Every once in a while, he liked to come here. Branches rustled overhead as a cool breeze wove through the trees, scattering pale pink leaves throughout the forest. It was a beautiful sight to watch, very different to the sandy rocky scenery of Chittentown. Cerpin walked through the trees as the moons' light trickled in from above. This was lush green luxury. Summers by the lake and vacation homes for royal lapdogs to hide away in for weeks at a time.

This was where he was supposed to live.

"Like that life ever suited me." His hands brushed against bushes and ferns as he walked, enjoying the feel of them against his fingers. Someday he would be doing this on another planet, discovering new flora and fauna for work instead of play. It was not in his nature to dabble in the scientific fields but the playboy would do his share of the work for his future team. For now, though, he was content to wander the woods free of his disguise. It felt wonderful to be himself for a little while instead of that yellowblooded costume. It wasn't that Cerpin felt it beneath himself to act as a lowblood, just that it wasn't him. He was purple. It didn't make him better than anyone, it just was, well, him.

Something shifted in the trees nearby and the rebel tensed at the sound. Was it a royalist drone following him out here? Or a local on their way home? Hell, it could even be the Queen herself, he had no idea. His eyes squinted upwards to see something he was not expecting perched in the tree, her eyes focused above to the sky.

"You make a lovely picture there like that." He let out amused but pleasant laughter as he looked up at her from below. It felt like something out of an old movie but with branches instead of balconies. "What're you doing up in that tree like that?" It was strange to him to see a seadweller lurking in the woods rather than at one of the highblood parties or sticking close to the shores. He had assumed that most of them preferred to stay close to the ocean in order to lord their superiority over the rest of the hemospectrum but then again, Natash had come all the way out to the Harvest Festival.

Maybe she was different. He'd wait and see.

It was one of those nights Polair enjoyed the most. The moons’ faint glow slightly lightened the forests while the stars glistened majestically against the trees, the occasional bioluminescent creatures and her bracelets. The forest wasn't particularly silent but alive and Polair enjoyed hearing the forest “speak”. Sometimes she wasn't sure what she enjoyed the most-- was it her surroundings or what seemed plastered in the sky? The seadweller closed her eyes as a weak wind blowed on her face, making her breathe in Four Fronds scent-- she had been perched on one of her favorite tree specimens, and her best (and “safest”) star gazing spot. Feeling the breeze tussled her hair once more, Polair slowly opened her eyes, just to see the glow her jewel made. It reminded her of her lusus, who was nowhere near her. He was particularly more interested in hunting, not stargazing and she understood that. She had to. The child sighed before she resumed gazing at the stars’ positions before jotting them down on her skin. She would later, of course, write them down somewhere more permanent but now she just wanted to admire the stars from afar. It all just made her think of the wonders she could discover beyond the Alternian skies. The planets, their compositions… Though even if she wished to, she couldn't do that all on her own. She needed a team willing to--

”You make a lovely picture there like that."

Suddenly Polair looked down noticing there had been someone staring at her admiring the view up from a tree. The child wasn't sure what was the appropriate reaction, but she was sure startled by his laugh. She even temporarily forgot she was up in a tree and why was she there. When she had formulated a coherent answer in her head and was about to answer his question, Polair lost her balance and feel on her behind.

She slightly shook her head and checked her necklace. For a second she thought her jewel cracked, thankfully it didn't. Note to self, Troll Newton’s gravitational laws exist for a reason. She thought as cleared her throat before looking at the purpleblood with her usual neutral expression. “Well, I was admiring the stars… just looking at their path, see?” Polair extended her arm and showed him her wrist before standing up. It had small purple dots, coordinates and codes. “Was going to compare them with old notes. However I ruined my stargazing spot by breaking this here branch… Yet shouldn't I be the one asking the questions here? Like who are you? Why were you silently staring at me?” The child looked away rather mad. The fall did hurt. “Or what are you doing out here? Surely you have more “important” highblood issues to attend to than wandering through the forest.” This was possible, he did seem like the type of troll who enjoyed the luxurious life a purple blood could live. Polair couldn't understand that life at all. So materialistic, so shallow… Hopefully she didn't have to deal with that type of troll tonight.

I bet every troll falls for him. Literally LMAO. Can't wait to see what Cerpin does! XD

"Oi, you're goi-" His warning came too late. The enigmatic girl opened her lips to speak before suddenly plummeting to the ground below. His eyes widened in alarm and concern but before he could help her up, the seadweller pulled herself to her feet. She shifted her arm out for him to see, explaining the constellations scrawled across her skin. His own seemed to buzz with electricity. She was mapping out stars. Was she- would she? He took her barbs with a crooked smile and gave a relaxed shrug.

"I'm Cerpin Sugall. I didn't mean to stare at you but... anyways, you alright? Looked like a nasty fall." The other troll definitely had her guard up which meant he ought to be careful but she almost seemed like she was judging him for being a typical highblood. He wasn't sure if that meant she was sympathetic to the rebellion or accusing him of deviating from the hemospectrum. But at least they had one thing in common: the stars.

"I was out here admiring the stars too. I'm no scholar of them like you though. It looks nice, great job." He reached to trace the lines between the stars on her wrist without thinking to ask permission. He thought he might know this one but th name escaped him. Internally he was twisting and turning, wanting so badly to know just how much she knew about the galaxy. Could she navigate through it? But he had to play it cool. It would be strange and suspicious to randomly ask that right off the bat. Instead, the prince opted to hoist himself up on one of the lower branches of a tree and motion to join him in climbing back up. If she wanted to stargaze, who was he to interrupt? They'd do it together.

"Someday I'm going to go there. I'll be a captain. With my own ship." His eyes glanced up at the sky with a proud glint in them. There was no doubt in his mind, he was confident they could pull it off! Once Tevini stopped fighting with him anyways.

The seadweller shivered as Cerpin traced the lines on her skin. It was a good thing the body dye was smudge-proof, otherwise she would've lost a night's research. She was surprised the other purpleblood was stargazing as well and even more he took her venom rather lightly. "Thank you, I do my best to get their distance as accurate as possible and memorize in which hemisphere they lie from time to time. Though I'm no scholar... I wish I was. My lusus is the one who can truly understand it somehow." Polair got a bit closer to the other as he motioned her to climb up with him. Was he going to stick along and watch the stars with her? He rather answered that question before she could ask him. A captain, eh? That's not a bad life goal. Polair thought as she crossed her arms casually.

"That's an interesting dream. I do too wish to go up there, find something new, something wonderful! Mapping out the sky would just be the beginning for me. Later I would move on to find hidden galaxies within the celestial bodies, knowing what they're made of! Still need to work on a few things before going up there myself with my future crew." She glanced up at the tree they were about to climb, it appeared to be higher than the one she was previously on. "Are you sure you want to climb up there? Not afraid of heights? Or falling? Not that my previous fall was too painful."

Maybe she was still a bit mad at him for that, or was trying her hand at humor? Who knew. "Not that I'm not fine... I am. I just forgot for a second where I was and dismissed Troll Isaac Newton's universal law of gravitation. It was stupid of me to forget it states the relationship two bodies experience, you know? Any two bodies in the universe attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This that explains why Alternia's gravitational force tried to pull me right into it as my body accelerated towards the ground-- thus exerting the same force the planet exerts on me to prevent me from flying off the atmosphere." Simple physics, though Polair was ashamed she had forgotten that for a moment.

"But I doubt that we could suffer through the same pain. Probably something more painful but not deadly, depending on where we'd land and at what velocity we fell." She took hold of the trunk, seeing how sturdy it was and began to climb slowly. Then stopped and looked at him with a small smile. The glow on her necklace lighted up her face a bit. This was going to be exciting and something Claud wouldn't approve. But this was part of her future, she couldn't waste time wondering what's up there with Cerpin nor waste it by defining all the odds. "Do hope your royal highness isn't afraid of doing this. After all, this is your idea is it not? Though, may I ask? Won't your lusus be mad at you if they find you up there? I know mine would be."

"I hope the sight you're about to show me will be worth the fall. Otherwise you'll be obliged to show me somewhere else to stargaze until a new branch grows on that other tree." She began to climb the tree, picking up the pace little by little. "Trust me, I'm very picky when it comes to this! So this view must leave me awestruck!"

Yamashii
(Wow she sure talks. Do what you must to shut her UP) Now I'm going on another carpet ride! o uo

"You want to find something wonderful, is that so?" The sly look on his face as his eyes met hers seemed to suggest he'd already found such a thing tonight. The way she chattered on, it was hard to get a word in otherwise! But it had a charming quality to it, as if she couldn't help but share every single thought that entered her mind in case it flew away from her. His hands reached and pulled himself up branch by branch, him occasionally glancing to check that she was still following him. The mysterious seadweller kept up with him just fine which impressed the boy.

She sure talked a lot. But he didn't mind, Cerpin was much the same way. Only, not nearly as versed in each specific gravitational law nor the relationship between velocity and pain. He was educated and intelligent but more so in politics and history than science. She was interesting to listen to for a short while but thankfully, they finally reached the top of the tree and it was a chance for him to cut in.

"Hey- you're-" It was no use, she seemed to never run out of words! His arm reached around her shoulders but instead of simply holding her seated next to him, Cerpin's hand tugged at her cheek. "Shut up a moment, your 'view's almost here!" There was one more reason he'd come all the way out here tonight instead of staying tucked in his hive plunking out songs on his guitar or training in the swamp with his master. The boy had come across it by chance, tucked in an old worn calendar that Tevini had fished out of her junkyard.

It started subtly. A stray dot in the sky. Letting go of her face, he nudged her and pointed to the sky with the hand wrapped around her. Twinkling lights came into view, streaking across the sky in a dazzling show of contrast against the darkness. Soon enough, there were dozens of them. His eyes widened and his face broke out into a grin. Two trolls destined for greatness, destined for a life touring the planets, right here together for this special moment.

"What a show! Feeling awestruck at all?" He looked to her, anxious to see if she was enjoying it. She looked like she belonged here in the wilderness, a breeze blowing through her messy hair, watching the lights of the sky dance about her. Polair was certainly full of science on the inside but there was definitely something magical about her.

"Follow me. Join my crew- I need you! Just imagine how far we could go-" The words blurted out of him before he could fully process the idea. Tevini wouldn't like it. The rebels certainly wouldn't like it. But she was so smart and obviously passionate about this! The way she teased him about his caste, the way she seemed to represent the opposite of her own- surely this was Troll Isaac Newton's universal law of gravitation bringing the two of them together!

Cerpin is pushy pushy pushy but he can't help it! Polair is too charming to resist. XD

Polair didn't noticed he had casually put his arm around her nor minded the fact that he touched her cheek, managing to shut her up for a few seconds. The child looked at him for a second then directed her attention to the sky. Then it happened, the most dazzling twinkling stars were visible to them-- only them. How could he possibly know about this phenomena? How did he know the perfect spot to see such dazzling show? For the first time in her life she was silent at the company of another star gazer. Normally she would speak and speak and talk and talk, theory after theory, nonstop. But now, she just admired. No mental notes, no words racing her mind... Just complete and utter silence mixed with admiration. The world did wonders to bring people together and she was thankful for the fact she had met someone who was willing to show her such celestial beauty. Billions and billions of stars. Billions and billions of worlds. She stared at all of them, all of those seemingly endless possibilities, not fictional, but real, out there, existing, right now. Polair heard Cerpin's question loud and clear but she couldn't answer, she didn't have the words for an answer.

Instead she smiled at the sky... smiled at him. She showed him her most passionate smile without realizing it. She thanked him silently, repeatedly as she looked back at the sky, noticing a few new constellations. The seadweller somehow blinked back to reality and looked at the other once he spoke to her again and realized she should answer him and write down what she had seen somewhere before it escaped her memory.

"I-I apologize for my sudden daze." Polair bowed down her head before looking back at Cerpin and brushing her hair away from her face. Her eyes widened as she didn't realized how close he was. Polair tilted her head a bit and looked at him confused. Why was he holding her? That didn't make much sense to her. Wasn't he going to let go? Polair was even more confused, when suddenly he asked her to join his crew. They had just met after all, how could he trust her? Not that he seemed untrustworthy, but still.

"Join you?" She looked back at the sky, her smile returning to her lips once more as her worries disappeared. Maybe she could say yes, so she could explore the wonders outside Alternia, explore, observe the unknown... Even if Claud was against it. There is so much more out there than just the world she knew and hypothesized about, so much more that she'll never see. So much more that she'll never get to. So much that she could now only glimpse enough of to know that it's forever beyond her reach.

If she declined his proposition, then she'll never have the opportunity to reach what she's longed for...

"It would be my honor to join you in your future expeditions. Though are you completely sure about that? I don't want you to regret your decision afterwards." She said as she looked to the sky and a breeze went through her wild hair. “Some trolls don't understand the propositions they're making when they make them. What if you realize that you, in fact, don't need me at all?"

And just like that, her mouth was up and running again. He tried to hide his amused smile behind a hand as he listened to her concerns. Cerpin couldn't help but find the girl entertaining. The tone of the conversation turned serious and he cocked his head to the side as he mulled over the weight in her words.

"I'll take my chances." He arched an eyebrow but under it was the same warm expression, "Or are you saying you're going to cause trouble?" It wasn't like he really knew anything about her. Not even her name. But he wasn't afraid to gamble. Life hadn't gotten him anywhere by playing it safe. He let go over her shoulders to face her properly. Long strands of black whipped around her in the breeze and oh how he wanted this to work out.

"I mean if you are, that's fine. I'm pretty good at getting in and out of trouble." The purpleblood stuck out his tongue through grinning teeth. The stars overhead continued to streak across the sky and he loved the electric feel it gave the night. There was an energy in the air and it plugged straight into his veins. Where was his guitar when he needed it? Or was that surge of power coming from the girl? His eyes glittered in the darkness as they met with hers.

"The only regret I've had in my life is living it by the rules of others. Don't you agree?" Rebellion had come with a lot of costs but he could honestly say that he felt more important, more meaningful than ever once he'd taken a stance with Byakko. His partner waited back home for him and the feeling was addicting- knowing that he was playing a part in something big with others that needed him... He'd have to screen this seadweller to see if she'd fit into that he guessed.

"So long as you don't lose your ambition, I don't think I'll stop needing you. Bright minds and bright eyes, that's what I'm after. Oh- you'll have to meet Tevini, my partner so far." The smile on his face looked a bit uncertain following this line. He was crossing in to territory that worried him now and he hoped she wouldn't notice.

"She's my engineer. Gifted at what she does and smarter than me. You have any problems working with lowbloods? As equals." It was a risky question but one he had to ask. There was no way around it. She probably knew by now that he wasn't the typical purpleblood anyways.

Cause trouble? Her? Polair blinked several times, still not processing what he had implied.

"I'm not a fan of trouble and I can assure you that I won't cause it." She simply said. Her life was all thinking clearly and avoid rash decisions-- all about trial and error, a series of rules and obligations that one should follow and others that one should mold into what they believed. Tough to believe, Polair cherished some rules and she sees them necessary to keep the world sane, on the other hand, she believed that one must learn the rules, to break them if they weren't up to their status quo, and to make up new rules as one lives, just break them as well. That's what she's being doing, following the rules but shaping others to her liking. If not, she'd be like the rest-- unhealthily ambitious with material things, not to mention governed by her emotional impulses.

"I think one must live by some rules otherwise your life would go unexpectedly haywire. However, despite all the rulings, orders and commands, I consider myself a free being." This was the truth, no matter how she looked at it, Polair could never admit she followed all existing rules, simply impossible for even the most obeying subject. "I'm free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate and follow them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."

"I don't care about other's rules as long as I don't consider them tolerable nor universal."

"Losing my passion, that'd be unlikely. Are all the trolls you seek for have both of those things? Bright minds and bright eyes?" Polair asked, unaware Cerpin might have complimented her. Oh, so he had another troll in his crew. If she was smart as he said then she wouldn't have much problem associating herself with her. Then his last comment was a bit... insulting. As if she ever gave a damn about blood colors. That didn't demonstrate how competent a troll was.

"Why would I have a problem? I don't consider blood hue an issue and believe no one should. If I did consider that, then I wouldn't have followed you up here now would I?" If they were to analyze the situation, he was, in fact, the lowblood here.

"Any other question Cerpin?"

Yamashii
oh look! A WILD TAG APPEARS

She looked almost annoyed at his assumption and a wave of relief washed over him. It seemed she didn't care at all about the hemospectrum and though he wasn't sure why, Cerpin was more than happy to accept it.

"That's great! Just looking out for my crew, y'know." The boy had a pleased grin on his face. "Not everyone's as open-minded as us. It's my job to protect her from that kind." Being a highblood meant he had to keep those lower than him safe. While he didn't hold himself to the caste system anymore, that didn't mean the rest of Alternia would respect the fact.

"That extends to you too." Polair was not beneath him, sort of a rarity for Cerpin to encounter, but that did not mean she wouldn't benefit from someone protecting her blind spots. "I'll watch your back for you. We'll be unstoppable!" The stars continued to twinkle around them and he felt more awake and alive than he had in a while with them surrounding him. After such a long time toiling underground to keep Tevini and him afloat through their work, it was refreshing to be high in the trees with somebody completely new and different.

A loud birdcall sounded up from below and Cerpin rolled his eyes. Blossmom always interrupted at the worst times.

"There's still a lot to do but... we're gonna get there." He nodded up to them, glowing planets and stars so far out of reach for now. "Until then, this is for you." Cerpin plucked a business card from his bag, tucking it into Polair's fingers. A street address was printed along with a PO box for any mail. It would lead her to the dusty storage space below Chittentown where he and Tevini were staying for now. There wasn't much yet but he had big plans for it.

"I've got to get back to work but we'll be in touch. If you need anything, come." His eyes met hers as he spoke with a comfortable casualness. He lacked any sort of formal feeling to him and was glad she didn't seem to care about those things either. White wings came into view as his lusus flew to the top of the tree to collect him. Climbing onto Blossmom's back, he leaned into whisper one last time before he left.

"It looks pretty on you." His hand poked at the design on her cheek. If he were a little older, he might've... but it was too late to dwell on it, Blossmom was taking flight back home and the playful prince settled for waving at her as he disappeared through the pink trees.

ImaginationsParadise
And fin! Sorry that took so long. @ A@ We'll have to set up another one where Cerpin introduces Polair to Tevini! I'll bother you about when you have time for it when we're both on skype!
