Acubens was out again, finding she spent more night out than in now a days. Not by obligation, though she did have a job to do. There was no strain in her outings, no disdain or discomfort. She was just out, in the cool of the night, singing gentlemen to sleep. She rubbed the mirror shard in her hand affectionately and hummed something form her forgotten childhood, in turns shining it's surface and puffing air to buff it clean. It was obvious to anyone who cared to look that Acubens adored her job. She adored every second, breath, step, and instance of it.
As she neared the construction site of her choosing, Acubens called Bruce forward, smiling up into his featureless face. He was still for only a moment before he darted forward to do what he was created to do. Acubens let him move of his own accord, lingering behind to enjoy the warming air of early spring. She stretched her senses languidly, stretching out their fingers not in seeking, but rather in relaxation. She nearly missed the young signal filtered by chaos. Quickly, Acubens called Bruce back to his shard so as not to scare whomever was out there.
*NOTE: Acubens calls the wraiths that she calls for energy gathering Bruce. They are all Bruce. #Brucenation

Romulus had taken to her new life as a member of the Dark Mirror Court as well as the next young, headstrong teen with a wavering sense of duty and obligation. She was grateful, certainly, in what Remarque had done for her, what he'd given her, but gratuity could only really stretch so far. She did as she was bid, heading out with every intention of filling the energy quotas set out for her, but it wasn't that unusual for her to find herself distracted by one thing or another. In this particular instance, a construction sight. These, along with abandoned buildings, were among her favorite haunts. So much to explore, so many opportunities to leave her mark. Vandalism, they called, but she considered it art. Granted, Caspien had always been so much better at it. She paused as she felt it, a strong chaotic aura, and it made her set the spray paint she'd found down, edging quietly out from beneath the protective plastic the covered the more completed bits of the second floor. At first she didn't see the other woman standing at ground level, but a more thorough search(and the call of a voice) turned her in the right direction. "Hello?"

so young... Acubens smiled to herself as she watched the Dark Mirror Senshi move with, it would seem, every intention of marking something with the canister in her hands. She wasn't hidden, at least not intentionally. It ws dark and the site had shadows and nooks that obscured her without her knowledge. So she stepped out into the pale silver moonlight with a warm smile, trying ehr best not to scare the poor girl. "Hey there," she gushed, heart near the overflowing at the sight of her newest court member. She could feel her own smile pulling at the corners of her mouth, threatening to split her whole face in two. "You must be new... Oh gosh, sorry, I'm Acubens. Senshi of Velociraptors." She took an anxious step forward, fiddled with her fingers, and then took another step back. Love all of her court though she might, Acubens was still horrifically awkward and aware of herself in moments like these. "What brings you out on a night like this?" Wow, Acubens, for real? Same thing that brings you out... She tried not to let her uncertainty show on her face. Beejoux come to acubens and let her love you child

Romulus watched the other senshi with the same sort of wary unease that any young delinquent might show, having been discovered doing something they shouldn't. Even as Acubens spoke, introducing herself, the look lingered. Melting only at the awkward shifting. "Romulus, of craters," she provided after a quiet moment, sinking down to crouch at the end of the steal girder she'd been standing on. Remarque had said there were more, a whole court she would come to call her family. She'd believed him, though that has been easy given the circumstances. It was harder to do so now, though the younger woman seemed open to the possibilities. She was used to having no one but her twin and their mother, and even the latter took a slightly less hands in approach to their raising. An unconventional parent. Instead of focusing on the irony and obviousness of the question aimed up at her, Rommy smiled down at the eternal. "All the fun things happen at night." Which, she was well aware, wasn't strictly true, but it was an appropriate response, and she and her brother were prone to troublemaking by moonlight.

Acubens' mouth uttered a wordless "oh" as Romulus spoke. Why couldn't she be as elegant and well spoken as Remarque? Her awkwardness, it would seem, was an unfortunate carry-over form her life before she corrupted. She futzed for a moment, stepping and side-stepping to find something to say... maybe it would have been better to stay hidden... The thought was chased from her mind as soon as it was born. Of course that wasn't true. If her court was to be the family that she and Remarque wanted it to be, then she needed to be there for everyone within it. Regardless of how awkward she was. So she took a deep breath and halted her shifting. "Do you... always come out here to tag?" It wasn't much of a conversation starter, but it was better then twisting her hands raw with nerves. She would like to know, even if the curiosity wasn't burning a hole in her mind, and at the very least it would get them talking and allow Acubens some insight into her mind.

Dropping down to ground level was easy. A little urban gymnastics on the scaffolding, and she landed with a soft thud on the packed earth not far from the eternal. "Not here specifically, no." To her, or her brother, the reasoning for that was obvious, but Acubens didn't strike her as the troublemaking sort. "You can't keep hitting the same place, security or the cops get wise to it. Makes it too much a hassle." It was why they explored far and wide, leaving no stone unturned. You just never knew what sort of trove you might find in the darker corners of big cities. Destiny City was very big indeed. "So you're a part of the Dark Mirror too? Did you walk through the mirror?" She wasn't yet aware of corruption out of the white moon, of any other methods of awakening. "Do you know Remarque?"

Now that... was a complicated story. Way back when, back when Acubens still wore white... so many faces... it seemed like to many years ago. Time took her eyes away from Romulus and turned them back to her own twin brother, laughing as she crawled through their window scuffed and dirty, towards Lenka as she drilled her on how to patrol and fight... towards Bischofite and his cruelty. Towards Ganymede and Aster and other who could never understand why she turned towards the mirror for help and for safety. "It was more like a fall," she finally admitted with a small laugh. That was a story for another time. Her eyes refocused and she continued, "but yes, I count Remarque as a brother. I knew him before he was a prince," Acubens leaned in and winked slightly, smiling despite herself. Royalty suited her friend well, and had not changed him at all. "It was his counterpart, Leto, however, who claimed me."

Romulous folded her arms, hip jutting to one side to rest against a stack of plaster bags, her head tilted gently to one side in interest. She hadn't met any anyone else yet, not outside their court, or in. It left her very curious. Acubens seemed willing to answer her questions though, awkward or not. "Counterpart," she repeated. "So a princess? Are they a thing?" And at this she'd lift one hand, holding up two fingers and wiggling them to show her meaning. "How many of us are there?" She'd meant to ask Remarque. The question had been there, but it'd gotten lost in the wake of other questions, as well as the rush of new found powers.

It was hard to fight the laughter brought on my the image of Lesath fighting Leto for the hand of her husband. But Acubens did with a cough and a smile and shook her head. "No," she finally said. "They aren't a couple, but they do rule our court in tendem. From what I can gather, since I wasn't there form the beginning, the original queen went missing and to replace her, Remarque and Leto were promoted by... someone or... some... thing..." To be honest, the whole promotion thing was lost on Acubens. All she really knew was that somehow two very good people had been given regency over their small court and everything was moving smoothly because of it. "Not many," Acubens answered the next question with surety. "Some had purified, some have been killed, some have simply vanished. By my last count we have seven, but there have been many recent corruptions and awakenings, so that number is now hopefully woefully short of our actually numbers. But don't worry," she added hastily to quell any doubts that Romulous might have about how small they were. "Our power doesn't come from brute force like the negaverse or the white moon. It comes from how well we work in the shadows and how close we all are able to be because of that intimacy."

Bright eyes widened at the number. She'd suspected it would be low, but not that low. it shown light on why she'd not met another one up to this point, if there were only eight of them. "And the other people, the ones that aren't dark mirror." Her lips twitched thoughtfully. "How many are there of them?"

One less now, Acubens thought wryly on her own corruption. "There are... many senshi who are lost," she finally ventured gently, trying to find the words that would be right. "But that doesn't mean that they can't be found again," she finished quickly. There was so much doubt to be had when your numbers were so few and the threat so large... Acubens knew that doubt well, but she also knew how to best it. "Our focus at this moment is to identify persons who possess the necessary traits to join our ranks and fight for our cause. Sometimes they are awakened as normal people, other times they are turncoats from the other side." She took a step towards Romulous carefully, worried that maybe the rising excitement in her voice might be concerning. "The end goal is to see the end of all this," she swept her arms out to the sleeping city around them. "The end of hardship, of terror. The end of war. Keep your eyes on that, and we can't lose!"

Well that hadn't been what she'd asked, but Romulous supposed the answer worked, regardless. She gave a small hum of acknowledgement, hands dropping to rest at the backs of her hips. It all seemed terribly idealistic, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it left the rebel with a desire to seek out some of the others in their court, find out what they had to say on the matter. Maybe Remarque himself, he had been very forthcoming with information when they'd first met. Or maybe this Leto characters. Princess? Baby blues had flicked off into the darkness of the empty construction site, but they snapped back as Acubens moved closer, and dark brows arched subtly. "Bit of a long way to go, then, is what you're saying?"

Acubens opened her mouth to say something, but decided against it. There really was nothing to say, really. Romulous had been right, they did have a long way to go. So instead Acubens smiled apologetically and nodded. "It helps," Acubens said softly, "to focus on one thing at a time. Remarque is focusing on uniting the members that we have, I think, while Leto is more bent on recruitment. I'm spending my time trying to understand mirrorspace, trying to figure out what uses it has. Taking small chunks from the big problem makes getting to the goal a lot easier. Many hands makes little work and all that." She laughed nervously and twisted her hands, suddenly very aware that she had no where to put them in that moment. "I'd say right now focus on information acquisition. Find out as much about us as you can from as many members. Meet as many of us as you can. Once you feel like you know what you're about, then start fighting. In whatever way you see fit."

Romulous wasn't looking for comfort, so much as she had been seeking answers, but that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate what Acubens was trying to do. She supposed, in the abstract, that the knowledge of just how small their court was in the grand scheme of things could be scary or overwhelming. To Rommy it wasn't. Maybe she just couldn't grasp the magnitude of it, or maybe it didn't matter to her. She tended to take things in stride, digesting information as it was given, and not over thinking it. She made another few soft hums of acknowledgement at the other girl spoke, nodding here and there. It was all good to know, all good advise, and the teen was inclined to take it, though she'd already been planning to seek out the rest of her court anyways. But again, sometimes the message was as much for the person giving it, as it was for the person receiving it. Acubens wanted to help, so Romulous would let her. "So I know I can't reveal what I am to my brother." She'd asked, and had been disappointed with the answer, but respected it. It would put him in danger, and she didn't want that. "But what about the rest of our court? What about anyone else?" It wasn't about bragging. She just felt it might be nice to have other's around in her normal day to day life that knew the secondary life she was living.

"Well," Acubens began slowly, "I guess that's up to you. I haven't shown my civilian self to many of our court... for me that's a very intimate thing to know. For others, it's not so big of a deal. So it really depends on what you are comfortable with." It struck Acubens, suddenly, that maybe keeping such sensitive information to herself might be, in fact, disadvantageous to her cause. If she was trying to sew trust among her ranks, should she not trust them with the most intimate knowledge of who she was? Of course then, she ran the risk of getting hurt if someone was thinking about giving out information... or even if someone was just sloppy and forgetful that information could leak out... That was a puzzle for another day. She smiled again, returning to the topic at hand. "In terms of other civilians, again, it's really up to you. Do you want your civilian friends to know who you are? It's important to keep in mind, however, that they may be fighting for another team... so you run that risk. Again, I was advise the the only people who know who you are outside of this," she gestured to her own fuku, "are people that you know are dark mirrors and that you know won't let that sensitive information slip out."
