Chel was now in the unfortunate position of having to be on a college campus. The entire place made her skin crawl considering she'd barely graduated high school and the fact that the whole place was covered in words and letters. Announcements about fraternity parties, banners advertising symposiums- it was all unreadable and all uncomfortable.
But Chris needed something dropped off and that meant Chel had to be the one to do it considering she was the only other person with an apartment key. With the bag in tow she now found herself waiting outside a classroom that he was supposed to be in, but was not.

Hana didn't really need to go to office hours. Her grasp of the material was, by varying descriptions, adept, keen, and masterful. But it never hurt to be told that again and again. She new she was great, but, like, a little ego padding had never hurt anyone! Class was still in session when she arrived at the classroom, and Hana took up a sentrypost outside the door. She leaned against the wall and then, after a moment, cast a sidelong look at the other girl present. "You going to office hours?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "What section are you in?"

It didn't quite register with Chel at first that the girl was actually addressing her. Considering she looked like a Hot Topic dumpster dive, most people didn't acknowledge her presence on campus. Chel blinked a few times.
"Nnnno."
That was her response.

At her negative reply, Hana sized the girl across from her up. She had a bit of a mall-goth look, but she could roll with that - Hana herself was currently wearing an unseasonable oversized bomber jacket and a pair of denim cutoffs hacked off just below her a**. "Oh," she said, leaning forward to look through the glass panel on the door. "He's an okay teacher," she said about the currently-lecturing professor. "If you're looking for a recommendation. I heard O'Connor's reading is more intersectional. Whatever that's supposed to mean." Hana did know what that meant. For the record. "So, what're you doing here?"

Chel on the other hand, did not know what that meant. She wasn't going to pretend like she did.
"I'm waitin' fer my cousin. He was s'posed t'meet me here 'cause he left some s**t at home but he's off gettin' lunch somewhere." She muttered something probably insulting under her breath.
She realized the girl was probably making small talk because she needed the professor for something. "Oh m'not in line or nothin'. You can go in f'you need it."

"Oh," said Hana thoughtfully, peering into the classroom. The lecturer didn't look close to wrapping things up, and the students were getting antsy. "What a dork, yeah?" she suggested, in a tone of voice that didn't make her sound particularly invested. "Least he can do is be polite enough to show up." "Gotta wait for things to wrap up first," she added, shrugging. She stuck a hand out towards the other girl. "Hana," she said. chiickadee I'm so sorry for how long this took QQ

The only person that got to call Chris a dork was Chel and the squint on her face showed it. It was an innocent enough comment though, and Chel opted not to take it seriously. "Yeah he's a real a*****e," she agreed.
"Chel," she said. Well if introductions were going to be a thing. "How's life?"

Hana paused for a moment, worried she and this girl might come to blows right here in the hallway over the word dork. Then, thankfully, the moment passed - she would have hated to cause a scene. "Oh, you know," she replied with a husky laugh. "Interminable. Like this lecture, apparently." She scuffed the toe of her engineer boots against the door, imagined that it echoed through the lecture hall - though no one looked her way. "I just wanted to make sure I interpreted the Derrida reading correctly," she whined. "This is stupid." She turned away from the door in a huff, arms crossed over her chest. "So the thing you need - it's in the classroom?" she asked. "What if we just walked in there and grabbed it. Do you think it'd wind up on Snapchat?"

"Yeah I feel you," she said, in a go on kind of way.
(Chel did not know the meaning of the word interminable.)
"No, m'droppin' s**t off. M'waitin' for my cousin," she repeated, "The classroom can blow up for all I give a s**t." The only thing keeping her on the campus at the moment was the fact that it mattered to Chris; if it weren't for him she wouldn't touch this place.

"Yeah, he sounds..." began Hana, and thought better of it. Calling Chel's cousin a dork had already gone over poorly. Getting a bit more strongly-worded in her terminology would likely not go over any better. "You should text him," she suggested, scuffing the door again. This time, a few students looked her way. "Call him a dumb name that only you can call him. He'd deserve it."

"I already did," she said, having put her phone back in her pocket before the girl arrived. "He's gettin' lunch an' he's gonna bring me somethin' but he told me t'stay put." So here she was.
"S'not really a big deal I don't have s**t t'do anyways."

Finally, the class seemed to be wrapping up. Hana rolled her eyes, though she didn't really direct the expression at Chel - it was more likely intended for the other girl's absent cousin, who seemed like a total piece of work. Asking someone to meet you somewhere and then not even bothering to show up on time was the height of rudeness, and her father had raised her better than that "Oh, stand back," she suggested, stepping away as the door swung open. A steady stream of students filed out, momentarily coming between the two of them. When they finally passed, Hana nodded towards the classroom. "I've got to go see a man about a dog," she said, biting her lip. "Good talking to you, yeah?"

Chel leaned against the wall, not bothered by the wall of people. She preferred a crowd of people, especially when they were all talking abundantly; she liked listening.
"Yeah, see ya. Keep it real," she said back with a short wave. Good timing too, as Chris texted omw at that moment.
