Hobbies: Detective Life: Malcolm has always wanted to be a detective and do good for the world. He enlisted in the police academy in London at eighteen and worked his way through the system advancing to become a detective in his mid-late twenties. From overseas, he studied the news stories of the mysterious troubles in Destiny City and was greatly intrigued by the reports believing that for all the good he is doing in London, he could do more in a city that needed him more. After being promoted to detective in London, Malcolm set his eyes on a position as a detective and Destiny City and made the move. His job is his life and his passion: to solve crime and protect the innocent is his lifeblood and informs his thoughts and actions daily.
Activism: Malcolm is a firm believer in giving back to the community in a way that takes many forms. He is greatly concerns with issues concerning social justice and helping the underprivileged. He volunteers his time in multiple programs for the betterment of his community including charity races, anti-violence education, self-defense courses, donating and volunteering at halfway homes, and more. For Malcolm, stopping lawbreakers is not enough – he can always do more.
Working Out: Gotta stay fit! Malcolm runs daily and lifts weights to stay in a top physical shape. He also greatly enjoys playing soccer, his favorite sport that he follows closely – a big fan of Arsenal.
Virtues:Paragon of a Man: Not to oversell his virtues, but many would call Malcolm a good man. He is kind. He is generous. He is respectful. He does good and beyond that he
wants to do good, and this is clear in his words and his actions. These attributes may all be virtuous things on their own, but they are but a shallow yet notable fragment of his personality best summarized as his goodness.
Observant: Malcolm is incredibly observant – a useful and necessary skill that has received a lot of training in his time working to become and as a detective. He believes himself to be a great judge of character and emotion, something he attributes to being an emotionally sensitive man and empathetic to the feelings of others. He maintains a keen awareness not only of people but his surroundings so he does not march headfirst into unexpected dangers or overlook important details.
Authoritative: Malcolm plays by the rules and he knows them well. When there are no rules, he’s quick to set them and take charge. Always the first in line, Malcolm is often the leader in groups – always the one arranging the plans with friends, making sure everyone’s voices are heard and included, open to suggestion, and finding a solution and leading the direction. He does not stand idly by when more can be done.
Charming: When it’s time to play good-cop bad-cop, Malcolm always has worked best as a good cop. Just look at that smile, baby. Some just attribute it to his British accent, but Malcolm is an eloquent smooth-talker with an affinity for flattery. Making another smile brings him smiles, so keeps the charm on.
Flaws: Uncompromising: Malcolm is uncompromising in his pursuit of justice and goals. He is not okay with settling with half-measures or excuses that one has done the best they could do. There is always more and there is always better that can be done until the job is truly done. He may be told to quit, but he won’t give up or aspire for any less than he initially sought out for – for better or worse.
Unforgiving: Morals and ethics are important to Malcolm and are traits he values most highly in someone he meets. While he understands that there are shades of grey and times of moral ambiguity, he believes there is a thin line between that grey area and wrong territory. Once you have crossed that line, it is difficult for Malcolm to forgive. Depending on the discretion, no plea of sympathy will ease his judgment.
Uninhibited: For better or worse, Malcolm is not afraid to speak his mind. As a good man, he does know how to filter his thoughts that would be just plain rude, but he is free at the tongue when speaking his mind about judgments of people’s morals, actions, or behaviors. He cannot and will not hold his tongue. This has often led him in professional disciplinary trouble and has made him an enemy to many for calling them out for their behavior.
Unworthy: Humility may be a good thing, but too much humility can be unbecoming. While deep down he knows that he produces good work and performs good deeds, he always pushes himself harder to do better. He is his own harshest critic, unable to take a compliment for what it is and simply be proud of his accomplishments. While it is this attitude that drives him to do great things and push for more, it is also this attitude that torments him on a daily basis. He is not a true altruist, but one who pushes for altruism because of an all-consuming need for it.
