She paced nervously, biting her lip as she glanced around as she waited. She hadn't seen her sister in years, not since the terrible accident. Inara was still fuzzy on the details, though over time her memory had started to return. She took a calming breath, silently chiding herself on her outward display of emotions. Was she not trained in the arts of containing her emotions? She typically wore an unreadable mask of expression on her face, having mastered the ways of subtlety. She took the moment to compose herself, waiting for the sister she had unknowingly abandoned. Guilt bit deeply into her heart, but she knew there was opportunity for forgiveness and reconciliation. She hoped she can prove worthy from Caitlin.

She had arrived early and remained hidden, watching her sister with dark eyes full of hate. She ground her teeth, seething with renewed anger. This mare before her had abandoned her. Their family had been butchered in from of them and the two ran, and Inara abandoned Caitlin, seeking shelter from the two-leggers and leaving her to die in the forest alone. There was no one she hated more. She took a steadying breath, trying to bring herself under control. She was here with a purpose. Roland and Anita had primed Inara for their meeting, never knowing the true reason Caitlin had requested it. She would manipulate Inara, pulling the puppet strings and slowly ruin her life, as Caitlin's had been ruined. The thought calmed her and she was able to control her face. Raising her head proudly she walked out to her sister.

She turned when she head the sound of someone approaching and her breath caught in her throat. She saw immediately the similarities, the parts of her that were part of Caitlin and her heart broke that the two had grown up apart. It wasn't fair. She was speechless as her sister gracefully walked up to her, her face expressionless. It made sense for her to be guarded, since Anita had warned her of Caitlin's true feelings about her. She didn't know that Inara had been grievously injured and lost her memory, that she had not known she had a sister for years. Looking at her now the excuse of not remembering seemed like a poor reason to leave her alone. Tears welled up in her eyes unbidden, uncontrolled. Her face fell and she let herself be open with the only sister she will ever have. "Caitlin... oh Caitlin I am so sorry!"

She wasn't sure what she had expected, but the tears caught her off guard. What was Inara crying over? Caitlin hadn't even begun to ruin her life yet! She hadn't yet been shown real reasons to cry. How dare she play the victim like this! Rage bubbled up but Caitlin tramped it down. No, she could not let loose the anger all at once and be done. Her revenge must last years, as her torment had. She affected disinterest at Inara's display of feeling. "I've been told you had lost your memory," she said, keeping her voice carefully neutral. "You shouldn't have to say sorry for that," she added. Plus 'sorry' wasn't enough to cover it - not by a long shot! She thought. She pretended a slow smile, as if she were happy to see Inara after all these years. "I hear also you have a lovely daughter. My son met her." And relayed my phony messages of making peace.
