, and had it for breakfast before heading to the bathroom to throw up. At least this time the ginger-ale gave him something to get rid of, and he sat beside the toilet feeling exhausted. Could he call off work sick? He doubted it.

Melvin's strange change of heart of late was equal parts concerning and satisfying. The man had turned into a snide sarcastic individual since he'd come clean with him and he wasn't sure what to make of it. On one hand it reminded him of America and her casual violence and dismissal of him in the beginning, something that quickened his pulse with adrenaline purely out of unpredictability and on the other hand it meant the death of the stable domesticity he'd come to enjoy as a source of daily repetition. Nothing was very kind now other than Rodney.
He wasn't sure what to make of Melvin's ill health and though once or twice he'd considered mentioning that with the weapons that throwing up was a pretty huge deal, he didn't press too hard, convinced that doing so would only end up in another insult or snappy comment.
When Melvin ran off again that morning though he figured he couldn't ignore it any longer, starting to suspect they were in a zombie baby situation and oddly satisfied about it. He knocked the bathroom door. "Are you all right in there?"

His back was to the bathroom tub as he sat in the ground, arm over the top of his knee as he held to the top of his ginger-ale can. "No. I jumped out a window." He snapped back, head bowed as he spoke to the floor.
After a moment he called back. "The door is unlocked. If you need to s**t, use another bathroom."

Lawrence shook his head in disgust at the implication he was a creature of bodily functions but opened the door anyway. "If you keep on like that someone might throw you out of one." he said. "Not me, I'm being an exemplary individual and demonstrating nothing but infinite patience towards your very trying comment."
"I am worried about your mental health." he said. "And physical."

"Concern from a vet. This is serious." He said flatly as he looked up and took a sip from his soda.
"It's stress. I've troen up before over it."

There was a twitch that seemed to tic Lawrence's whole body for just a second, a flash of repressed movement which transferred itself to the watch at his wrist and shunted the extra hand elsewhere. He'd heard the vet snipes before, always from someone he couldn't fight back against, his father who thought he should have been a doctor and his brother who echoed every bitter little thing that he knew would rankle his sibling.
Melvin thinking it was acceptable to make comments like that at him wasn't acceptable and only the last vestiges of his attempts to be a nice person stayed his hand from reaching for the blonde hair in front of him, yanking it back and giving him a faceful of claws.
Instead he sighed and sunk to his knees, slumped and looking defeated. "Maybe you should go see a doctor then." he said

He looked over at him, watching him kneel and was torn between wanting to be held and wanting Lawr to leave him alone. "So they can say I'm being a baby, tell me to man up and not waste their time? No thanks." He said, rising up to his feat only to feel a wave of heat cause him to sit on the rim of the tub.
"I'm just swimming in my head. Too much to think about." He rubbed a hand against his cold brow. "- feel like s**t."

"Vomiting is not a waste of time to worry about Melvin. You damage your oesophagus, you can imbalance your electrolytes. You need your stomach acid for its chloride." He took a slow breath as if pulling out the big guns.
"It will also ruin your teeth."

He slowly raised a hand to his mouth thinking about that.
"They are just going to give me Pepto." He grumbled behind his hand.
"Your fault anyways."

"Maybe they are maybe they aren't, you don't know until you ask." he said. "And it probably is my fault. I'm sorry."

"you talk like that ... makes it hard to believe you're a murderer and a liar." He came off as caring and gentle and it felt so easy to loose himself in the lie again and he almost wish he would.
Sighing, he gestured at Lawr to come closer. "Want to walk me to the Infirmary or are you still too banged up?"

Lawrence didn't argue with the accusations, simply looking away as he was called a murderer and a liar. He did look back when his attention was caught by the gesture and moved hesitantly closer again, still on his knees and everything about him apologetic.
"I'm ok." he said "I can come with you if you wouldn't rather I wasn't there at all. I don't know what you want from me lately."

"If I knew what I wanted these days, my stomach wouldn't be like this in the first place."
He stared at him a moment. "You look good on your knees." A boyish smile played on his features before he placed a hand on Lawr's shoulder and used him to stand up, setting his soda can down on the sink. "I'll get that later." He couldn't even bring himself to make the trip to the kitchen if he had to walk all the way to the Infirmary right now.
"Come with me at least to get there or I'll talk myself out of even going."

The older man made a quiet sound of indignation as he was used as a support, simply standing as Melvin did.
He didn't say he would come with him but he drifted to his side anyway.

He turned his head, resting it against Lawr's shoulder as he just stayed there a moment. "Can I just sleep here?"
