Frustrated was the best way to describe Chandra's current mood. He had gone to his dad's place to try and pin the man down so he could have his much dreaded 'talk' with his father. It wasn't that he hated his dad, he just didn't spend a lot of time with the shifter. Less so since he was no longer a child. His anger stemmed from a lot of things, a lack of interaction, the feeling of being tossed aside, the confusion when it came to his mother and his uncle.

It wasn't a secret that his uncle Jacinthus had a great dislike for Chalcedony, though it stemmed more from his mate and what use to be their relationship. Chandra was fairly certain that getting his mother knocked up with him and his brother didn't help things either. But everything was always swept under a rug when he asked about it.

It angered him and made him resent his father even more. Walking he was counting out what little money he had saved to see about buying a new book in town. Arwen was resting atop his head while they moved about on this sunny day. The last thing Chandra expected was to actually run into his father, he had written off the meeting since he couldn't find him at his house, how the day would hold many surprises for him.

Chalcedony was on his way back from another of the bounties that he'd taken, one that had him working quite hard to deal with a trio of troublesome radaku pups. It had quite a while to finish up with the lot of them, to make sure that they were unable to mess with the fishermen or anyone else that they had been hassling. Two of them had been rehomed and one of them was still on the end of a leash. He had no idea what he was going to give to it, maybe to someone else that wanted such a beast, doing his best not to let himself get attached to the tiny creature.

He turned to glance at it, then looked forward again just in time to run into someone, "Ah! Excuse me, I wasn't paying..." He gave pause, blinked a couple times, then smiled, "Chandra!" With a happy sound he wrapped an arm around his older son, dragging him closer, giving him a tight hug, "It's been a while since you've visited, Chandra, how have you been doing? How is your magical training going?"

Chandra had been startled at the collision, so much in fact that he stiffened on instinct. Once he heard his fathers voice he couldn't help but stare at him. How...convenient? Or where the gods making fun of him? His thoughts were a jumble all he knew was his dad was hugging him tightly, acting chummy as if their time apart meant nothing. It caused him to frown and avoid looking his father in the eyes as he gently pushed himself away from his dads embrace.

"Its...going...well.." He managed between teeth looking down and noticing the small creature his father was towing around. Is that who Aysun got his addiction from animals from? Their dad?

"What...are you..doing?" Chandra managed as he pointed down at the radaku pupm "Please tell me your not giving that to Aysun.."

"That's good to hear, I've heard that you have been training with your uncle. I hope it's helping you as far as developing your powers?" Magic wasn't something that Chalcedony understood, never having the knack for or even inkling of such a power, so he was glad that there was someone that his oldest son could turn to for help in such matters even if it turned out that it was Takoda who was aiding him. It was a... strange twist of Fate, but in the long run he was glad for it if it was helping Chandra.

Turning his attention then to the little radaku he gave a shake of his head, "Ahhh... it's a long story. There was a bounty out on this one and his two siblings, I've gotten homes for the two of them, homes that aren't your brother, but I haven't gotten a home for this one yet." There weren't a lot of beast tamers about to rehome the strays to, meaning that he was sort of stuck with this one at the moment.

Giving a shake of his head he said half to himself, "I seem to be picking a few strays of late." Turning back to Chandra he said, "Your brother already has a radaku so I doubt he needs a second one."

The hybrid couldn't help but give a sigh of relief after all his brother did have enough animals as it was. Even if he had come to accept some of them he didn't feel Aysun needed two of every creature either. Unconsciously he took a step away from his dad when Takoda's name was brought up. It wasn't that he wasn't grateful for Takoda's assistance in learning magic, in fact he owed his uncle quite a bit for saving Arwen as well as teaching him the basics.

"So....you...hunting bounties?" He managed trying to form some sort of conversation. Wanting to keep his head calm and not let emotion take over. It was hard, he didn't want to look his dad in the eye. Chandra felt that if he did stare at that face he would want to punch it.

Chalcedony nodded his head, "A few here and there, those that seem as though they are something I should do personally for one reason or another." The coin was useful but never tended to be the reason behind why he picked one job over another. Instead it was the contents of the job that seemed to draw him, "The first one was a job that involved battle and collecting pieces of the monsters I hunted, then there was the capture of the orphan pups. Nothing too dangerous I assure you." He didn't want Chandra to worry that he was doing something foolish... even if that first job had been a battle against some menzuri. It was more the circumstances that caused him to fight them then an actual desire to fight giant spiders though.

Giving Chandra smile he asked, "Planning to stay for long? Or just swinging by for a short visit?" The boys were grown now, their visits fewer and farther between then when they were younglings, but it was to be expected with growing boys he supposed, "I'd love to have you as long as you wish to stay, and if you like I can introduce you to... well, another stray I picked up. Though I hesitate to call her that since it seems a little mean."

Listening to his dad ramble on about a bounty of 'rascally radaku pups' he had to resist the urge to roll his eyes. Wow his adventure sounded...thrilling. Picking at his cuticle he gave the appropriate 'i am listening sounds'. A yah here and oh there.

"Guess that's why your too busy...to visit..." Chandra muttered under his breath before stiffening again as his father inquired if he was going to visit for long, his head snapping up to stare at his father when the word 'her' was brought into light.

Stray? Her? His father sounded to happy about this 'stray' and by all accounts it lead him to jump to conclusions. His father must of found another woman to be with and his face flushed in anger.

"Well I hope you don't dump her like you did with mom!"

The words were loud and to the point and well slipped out before Chandra could really stop himself. It was tactless and hurtful but maybe he wanted to hurt his dad in some small way. Face flushed with anger he gritted his teeth and looked away again.

"I'm leaving," Chandra snapped unable to bridle his anger. He knew that it he stayed he would only say more hurtful things.

Chalcedony lifted an eyebrow, head cocking to one side as his son mentioned him being 'too busy to visit' though it was a muttered thing. Was it a comment that he wasn't supposed to hear or one that Chandra wanted to pretend he wasn't supposed to hear? He found himself wondering how he should respond. It wasn't that he didn't want to go visit Chandra wherever he might be, but just that he didn't seem to be traveling as much of late. His reasons being those that were a bit on the complicated side that would make sound like a crotchety old man.

Reasons that were forgotten as his son was suddenly snapping at him that he hoped that he wouldn't 'dump' Rajani as he had Keilana. The sort of words that seemed to come a bit out of no were, easily slipping passed his defenses, and struck deep. He blinked a couple times as his son seemed to turn away from him, saying that he was leaving. All of it leaving Chalcedony reeling a bit.

What... was going on on? What was that b*****d archer filling his son's head with? Was he telling Chandra that he'd dumped Keilana or something equally as untrue? Reaching out he he did his best to try to catch hold of his shoulder, "You shouldn't leave, Chandra, you just arrived... and it seems as though you want to get off your chest?"

Chandra felt his fathers strong hand on his shoulder and he shrugged it off or at least tried to. He wasn't muscular like his dad, as he focused on using his magic his muscles were not very well developed though he did try and stay in shape. If anything to keep up with Aysun and his craziness.

"I don't want to keep you from your stray. Though I always assumed you were only interested if they had stuff between their legs." Chandra managed with a sneer, he didn't want to look at his father. He could sense by his fathers tone he had struck a nerve and he was just getting more and more angry the longer he was sticking around. The invitation to get things off his chest was appealing, but he had been hoping to approach his dad in a calmer manner.

It felt too good to be angry, to vent and allow his anger to boil and seath.

Giving a soft sigh Chalcedony starred down at his son as the boy raged at him, seeming to take a couple more verbals strikes at him. It seemed that the boy was calling into question both Rajani and Chalcedony's general... interests. He drew in a deep breath, held it, and then let it out slowly as though he were trying to decide what it was that he wanted to say to Chandra. He found himself doubted very highly that there was much that he could say that would suffice, was there? His son seemed... quite displeased with him, didn't he? Displeased with Chalcedony, with his relationship or lack there of with Keilana, as well it would seem his old interest in Takoda. Did he know about that? It seemed that he must...

Instead of any sorts of protest he held his tongue, allowing his son to speak his piece, before he gave his shoulder a squeeze, "Feeling any better, Chandra? Or is there something else that you want to add? Something else that will help you feel better? To shed the anger you're feelings?"

Chandra fully turned to face his father, a crackle of energy seemed to run across his skin as if he was seeking violence against him. Instead it only seemed to make his hair stand on end with static charge.

"Feeling better?!" The words were shouted at him, "Do you know anything about the two sons you fathered? I know my uncles better than I know [you." The words tumbled out his anger and frustration just rushing ahead of anything rational thought. With the flood gate open it was hard for him to stem the tide.

"While your wandering around doing your 'bounties' and gathering your 'strays' do you know how lonely mother is? Why wasn't she good enough to keep you around? Was it because she wasn't a man? She wasn't uncle Takoda?"

Although Chandra didn't know the entire story he knew the gist. A blind man would be able to see how uncomfortable Takoda and Chalcedony were around each other and how over protective Jacinthus was with his mate and family. He didn't know the complicated love triangle, the drunken sex his mother had with Chalcedony and in his point of view it didn't matter.

His father wasn't with his mother and it made him angry. Everyone beat around the bush and it frustrated him.

Chalcedony gave a soft sigh, "Of course I know about the two of you... though I suppose less about you then I know about Aysun since I don't seem to gave as many opportunities to talk with you of late." So he knew more of his uncles then he did about Chalcedony? A failure on his part it would seem, but at the same time it would make sense since Chandra was spending his time over there learning magic from one of them. It made sense that he would learn a lot about them during that time they were together. Not something that exactly settled well with him since Chandra was his son.

Drawing in a breath Chalcedony held it for a moment, steadying himself, let it out slowly, before he said, "Keilana is a good woman, a good friend to me, and she gave me a wonderful gift in the for of you and your brother... but it's as you say. At least at the time that is..." He lifted a hand to rub his temples, trying to figure out the right words without explaining anything in detail, certain that his son wouldn't be interested in the details of what caused him and his twin to come to conception.

What was Chandra expecting? Chalcedony to protest? To agree? Somehow it was more frustrating than him being silent. Somehow having his mother described as a good friend made him even angrier.

"Mom is strong, even when she is at her most vulnerable she tries not to let us worry. But I know she is lonely, and...I know we are to blame just as much as you. " Chandra managed to bring his shouting voice down lower. As if trying to bring in all that pent up anger. "But children need to grow up and leave the nest...but she shouldn't be alone." Perhaps part of his anger was the guilt he felt leaving his mother behind, but he did have his own life to live, just like Aysun.

"Dad..why couldn't you love mom? Why..." He trailed off, his hand was a fist his nails digging into his skin. He wanted to ask why Chalcedony loved Takoda. Why not Keilana?
PostPosted: Mon May 09, 2016 10:06 pm

"It pains me to hear that she is lonely, as it's a feeling I know all too well." There were times, those times when the twins were away, when the house felt too empty and too quiet, likely one of the main reasons why he offered one of the spare rooms to Rajani in the first place. So that there was someone around, even though he'd been leaving more and more himself to take on bounties to fill his time.

Giving a smile and a nod Chalcedony said, "Yes, another thing I know too well, that you two are growing up and going out into the worlds to find your own paths. Even so I leave your rooms waiting for you in case you happen by." He missed when they were younger and things were a lot more simple, especially in the current moment.

"It's... complicated... well... I suppose not exactly complicated as just... not in the cards. We work well together, raised the two of you together, but the rest... that sort of love..." He shook his head. It wasn't the sort of love that he'd felt for her, which was also hard to explain and put into words. Keilana meant a lot to him, but not in a romantic sense. It didn't help that for a long time he'd been hung up on someone else, something he kept to himself as things already felt complicated enough as it was.

Chandra was silent as he listened to his father speak. It felt like excuses. He had a hard time believing his father was lonely given how large his family was but ..he didn't exactly go visit his dad either. In fact the older he got the more he tended to avoid spending time with him. A lot of that resulted from his pent up anger when it came to his dad. He avoided him so that this conversation could be spared...

"It feels like your making excuses..." Chandra said bluntly, "Did you even try to make it work?" He challenged, knowing that all his life that his mother and father lived separately. Maybe they had tried when they were really young, before his memories could actually be remembered.

"Was it too awkward because of Uncle Takoda?" Chandra continued as he slowly connected the dots of missing information. Though he had a hunch about the history between the four he always sensed that Takoda and Chalcedony felt sad around each other. "Tell me what exactly happened that things turned out like this.."
