Mid-afternoon on a weekday. Before happy hour, when most business was the two old codgers at the bar and people coming in for takeout. Borr wasn't actually serving bar at this very second, he was very frustratingly fiddling with the controls for the several TV's around the place which all seemed to be stuck on the GUIDE screen while telemundo played muted through the speakers. It didn't help he was terrible with this sort of thing. At least the days of programming VCR's was long past.

It was not supposed to be a thing. They had talked about it. He didn't mind, he told her, that she never bothered to change her status to In a Relationship. It was not a thing. It was absolutely a thing. Sometimes it got a little weighty the attention Wendy got online and sometimes he absolutely wanted to say something to them about it. He didn't. Instead he would go dark online and be a non-presence. Wendy knew where to find him, how to find him, and by the time she did he would have pushed everything back away into it's box. The perfect relationship without a relationship. Cid had already been home, store closed early (the world was not ending, he was just in a mood), and he was dressed down as he hit Darlene's. Well worn jeans, an old favorite pair of comfortable shoes, and button-up shirt. The first thing that was probably worth noting was that he was quiet as he came up to Borr and just held his hand out. "Let me see it, Borr?"

Judging by the lack of ears, tail or some sort of lacy tophat and petticoat, Cid was either out with his friends of he was sad. Again. The lack of friends meant it was sad. Borr crossed his arms over his chest and stared at the younger man, "Cid, I've told you before: alcoholic juiceboxes aren't a thing." Not sold here anyway. If the packaging weren't deceptive to children maybe he'd have thought about designing them...

Cid just gave him a look. He wasn't even wearing his glasses. "The remote. Give it to me. I'll fix it." His fingers wiggled as his hand was still held out.

"Oh.." Borr sagged and sheepishly handed over the remote. It was all programmable and he hadn't even done it himself and if anything happened that wasn't normal channel changing the older man ended up looking like he was stabbing at the remote wildly with his sausage finger. He waited until the other man did his techno magic before finally asking, "What'er you having? First one on the house." Because he fixes TV's and looks soooooo sad.

Cid, first, flipped the remote around the other way and then was immediately poking through the settings before he had most of the televisions flipped to the local news. At least for now, it was still set to something quiet. A couple were set to a sports game just in case. "You heathens want something else, ask nicely," he told the two old men but they seemed appeased for now. Something about one of the news anchors was easy on the eyes. Cid did not care which one they meant - he didn't want to know. "Eh, surprise me." Not even picking out his drinks, the world truly was coming to an end. The remote was offered back and Cid was heading to his favorite barstool to plop himself on. Which he did where he promptly just collapsed and laid his head on the counter.

Cid was given a hard cider, because in this mood he may end up downing too many. At least these were a bit easier on him when it came to packing them away. "Is it Wendy again?" Borr frowned because with Cid, Wendy or Tom it could have been anything. "Or some-" waved his hands, "comic book thing."

Cid's head was down on the counter, forehead pressed to it and his hand reaching out to poke at the hard cider a bit. He raised his head, chin propped up and stared hard at the glass. It was totally the glass that was at fault for all the things. No, it wasn't, but he could pretend. He snorted. "S'not a comic book thing," he took a swing, "s'Wendy thing."

Borr had a mighty frown. Wendy was always trouble for Cid. Before the got together fully she had seemed to jerk him around and now that they were together, it didn't seem improved any. Maybe she was bad for Cid... But Borr acknowledged the pair were eachother's very precise version of weird and when they were good they both seemed genuinely happy. Girl needed to get over herself. "What did she do now?"

Cid was ignoring the frown. In fact, his attention was focused so very hard on his hard cider. No. Looking. At. Borr's. Face. Mostly because the man knew and had known him since he was little and - - not thinking about little Wendy either. Why did she have to be so cute then too? Why did he have it so bad? "Nothing new," he sighed. "Just the usual fanboy crowd online." His forehead hit the bar again with a thud.

Borr frowned more, "Well she's got her public.. thing.." Wendy being a small time local celebrity, and with some stupid number of people watching her insta-whatevers (he'd heard them talked about- Borr was hip - With it-), "You know those online people are idiots." A big hand clapped on Cid's shoulder, "Your head may be bricks, but my bar isn't. Be nice. She's a good bar." He then got a hair ruffle. "C'mon. Buck up. You know she's your girl," Borr smiled.

Cid just growled, honest to goodness growled. Which was more of a rumble from him than anything else but still! "Yes but she's also everyone else's girl at the same time." Now he was definitely sounding petulant but also morose. Wendy have her personality and her persona and sometimes it bothered him just how far it reached because he did not want to ruin anything. Their relationship or her career. After all, he was just a comic book nerd and she was ... "I mean ... have you read some of what they say? The s**t they post? It's - it's ... it isn't cool," he settled on. Apparently when really upset he did not even swear.

Borr felt for him. He didn't know exactly what was said but he knew Wendy was a pretty girl and was sure the comments got questionable. Besides he'd had his share of jealousy issues with Darlene and she was hardly famous.. just popular. "You tried to talk to her about this?" His bushy eyebrows rose. He knew she couldn't control what others said online but it seemed like it was Wendy's job to reassure her man.

The hard cider was empty and he nudged the bottle towards Borr wordlessly. Cid harrumphed. "... which time?" A hand was raked through his hair, fingers pulling at it until it was curling in his face and then he had to shove it back. "Don't you remember that spat we had a couple months back?" It had been pretty explosive. They had not talked for two whole days.

"Mmmm.." Borr made a rumbling thoughtful noise, "She's still on a ban for that." He wouldn't discuss it in pleasant company but she was lucky that one didn't end up online. Cid and Wendy were great when they were good and baaaaaaaaaaaaaad when they were bad. "You love this girl? You tell her every day?" Borr's brows lifted. "Maybe it's time for ultimatums... cause at some point you gotta decide if it's not just her running the show." The empty bottle was taken away and another fresh one in it's place, "You guys gotta be on the same page." Wendy probably would react horribly to ultimatums, she had too much backbone and too much pride. But if Cid was determined to take her crap forever... than that's exactly what he'd end up doing. Forever.
