((Two days after Axiom)) Mara rubbed the side of her neck as she walked. Even after so long, her neck gave off a twinge of pain from where Lucian had shaken her during the fight. The fight seemed so long ago but in terms of time was still fairly recently. Hexxis has woken up, Ree had gone scarce but still around the base ..the only one truly missing after that mess with the truth serum was Kae herself and maybe Ashral but no one really wanted to see her come back.. ever. Wearing black pants this time she looked around and knocked on the door, wonder if Kae will answer of ignore her.

x x x x xIt had been quiet within the bedroom, only a glimmer of illumination could be seen beneath the door if you looked hard enough. As a knock came, it was quiet for a few moments, then there was movement from behind the door, rustling, and a thud. Followed by more rustling.
The door unlatched and it opened slowly, only a crack as Kae peer out with tired and exhausted eyes, her hair unbrushed and her glasses off as she stared back at Mara then shifted her eyes to the floor. "...mara...." she whispered through a raspy voice then opened the door wider for her to enter reluctantly.
Inside, the bed was unmade and there were journals strewn across it and on the floor near the bed. On her desk, quite a few empty alcohol bottles as there was an already poured glass on the surface that it looked like she had been drinking from just before answering the door. The lights were off and the only thing illuminating the room was a small desk lamp, carefully positioned over a set of unfinished inhibitors. "...what did you want.." she asked bluntly, not sure why Mara would be here in the first place. Unless she was trying to see progress, which she seemed to have none since their last talk.

Mara took in her unkempt look with a frown as the first whiffs of alcohol made their ways out from the room. She let out a soft sigh as Kae looked away from her after whispering her name. //darn it Ree.....// she thought quietly as she watched Kae open the door wide enough for her to enter and she did so quickly before Kae could change her mind.
Inside she cast her gaze around quickly, noticing the nearly darkened room, the bottles on the floor and the filled glass on the table. The light that were held over the inhibitor seemed more like an accusation in the near dark room than an actual needed source of light.
"...what did you want.."
To the point like always. "I'm on break today. I wonder if you wanted to join me in getting something to eat. Maybe pass by and look in at Melody ..or just. Talk " she said calmly, turning around until she was facing Kae again, viewing her face with a hint of concern on her own.
It had not been her original plan, she was just going to check that Kae was still alive and go hide out under her covers for the rest of the day. A good scare with drama to follow it was the best thing to jumble up her psyche, something she was still working through. Except until she found that Kae hasn't been seen since the incident and finding her like this right now..better to see if she would take a hint and go out with her for at least an hour or so.

x x x x xKae sighed as she moved through the room like it was clear as day to her. "...sorry about the mess, i've been.... reflecting." she managed to explain, her composure hanging on a thread as she reached out for a brush on the desk and put her hair into a ponytail. She listened as Mara spoke, putting her glasses back on when her eyes narrowed as the suggestion of going out to eat brought her back to the thought of Ree and that whole mess. She looked over to the drink she had been indulging in just minutes earlier as she closed her eyes, realizing how far she'd allowed herself to spiral over this once thing. Taking a breath, she collected her thoughts and nodded. "..yeah.... i guess we could go..." she then looked to Mara, her eyes trying to be stern but only showing how emotionally exhausted she'd become. "Just us though.. I don't think I can handle-..." her voice trailed off and she looked away.
Shaking her head of the thoughts that plagued her, she found her stoic look once more and moved into the small bathroom to gargle some mouthwash to rid the smell of alcohol. She hadn't been drunk just yet this time, another half hour and Mara would have likely seen an entirely unwanted side of Kae. She then moved to the bed, picking up a comfortable shirt and put it on over her camisole. Now ready to at least try to merge back into the real world, she looked to Mara. "Did you have a place in mind?"

Mara nodded when Kae started to reject he idea of visiting Melody, it was worth a try and either ways she was coming out which had been the only goal. "Just us then" she said quietly watching her get ready as she leaned against the frame of the door then glanced around absently when she went to the bathroom.
"Not really but I can think of one or two places on the fly. We can go to the cafe downstairs " what she preferred really "or if you don't mind riding on the back or a motorcycle I can take us to the city and find something there" longer but riding would also make her happy so either was fine. Which left it up to Kae herself where they might go and talk or glare at coffee/water and hoped it burned.

x x x x xThe idea of riding on the motorcycle was extremely tempting but reluctantly pushed the thought aside, it was probably best she take slower steps into acclimating back into the world. "Cafe is fine." she stated simply, it would also allow her to stay in contact with Zira who was running an errand for her. It had been a long two days for her, secluded from otheres while she dealt with her rampant emotions she usually kept safely locked away behind a cold wall. She sighed as she walked over to the desk and closed the laptop. Checking her phone, it was already open to a window that was monitoring Hexxis' heart. Making sure it was all still in the green, she closed the window and opened a different tab for a moment then closed her eyes and turned off the screen on the phone. She then focused a bit as she waved a hand over her face, her ears slowly fading away into a more human appearance and she opened her eyes again, a rich gold color that matched Mara's as she stared at Mara. "..let's go." She then followed Mara to where the cafe was, staying fairly silence during their walk.

Mara relaxed as Kae choose what to do even if she had a faint twinge of sadness for not getting an excuse to push herself to drive out today. She waited until she looked away from her phone and started to change her ears and eyes. Mara blinked and stared at eyes with the similar color of her own..a throw back to some diluted non-human blood somewhere along her line.
"That's odd..." she couldn't help but smile as she was finally able to see the deception go up, as if seeing someone trying to imitate her was a compliment ...instead of the insult many people tried to make it be. "Lets go.." she nodded and pulled away, leading the way down, after a few minutes of silence she glanced back. "If you're going to keep that up... you should know we had an adopted brother..and piece of sh** parents. " she said quietly as they started to pass other people and finally arrive at the cafe itself. She moved toward the line ordered something, would pay for anything Kae ordered as well if she let her before going to grab a table.

x x x x xNoticing the twinge of sadness from Mara and sighed, "Next time, you will have to let me ride with you. I rather enjoy motorcycles despite them being a fairly new concept to me. Just figured I'd take baby steps in.. well,.. leaving this." she motioned to the alcohol on the desk, closed her eyes and sighed.
As they walked, she looked to Mara as she explained behind the guise she had. Adopted brother and piece of s**t parents. "Ahh, so the no different than I already have... well that's easy to work with I suppose." she seemed to confess. "I'm beginning to think being a shitty parent runs in my family...." she mutter off-handedly as they walked then shook her head of the thought. As they reached the cafe, Kae ordered a sandwich and a tea, then changed the drink to a coffee reluctantly. As she checked out, Kae sighed at the offer to pay for her food as she waved her hand dismissively and paid for her own food. She then walked over to a table with Mara and sat down, sitting a little more casually as she was slightly turned, crossed legs, and leaned forward to the table as her eyes looked over the area then fell upon Mara. "I think I needed this.. it's been a rough couple days for me I suppose." she spoke as she stared down at her coffee with a melancholy look on her face, laced with her usual stoic gaze.

Mara looked back at her questioningly as she sat down. "Had bad parents too? " she muttered grabbing on to that shared experience then regretting it. She was supposed to make her feel better...not be tempted to join her for a drink. Oh and yes ...she was Rasiel's mother ...and most metas and okay Yeeep.
"Well I'm not that great either. Not sure if I can blame them or not for it, especially since I let my adoptive son basically become property of the company I work for is not very big up there either. "What the heck was she doing? Sympathizing? Maybe ....goodness she bad at this. Stop talking.
Not what she wanted to say, not at all. She took a deep breath and shook her head, it hadn't been a good week for her either and her emotions were pretty shot as well. "I'm sorry Ree is such an idiot...even more than I thought. We will be working on that if he stays ....I'll let you rail him out more if you want .." Weak offer, great she really sucked at this.

x x x x xKae sighed as she sat down, "Yeah.." she retorted bluntly, not exactly wanting to go into detail about her parents. Mara continued on and Kae snorted lightly, "Well, you can't be that bad, you're son hasn't murdered a relative and caused the start of probably another Great War and run away with his tail tucked between his legs like a coward." she rambled on, then paused, realizing what she was insulating, falling quiet and staring at her coffee. "Being a parent is hard... I've already had two chance and blew it. I mean, there's far more to that story, but I'd rather not discuss such things here... and so sober." she reached into her pant leg and pulled up a flask and poured some into her coffee. She had planned on sobering up instead of continuing to drink, but then again she had't expected this kind of conversation just yet. Mara brought of Ree and Kae frowned. "It's fine.. I didn't mean to go off on him like that... Honestly, it wasn't even about him anymore towards the end.... I was just, lashing out at a past memory I suppose...... I kind of regret it now. she frowned, drinking from her coffee liberally. "Anything new happen.." she asked, trying to divert.

Mara opened her mouth closed it and made a slightly face. Well then ...yep she didn't have much in the way of comfort there.
"I guess there are some books ou-Damn it Kae!" Mara glared as she watched the elf dump a flask of some drink into her coffee. "If I wanted to see you get drunk I would have left you in your room." She reached out and splayed her fingers over the top of the coffee lid and glared at her challengingly as she pushed her own untouch coffee cup forward."let it go....newest thing happening?. I am keeping my sister from showing her real side. Why don't we go with that. Tell me some of our old stories sis"

Her eyes flickered to Mara as she cursed at her, a hint of confusion hitting her face first, then annoyance, then quickly shifted into regret as she sighed. Mara had covered her coffee and offered her own. What a waste of good alcohol. She stared down at the cup now in Mara's possession and sighed once more. She did just as Mara suggest and let it go, taking up the new coffee and drinking it. She kept her tired eyes on Mara as she asked for some of their old stories. Kae stared back down at her cup, tilting it slightly as she twirled the bottom edge against the table idly. "Sure... I remember when we were kids, we got along fairly well despite being unrelated by blood. We had a lot of similar interests. In fact, we did everything together. It was... kinda nice actually." she spoke softly, eyes locked on the cup as she continued her story. "One time we pretended to run away from home, built a house up in the trees and holed ourselves up there for days. Had packed a bunch of snacks and tried to just.. I don't know, I guess we were playing house of something. You fell from the tree once and I laughed about it. It was kinda mean of me honestly, but you were fine. Though you cried because I didn't seem concerned.... I was, I was just never good at showing weakness... I'm still not. I was terrified, with the way you fell that you might have broken your leg. Sprained your ankle just a little, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be healed quickly. Told me you didn't even feel it." her eyes watched the lid then she took another sip of coffee. "You know, those were simpler times. Times before a really great conflict seemed to arise. That split us apart, didn't it? But we were older then. I think you just stayed by yourself, and I had a family by then.. a husband.. and-.." she paused, looking away with regret. Maybe this wasn't the best time to be bringing all that stuff up. Her eyes shifted to Mara, trying to decide. She trusted her honestly, even though she didn't entirely understand why. "I had a daughter then... I insisted she stay with me when all the fighting happened instead of going somewhere obviously safer. Ultimate that was a pretty bad decision and I lost her. In my madness, I turned to science. I studied everything I could. I just.. I wanted to see her again. It's fairly selfish and for some reason I never seemed to regret it. I drove away everyone.... except you. You were there for me. Supported me.... and that's when we created-..." she hesitated, realizing what she was about to say, blinking a bit then shaking her head. "We uhh... created a promise..." she looked to Mara. "We promised that we could always just.. talk.. and never judge the other for horrible past decisions?..." she said apprehensively as she sighed and waved her hand a bit. "Sorry... maybe that was a bit much..." she drank from her coffee.

Mara stared at her, oh sh**. "Uhhh..." at loss for words on how to even try to answer, she reached for the coffee she had taken from Kae and uncapped it to sip. "This was a bad idea, now I remember how much of a pain you were" she said trying to regain her mental balance. "....and how Ama used to fly you upside down when you got to be to much " taking a much longer sip this time. " Those were much simpler times. " agreeing as she stopped herself from just drinking the spiked coffee in one go. " The conflict .."she frowned. "That was about the time we stopped talking, we went our separate ways." she shrugged but it was quick instead of a normal shrug when she didn't care.
" I don't think I ever met your family..." this time she took on a carefully neutral look. "My condolences, not....yes that time is iffy for me. But you were family?" a pained look cross her face as she leaned back and closed her eye for a moment. "Talking is good... talking is .... darn it kae now I want to get drunk" she said opening an eye and giving her an accusing look but it wasn't to serious. "Since I seem to be having faulty memory without it. " she muttered leaning forward again and taking the cup.
"Lets talk about that then family. Why don't you take Melody and Hexxis with you? they are your granddaughters after all. If you wanted a second chance it could quite easily be with them" she said absently, already knowing what she would say but if she was missing her daughter that much they could make up for it? or at least Melody.

Kae raised an eyebrow precariously as Mara began to drink from the spiked drink. Then the comment came about being a pain as she held in a laugh. Typical. She smirked a bit as Mara began to talk of past stories to. Kae's face focused on her own cup, listening intently to Mara's voice, almost imagining her own sister's voice, but shook the thought from her mind. I don't think I ever met your family. "Daemin was my husband.. my daughter..." she paused, then looked to Mara, pain behind her eyes. "I... I don't know if I'm ready to tell you about her." she commented in a low voice, then sighed. Now I want to get drunk. "Then what's stopping you. Let's go back to my room and do that.... It's not like you have to be anywhere today..." she offered, looking away for a moment. She thought briefly then smiled at Mara. "Maybe if I wasn't so sober, I could tell you what you a lot more things." she chuckled a bit then took a sip of her coffee.
Why don't you take Melody and Hexxis with you? They are your granddaughters after all.
It took Kae a moment to process what she said as her eyes went wide and she choked back on the coffee she was drinking, coughing violently for a moment as she set down the cup haphazardly, hand still gripped on it as the other hand braced the table firmly. "Wh-what?" she managed to force out, trying to regain her composure. "I think you must be mistaken. Melody is my granddaughter.... what does that have anything to with Hexxis?" she asked suddenly, trying to piece things together. As her breathing was slowly returning to normal, she looked at Mara with concern. Then her face went stern, "You're kidding me, right?" she seemed to be in utter disbelief that the experiment that she had transferred to SIU had been her own granddaughter. No, that couldn't be. Kae sat there, staring at Mara, in utter silence, speechless at the insinuation. She leaned forward, shoving her hand against her forehead, "I'm not drunk enough for this s**t..."

Mara stared as Kae moved from disbelief to anger then back. She...wasn't aware? oh damn it she wasn't aware. "I thought you knew.... great great great. Well that explains why you didn't contest Tri " she looked back at her and sighed. "When Melody arrived we had her tested against Rasiel's DNA due to some rumors we heard. " a slight frown but she continued. "She came up as a very likely match....don't give me that look either. " she said with a slight raised brow, just encase.
"She might look like him but looks aren't exactly proof. Well... when I went to talk to her, it was after looking at the report from the physical done on Hexxis and noticed very similar marks. I had Hexxis's blood matched... it came back as close as Melody. " she looked down at the coffee and pushed it away moving to grab the pastry instead but just held it lightly in her hands as she looked up at Kae. "I might as well tell you I have a suspicion on who the second parent is. A certain pink hair menace... but there is nothing on file for him. Nor anything left in the hospital for me to test other than what he said about us taking his daughter which could just mean he was planning on adopting her and pulling her to the renegades. " she said quietly, spilling it all out.
