Out of Character
Things you need to know.

Introduction
Hopefully most role-players understand the basic concept of out of character comments already but there is some confusion that this sticky will help to clear up.

If you have queries about OOC and where to use it, please feel free to post in this thread.

What is Out of Character then?
Out of Character (OOC) is a comment written within a role-play post that is not considered to be part of the story. Such comments are always applicable to the role-play but characters rarely if ever react to them.

A comment that does not relate to the role-play or any of the characters or the environment can be considered to be off-topic and therefore spam. A lot of role-players do not take kindly to others discussing how there day has been when they're trying to immerse themselves in the story.

What should I do with OOC?
Much of the time, a private message is simply all that's needed to communicate between one player and another and potentially the original poster (GM), this means that it is rarely needed as part of the role-play but there are sometimes advantages to posting something in a post that is OOC.

All OOC within a role-play should be "spoiler'd" this means, wrapping the OOC text with the spoiler tags. Sometimes there is a designated thread for OOC, you should use this and sometimes if necessary post a link to the post in spoilers within the role-play (avoid if possible).

But I want to socialize!
As do we all, we have within Hollow Within areas to chat, areas to discuss specific role-plays and areas to role-play, if you are unclear, please ask a crew member
