"You should be more careful."
The words rang in Kieran's ears as he walked around the clinic with his makeshift sling. It wasn't anything major, just a minor pull in his shoulder from slinging off of a cliff too hard. How else was he supposed to get his vantage point? The Yaeli scoffed. If cliff climbing was too dangerous for him then spirits help him. That was nothing compared to the monsters he had faced years ago. Even now the thought of them set his blood to boil.
Still, it was not time to think of such things. Closing his eyes the Yaeli male leaned back against the outside walls of the building and just allowed the sunlight to soak into his skin. It was a nice day with a warm sun and a pleasant breeze to ruffle his hair. Almost like a mother's touch...the thought instantly soured his stomach as he slowly opened his eyes to gaze at the sky above him. What a miserable life...

By the end of his shift, Tacrith was more than ready to head for the solitary environment of his home. The day had been busy with people who didn't know what was good for them...
"The jump didn't look so far as it was." "I only looked away for a second, and my son grabbed our keldari's tail." "I know I shouldn't have eaten it, but it looked so yummy." "I wouldn't have, but my buddy dared me to try." "No one told me they were poisonous!"
It was enough to give Tac a horrid headache. He knew silly things happened, but it wasn't usually so much in one day. He felt more tired than usual, and was depending on his cane more to walk out of the clinic. Outside, he took a deep breath of the fresh air and sighed. Time for some peace and quiet.
Of course, that was when a line of excited younglings came crashing out from the clinic. One of them had gotten their arm wrapped in a cast, and the others were cooing over it excitedly. One accidentally kicked the cane Tac was leaning on, and the both of them went tumbling down. After a second of gawking, the younglings ran from the scene. They didn't want to get in trouble for tripping an old man, for those were the only ones who walked with canes! The one that tripped squeaked out an apology for the "old man" and bolted after his friends.
Shifting back upright, Tac rubbed his sore leg and shook his head. So he was an old man now? He really couldn't wait to get home.

Well he had been enjoying the quiet.
As the younglings rushed by the Yaeli raised an eyebrow. Perhaps it was something in the wind that so many were stumbling about today? Must be accident season. The male chuckled quietly at the commentary about the old man before he turned the corner. It was even more amusing to see that it was rather another Yaeli his own age that was propped up against the wall.
"You alright?" Kieran questioned as he bent down and picked up the fallen cane, "I believe this is yours?" He reached out the cane as the other boy picked himself up. Was this another person who had stumbled during this past week? Perhaps a sprained ankle or something? The possibilities were limitless, but for now Kieran was just trying to help the other boy.

Straightening his back to give it a pop, he looked over at the stranger with an appreciative smile. "Thanks." Reaching out for the cane, he took his time and leaned back against the wall. "I'll be fine. It'll take more than that to take me down." Looking up, he cocked his head slightly. "You just came from inside there, right? Good thing those kids didn't smack into you, too."

"Good to hear." Kieran grinned as he followed the other's movement to lean against the wall as well, "I was fortunate indeed. I don't know if I could handle a storm of children currently." He glanced towards the other boy, "Would I be wrong in assuming that you also just visited the doctor? Must be a season for injury. Did you sprain an ankle perhaps?" He didn't see a cast so maybe it was just a minor injury that left the boy with a cane.
He glanced around them, "Seems like it might be safe for now, but if you need I can help wave off anymore stampedes. I've not much to do with myself currently with this lovely attachment..." He motioned with the makeshift sling that tied his left arm to his chest, "So if you're in need of a way to pass time as well then I'll be willing to assist."

Tac smiled slightly, and shook his head. "A little wrong. I did see the doctors, but not for treatment. I'm training to be one." Looking down at his cane, he shook his head again. "No. This... is an old thing. Broke when I was younger, and didn't heal right. I'm used to it."
He looked up with surprise at the various offers. "I'll.. keep that in mind." He sure wouldn't mind someone looking out for the stampedes. A way to pass the time though... "I actually just got done with a busy shift. My leg needs a rest, and I need a meal. Thank you, but I don't wish to be a bother."

"Oh." Kieran flushed lightly as he glanced towards the ground, "My apologies then." What a great first impression he had on this other Yaeli then, "I should have recognized an apprentice." He smiled faintly at his own foolishness as he looked back towards the other boy.
"Then allow me to bother you by eating a meal together." Kieran moved forward, "Like I said before I really don't have much to do so rather you'll be doing me a favor with the company. Honestly I'm not even sure where to get a good meal at in this area so if you have any recommendations we can eat there. I'm Kieran by the way and you are?"

Frowning slightly, Tac shook his head. "There's no need to apologize. I know I don't look like a healer in training right now." In fact, he was sure he looked a mess. Tired and irritated after a long shift...
He hesitated a moment, looking the other man over for a moment. "If you insist," he said with a small smile. If the guy really didn't mind... "It's Tacrith. ..You may call me Tac, if you wish. It's a pleasure, Kieran." Pushing up from the wall, he hobbled out to head for a small tavern that was nearby. Not the best quality meals, perhaps, but it was within the price range of an apprentice like him.

"Of course." Kieran smiled warmly. Perhaps he wasn't that eager of a fellow, but his patience definitely made him a stubborn one. If he had his mind set on something then he would definitely wait until things shifted in his favor. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Tac."
As they settled in the tavern the male glanced around. It wasn't the best place he had been to nor was it the worst. For that reason it would do. As he placed an order for an ale and some food, Kieran glanced towards the other Yaeli. "So how does one become an apprentice to a healer? Or better yet how is it to be a healer in training?" He asked with a small smile, "If you don't mind me asking."

At the least, the tavern was closer than home, so he got to rest his leg a little sooner than he would have if he'd gone straight home.
It was about the little things in life~
When the questions came, he managed to keep from wincing visibly. Always so many questions... Well, the guy had warned him that company was desired. "I don't know how others come about it, but I started working there to pay a debt. A bill for this leg, in fact. Decided I liked what I saw there, and wanted to be a part of it." Yes, because it was as simple as that... No matter. "I'm still working at it, so I must be enjoying it." Finally, a small smile rose. Indeed, he did enjoy his training. Learning, growing, helping others...
And the proper return was... "And what of you? What do you spend your time on?"

"I suppose that's one way of finding your path in life." Replied Kieran as he studied Tac. All it took was a simple injury to permanently change your life...well rather not that simple actually. "Some would say perhaps that the spirits had intended for it to happen that way all along." The male shook his head, "No offense intended. Here's to hoping that you can become a great healer one day." As his drink had arrived the male took a drink from it before setting it awkwardly back on the table with his free hand.
"Of me?" Kieran couldn't help smirking as he gestured to his injured arm, "According to others injuring myself apparently is how I pass the time." A mischievous glint of humor shone in his gaze before he simply just shook his head, "Rather I'm out exploring when simple accidents occur. This actually is the most damage I have done to myself in a while. I explore Yaeli and collect crystals and artifacts for the market. Other than that I tend to be for hire whenever someone needs an excavation or a guide through the wilderness."

Tac nodded slowly, accepting his mug of water from the server. Not the way he would have chosen, but, yes, a way. "The spirits could stand to find another way to lead us around, if that's the case," he murmured sourly. The gentle wish made him look up with a slightly lighter expression. "Thanks."
A collector of some sort? Well, they had their place in the world. "Better be careful. One day, might end up being unable to explore if you get yourself too hurt."

"I definitely agree with that." For the briefest of moments the boy's gaze seemed to suddenly darken before he glanced away into his mug. The past was the past and remembering exactly why he was a collector on his own would solve nothing. Yet the memory of losing his mother still seemed to be a fresh wound despite the years that had passed.
"So they say." Kieran smirked, "Then I suppose it would be more of a selfish gain for me. I wouldn't mind being holed up at home in my library. I could stand to rediscover a few of them." He glanced up towards Tac, "Is it strange that an explorer is also a studious sort? Yet, you can't really know what you are exploring without finding out all the knowledge that you can. It would be like healing without studying the wounds and diseases of our world."

As Kieran described the library life, Tac simply nodded. That was the life he enjoyed. Quiet and surrounded by books. He certainly didn't mind it. "You've just answered your own question," he replied with a smirk. "Why seek out something you're not willing to learn about?"

"Good point." Kieran bit into the meat he had ordered, "As a collector, however, I do enjoy hearing stories." He commented after finishing his bite, "Would it be too much to ask for and see if you have seen anything interesting? Be it your own life or another's....I'm always looking for some tales." He smiled, "Consider this a free meal for your time."
