Botolf: Carving his own path Pt:1 A summer dream
Limping in the rain, blood trickling down my leg for sure and I'm quite sure other unseen places as well. This day had not gone as planned, I miscalculated. Though I was lucky that I managed to escape. It's not every day after all that you attempt to take over a pack. Looking back in the direction my pack was I realize now I made so many mistakes. The first day, the day I decided I could do it. I should have listened to ongra. He was my friend, the only one I trusted with my secret plan. THE ONLY ONE I TOLD. How could he.
It was a day quite unlike the one today, the sun was bright and strong. Now clouds were crowding the sky. Spring had just come and flower buds were finally emerging. Breathing in the clean air I eagerly head toward the neighboring stream. Ongra is usually there by himself this time of the day and I cant wait to see him! Pickling up speed in anticipation I see him now, just coming into sight. "perfect" I mouth to myself. I was fast, the fastest in fact compared to any of my pack mates. If I was guessing right I could get to him before he even noticed me, the wind was in my favor and he was distracted looking for a fish to eat. I was correct and collided into him so damn hard we rolled into the river. I of coarse laughing like a maniac the whole time, I was ready for the roll, I had planned for it after all. Ongra had not. When I surfaced my friends face was pleasantly disgruntled. Sopping wet he turns to me trying to refrain from smiling as he had done similar pranks to me before, but he wanted the satisfaction of at least making me squirm an apology out. "Satisfied?" he says trying to put as much dripping sass as the very water draining off of him. Looking him over I smugly and un-repentantly respond "Nope." After a moment of staring at each other both determined to hold our expression he gives in and a smile cracks. "You're an a*****e." he says shaking of a good portion of the water then plopping onto the bank to finish drying off. Licking his paws he throws in "Whats has you so worked up so early in the morning?"
Joining him I whisper to him "I am going to challenge the Alpha for the pack!" He freezes and slowly looks up at me, more serious than I have ever seen my den brother before. "Don't, please. You aren't ready for something like that!" He looked genuinely scared.
