Asiya stood in front of the playground where the shadow had taken her and waited. What she was waiting for, she had no idea, honestly. Waiting for it to show itself or make a move, more than likely. Whatever the case, she was eager to figure out just what the hell it was. Strange creatures in Other Ashdown weren't uncommon in the slightest. It's where they lived, after all. It was when those creatures came over into the regular Ashdown that things got interesting. What did the shadow want? What was its purpose? There were so many questions. Though, whenever Other Ashdown was concerned, she always had so many questions.

That was probably never going to change.

Not wanting to stand in silence any longer, the artist decided to press her luck. She was going to try talking to it. "So what are you, exactly," she asked the shadow, unaware if it could even understand her at all. There was a chance it didn't even speak a language even remotely close to what she did. Asiya was just taking a swing in the dark as far as communication went. "And I'm curious to know what you want." This was followed by a brief pause, but then she added a quiet, "It's not often things from Other Ashdown come to regular Ashdown. Usually it's the other way around."

The shadow that Asiya was watching moved briefly, then again, then stilled, and then a car that drove by and illuminated that it was merely a trash bag caught on the merry-go-round. A gust of hard wind blew and dislodged it, the plastic fluttering in the wind and then carried off.

Somewhere there was a not happy person about litter.

Somewhere, from on top of the castle that children climbed in daily, there were a pair of glittering eyes and darkness that swallowed up the light. "... d'you make a habit out of talking to the scenery?" The voice was soft, quiet, and maybe just a little curious.

The trash bag flying off in the wind caused her to jump. She hadn't expected to see it, and thought it was the shadow. Now that her adrenaline was going, Asiya also seemed extra fidgety and on edge. That was when the voice spoke to her, and the eyes popped out of the darkness.

"Generally, no. But if it's something I know where other Ashdown is concerned, then yes."

She wasn't afraid - not really. Just caught off guard. It was probably a bit foolish, though. She should probably be afraid, if only a little. But having learned from Unspoken not to just outright attack things with magic, she was more curious than anything else, just as the creature was. Maybe this thing, whatever it was, was friendly, too. One could never really know with Other Ashdown.

"Hey. Hey. That's, uh. Profiling. Y'don't know that I'm from that place." Something in the shadows swished and flicked, bits of them seemingly flickering up and disappearing into the air as the wind blew again.

It disappeared as clouds covered the moon from the top of the play castle, no longer visible.

Asiya couldn't help but laughed at the creature's comment, amused by what it said. When it disappeared, however, her laughter stopped. She then blinked, craning her head to try and figure out where it possibly went. This was a tricky little guy, whatever it was. But he also did have a point. It was profiling, to a point? But where else would the creature be from, if not Other Ashdown.

Shadows didn't just move on their own here in the regular world.

"I apologize. I shouldn't just assume. I should have asked. What's your name, anyway," Asiya asked, quirking a brow up in her curiosity. "I'm Asiya. It's nice to meet you."

"Y'apologize a lot for things y'probably shouldn't 'pologize for." At the bottom of the castle the shadows reappeared and instead of just darkness, it seemed to coalesced together into something small. The shape of it was not solid, shifting and moving shadows, and a long tail flicked and swished as it stood up on it's hind legs. It might have been a weasel, if not for the tail.

"Not smart, y'know, to give your name so easily." A pair of eerily glowing eyes stared at Asiya intently. "... why y'been trying to follow me?" Then it was down on it's feet, skittered closer and stared even more. "Ya a PC or a NPC?"

She apologized too much? The artist opened her mouth to argue against this statement, but then closed it when she thought better of it. It had a point, she reckoned. When it reappeared, Asiya just shrugged her shoulders simply. She was just so used to apologizing that she did it almost by habit at this point. When it took the shape of a weasel, she couldn't help but think that it looked cute. How it got into Ashdown, however, was anyone's guess. When it told her that she shouldn't give her name up so easily, she shrugged her shoulders again. The last time she met something from Other Ashdown, she hit it with magic before talking to it. It just made sense to her to give it her name after that.

"I was curious as to what you were," came Asiya's honest response. Shadows didn't just move of their own accord; this wasn't Neverland. The young woman stared back when the little weasel stared at her, and then she chuckled. A player character or a non-player character, huh? That was a video game reference, and one that Erin would probably be amused by.

"A player character, obviously," she went on to say. "Are you the boss of the dungeon?" A grin escaped her after she said this and was followed by a laugh. Hopefully, the little guy would appreciate the joke. If not, then she would be sorely disappointed.

"I'm me, you're you. S'simple." The shadow creature was still staring her, parts of him disappearing off of it like wisps of smoke into the air. It hobbled forward on it's back feet, head tilting to the side and really studied her.

"Y'sure you're not a NPC though?" A hard stare was leveled at Asiya before it went on. "I guess you're a PC. I guess." It fell to it's paws, darkness billowing out around it a moment and then it seemed like it was reshaped slightly smaller than before. It chittered as if it was laughing. "M'not a dungeon boss. You're still alive."

Well, that was nice to know.

That it wasn't the dungeon boss, that was.

Asiya had no interest in dying.

"Well, I'm glad to meet you, regardless," she told the little guy with a smile. She was also glad he wasn't going to kill her in some way, as a dungeon boss might actually do. Real life being like a video game did not seem pleasing in the slightest. Erin might argue with her on that, but then again, her friend loved her video games.

"What brings you to Ashdown?"

It was a simple enough question, but Asiya was curious, regardless. It wasn't often that creatures from Other Ashdown came to the real world, so how could she not ask. She was also curious if the little weasel knew how to get back, too, but it probably did. It did get there in the first place on its own, after all.

"You're weird." It told her with all the certainty a child might tell an adult that apples were bad for you.

The small creature shifted back and forth on it's paws before it started to circle around Asiya. It chittered every so often and then was back up on it's feet and staring hard. "That is none of your business."

It hobbled around again on it's hind feet, tail swishing behind it and shadows spreading around Asiya as it did so.

She was encircled by it. Parts of the creature disappeared into the shadows, only the swish of it's tail giving any clue about it's lower body.

"You're kind of nosey, y'know?"

"Weirdness is relative," Asiya countered as the weasel circled her. "To me, you are weird, so I guess that makes us even."

She didn't mind being called nosey. As far as she was concerned, it was better to ask questions to try in learn things, rather than to stay silent and never inquire about anything. You only learned by asking questions. All she could do was shrug after she was called out.

"And others would be nosey, too, if I was suddenly in your realm without warning. It works both ways." A shadow weasel called her weird. Wasn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?

"No, we are not even," it countered, "we are far from it."

Then whatever show the creature was making ended. The shadows solidified and it was simply a pine marten that sat on the ground. His fur was dark, almost black, and his eyes were oddly white - as if he was blind - but they watched her closely.

"Don't care about why you're there either," it was hard to tell where his voice was coming from as his mouth did not move quite right, "but I know about you anyway. I know y'want to learn things. That y'try too much and push too hard and y'attack without thinking."

Why did the pine martin suddenly feel so argumentative?

Asiya quirked a brow when he took the full shape of the animal. Pine martins were cute, but she wasn't going to tell him that. He didn't seem like the type to care, really. Maybe he did, and maybe he didn't, but she was keeping her mouth shut.

When it brought up the incident with Unspoken, a frown tugged her lips downward. Yes, she did those things that it said back then, but she did not want to repeat those mistakes. Unspoken had helped her to figure out that much. "I do want to learn things, yes" she admitted, unashamed of this fact. Who didn't want to learn things? If you didn't learn, then you didn't grow, as far as she was concerned. Life was all about learning. "As far as the latter two things go, I'm going to be more conscientious from now on. I should have been then, too, but I wasn't, and that was my mistake."

No one liked to admit when they were wrong, but Asiya didn't hesitate when she spoke of what happened. She had made mistakes, and they were hers to own up to. A lot of people wouldn't do that -- they'd ignore what they did wrong or pass the blame on to others. That wasn't right, and she knew it. She just hoped the pine martin appreciated her honesty on the subject.

"How much d'you want to learn things, Asiya?" It's voice was not so soft and sweet anymore, instead it was up on it's feet and watching her.

Asiya laughed at this question, even though it wasn't really a funny thing to ask.

She wasn't laughing at the question, but more so remembering the last time she made an offer. On her first trip to Other Ashdown, she told Sunny that she would do anything, if she answered any questions that she had. This, of course, was an unfair deal, and led to the two of them haggling later on. Asiya had given the beach witch her most favorite painting that she ever did, in return for answers about the strange symbol around Other Ashdown.

After having thought about it, the artist simply shrugged. "As much as I can, honestly. How much is there?" As she asked this, hazel eyes fell upon the pine martin, and she looked directly at it. It wasn't a challenging look, or even a stern look. She was just watching it as much as it was watching her.
