Iory was one of the closer settlements, which made it the logical place for her to head to first. She wasn't sure if she would know anyone, really she doubted it, but she still needed things if she was going to keep going. She needed food for starters, and some of the medical herbs that she used to make her cream. She wasn't sure if they were going to have them at the market place, she really should've brought more with her, but she had to at least try. If she didn't find things her trip was going to be short lived and she was going to have to head back home.

With her cloak pulled close and the hood up Ilyra walked around the marketplace. Even though she was smaller then many sisters she was still taller then most of the earthlings, so she stood out even with her appearance hidden with the cloak. But still she wasn't given much trouble. One thing that she found amusing was the abundance of sail scales. Even though Abathur looked different from most of his species he seemed to be happy as he clung to the back of her cloak, happily looking from one sail scale to the next.

"Don't get any ideas buddy, I don't want any trouble here." she cautioned him. He was normally pretty good, but with these many of his species around she wasn't sure he would be able to behave.

Ming'we was in the market to get supplies before she headed out again. Even though she'd covered a lot of ground and seen places that would have been ideal for settling down, she wanted to get closer to the childhood home she'd left some years ago. That meant she would need to make her trip longer. With a hood pulled up over head she carried her crossbow in one hand while the other held a strip of dried meat that she was busy nibbling away at. Alkidikes weren't a rare sigh in these parts but they still gained a lot of attention. Her mixed heritage made it harder for her to blend in, but she had one less thing to worry about now. Her antennae had been cut off via her own hand.

It had been a painful experience, to say the least, but one she had felt justified in at the time. Of course some healer had happened by and tried to stop her but it was too late to save the things that made her stand out. Ming's heart was still sore from the betrayal she had suffered and she now had physical scars to show that pain.

When she turned her head she noticed right off the bat that there was someone in the crowd that was taller than the rest. Ming'we narrowed her eyes and issued a curse under her breath as she tossed her dried meat to the ground. Bringing her weapon up to be held in both hands she approached the Alkidike she knew was hiding under that cloak. Once she was close enough she clicked her weapon then spoke. "What are you doing here Alk?" Despite the conflict being over she still had a grudge against the amazons.

She should've been more observant. She should've paid more attention to the people around her and what was going on, but everything seemed so calm that she wasn't worried or on alert. However at hearing the click of what she assumed was a crossbow Ilyra's whole body went stiff. There was no way she would get to her bow in time, the very fact that she could hear the click of the weapon meant she was in danger.

"Shopping. Just like everyone else. I don't mean any trouble." She didn't move, didn't look at the person who had a weapon pointed at her. She knew that the person was a female, and that she sounded vaguely familiar, but her mind was racing about what to do so much that she couldn't place the voice with a person.

"I can leave if you want. I really just need a few herbs and a few days food and I'll be on my way." She wasn't the kind to turn tail and run from a problem, but she was vastly out numbered and as long as she got what she came for she had no problem heading to another settlement.

"Why is an Alkidike in Sauti after what happened?" Ming'we was just a tad suspicious. She took a few steps to the side, going around so that she could face the Amazon. However, she paused when she saw the lighter skin tone of the Alk before her. She knew of only one that had such coloring. Taking one hand away from her weapon she reached up and tugged the hood from Ilyra's head.

"Ilyra?" Ming questioned. She remembered the albino Alk from before. Had even gotten along with her fairly well. But it confused her that the woman would be here. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be home?" Or at the very least in Jauhar. And although she was speaking to Ilyra like a normal person she still had her weapon pointed at her.

"After what happen? We aren't all bad, just because some of us are doesn't mean the rest of us have to stay on our island. Some of us fought for the Earthlings against our sisters. I fought against the extremists." She assumed that the girl was talking about the war with the extremists. She couldn't think of anything else that had been done recently with her kind. Even that wasn't all that recent, she couldn't see why a grudge would still be held over that war.

When her hood was ripped of she went to pull it up, but stopped when she saw Ming'we. A smile spread on her face, but it was short lived. At seeing that Ming'we no longer had her antennae! "Ming'we what happened to you!" She said with wide eyes. She should put her hood back, the sun wasn't good for her, but she was too much in shock. She was so shocked that she didn't even realize that the weapon was pointed at her.

Since the cat was out of the bag she reached up and pushed her own hood down. Anyone could see that the impressions of her antennae were missing if they knew she was supposed to have them. "I cut them off. One less thing to tie me to the Alkidikes." Ming'we didn't bother to try and hide what had happened. "If I could I'd cut my markings off too." Clearly there was hate in her voice for what she was.

"I know you would have fought against them, Ilyra." In truth when they last met they had both been viewed as different from the purebloods. Ming for obvious reasons and Ilyra for her pigmentation. "But I fought against every Alk. After I was left for dead in a ravine.. and then they came into Sauti.." She had even denounced her family.

Tears had started to gather in her eyes but she ignored them. "What are you doing here Ilyra.. why aren't you home with your girlfriend?" Ming'we remembered a small mention of such in the last time they had spoken. After all, that had been when she'd flirted a lot.

She was shocked. She couldn't even imagine life without her antennae. Life without her markings. Sure she was always the odd one out when it came to her kind, but still. They made her who she was. She couldn't even start to fathom the pain that she would feel if her antennae were cut off. Even one of them, but both. No it would be a terrible fate. She didn't know what to say, she had known that Ming'we had no love for the Alkidikes, but this was extreme.

"I'm sorry to hear that... If I would've known..." She would've what? She would've most likely still been in hiding, still a hermit. "It should've never happened. You know we aren't all bad?" She wasn't bad. Her mother wasn't bad. There were many of her sisters that were good, but it was sad that some people only saw the bad. But it was not their fault that there were so many bad seeds among her sisters.

"She's... She's gone. Been gone sometime after the war. I stayed at home in morning for long enough, which is why I'm here. I had to go and see the world, have to go and leave my home and branch out for some time." It was hard talking about it. But it was easier, easier now that time had passed and easier now that she was out of her home.

She finally lowered her weapon. Ming'we shook her head. "Don't." She didn't want to hear words of pity from Ilyra. "I can't hear pity from you." She hadn't wanted to hear it from Dem either. And that had resulted in Dem getting shot in the chest.

The blonde wanted to lash out. Here was an Alkidike in her home land. But it was Ilyra. She was different. Even among the Amazons, despite being a pure blood, she was different. So she took a deep breath and tried to let go of that anger.

Luckily the subject change was enough. Had her antennae still been in place they would have drooped, in fact she was sure she felt a phantom sensation of them doing just that. "I am sorry, Ilyra. What happened?" Ming was curious to know if she had been struck down during the battle or if something else had happened. "You don't have to tell me, of course, but I am sorry you lost someone so special." After all, the hybrid could relate a little.

She nodded. She understood that. When she was going through her great depression she had not wanted anyone's pity. She had not wanted those who didn't know what she was going through, what she was feeling, to tell her it would all be okay or that they were there for her. She assumed it was the same for Ming'we. Despite the fact that they were both different from the other Alkidike Ilyra would never know the pain that Ming'we felt. They were similar, but yet so different still.

"No you are my friend," or at least Ilyra felt a friendly connection between the two of them the last time they talked, "so I have no problem telling you. The worst part is that I don't know. I believe it was during the battle, since her brother was a hybrid and she was so close to so many earthlings I believe she was a big target for some of the extremists. But I didn't see her after the war started, and it wasn't until a few weeks after the war that I was told she was gone so I don't know if she fell during the battle or after it. Thank you though. Loss is never easy, but I am finding getting away from home is helping the healing process."

Not knowing was the worst. At least Ming'we knew where her former lover was. Kinda. And she knew he was alive. So she gave a frown as she thought back to the battle. Had she shot anyone down that may have been a high priority target for the extremists? The blonde didn't think so. She might have taken pot shots as a few normal Alks but never at anyone who may have been a bigger thorn in the side of the extremists.

"Yeah, keeping busy is a good idea. It helps.." Ming was trying to do that as well. With the threat of conflict passed she reached over and managed to unload her weapon without actually firing it. "So where are you headed exactly?" If they were headed in the same direction then Ming'we could accompany her for part of the journey.

She watched as Ming'we unloaded her weapon, only then remembering that it was locked and loaded in her direction. She always found cross bows so interesting. While she would've never traded in her bow and arrow for one she could see why so many Earthlings used it. Maybe if the elders weren't so set in their ways the Alks could have them, but Ilyra knew that would never happened. New things were almost never welcome among her kind, among their kind.

"No where really. I stopped here to get some food, and I needed a few herbs for my skin cream. Without it I'll dry up quickly here. I knew it would be hot, but man I don't remember seeing this much sun last time I was out of the forest." Then again she had never been in Sauti, just the lands around it. It made her appreciate the forest a little more.

Her eyes went skyward for a second. Ming hadn't thought about that but it made sense. Ilyra was fair skinned, so harsh sun would cause her to burn. Without even really considering her words she gave a nod and said, "The temperature gets lower the farther north you go. My childhood home is out that way." And North was closer to the ice lands of Zena. "So if you head that way it'll be less harsh on your skin."

Though now she was eyeing the market a little as she tried to remember which stall had the best herbs. She knew she'd passed one or two at some point. Ming'we had set aside her anger toward the Alkidikes in favor of Ilyra because she was a friend. However, that only meant that her hatred wasn't aimed at the albino woman, not that she had forgiven the Amazons. The blonde pointed to a stall that was on the other side of one selling clay pots. "That couple there have the freshest herbs. They might have what you're looking for." So long as Ilyra wasn't looking for something rare then Ming'we was sure that what she wanted would be found there.

Her eyes grew wide. That sounded like a wonderful idea! "Thank you! For sure I'll head that way. To be honest I wasn't really sure where to go from here. There were so many options and I don't really know people here to ask them which way is the best. Are you heading that way?" From traveling part of the way with the group she met up with Ilyra realized that traveling with others was much more enjoyable then traveling by yourself. That way you got to talk and it helped pass the time more quickly. Plus is was always safer to have an extra set of eyes watching out.

She nodded. "If you could accompany me that would be awesome, at least to the stall. I feel like in this instance your mixedness would greatly benefit the reception that I got." Although she knew that Ming'we reaction to seeing an Alk was due to her bad history she wasn't so sure that others wouldn't react in a similar manner.

There was a short nod that was given before she spoke again. "I am. I plan to settle down out there." Ming'we had been dreaming of her farm for some time now. And since she was left with no one now seemed like as good a time as any.

As Ilyra mentioned her mixedness she gave a grimace. "I'd rather you not call me mixed. I only acknowledge the wind tribe in me." Still, she could see why the albino would want her to come along. So without farther ado she motioned for the other woman to follow her. "Come on. Lets get what you need so you don't blister." Ming'we headed right for the stall she had told Ilyra to go to. It seemed like she wasn't going to waste time looking at other things.

So far from the Alkidike's home. So far from Aisha. She knew some sisters chose to move away and live far from Aisha, but she was pretty sure Ming'we was doing it on purpose. In fact she was completely sure that was the reason. The fact that the other girl didn't want to be even called mixed, that she wanted to pretend that she was completely of the wind tribe, was just crazy to Ilyra. You couldn't change who you were, it was just impossible. No matter what Ming'we cut off or what she said she would always be part Alkidike. However that wasn't something that Ilyra was going to tell her. They were friends, and she wanted to keep it that way.

"As you wish." she said nodding her head as she followed the other women. When they got there the woman seemed to look from her to Ming'we for a second before starting to speak. Ilyra quickly explained what she needed and the women went to work looking for it.

While they had time Ilyra went back to talking to Ming'we. "I'm not sure how you keep your skin from burning, any of you really. I know mine is more sensitive then most, but it seems anyone with fair skin would suffer from the sun."
