Sundays without a fail were almost always swim days for Briar and this Sunday had been no different, however the weather had felt much too nice to simply just head home and so Briar had instead opted to use some of his pocket money to pick up some cookies at a nearby bakery before heading for the park.
He'd spent the afternoon lingering by his tree and reading through one of the books that he'd picked up from the library, but he still hadn't felt like heading home once done.
Not that it really mattered since it was kind of unlikely that there was anyone home anyway and the park made for nicer surroundings than the empty house.
Although Briar figured that he should probably do a bit more than just read and so had eventually ambled over to where the large rubbish bins were kept and used them as cover to go into superhero mode - à la Sailot Oort.
And it was as Oort that he was currently wandering around with senshi phone in his hand as he tried to keep half an eye out for any monsters whilst at the same time absently skimming through the senshi primer.Guine Quick start :3 Lmk know if I need to change anything

It was too quiet again. Things always got too quiet right before something bad happened. After the attack on the Negaverse and their withdrawal to the moon, things got much too quiet for Oberon’s liking. Of course, he liked to think that he was just being paranoid. Maybe the Negaverse was just taking a break to recoup after such a huge loss. Not that it wasn’t a huge loss on their side as well.
Oberon, on the lookout for youma and other devious individuals, almost missed the aura of another senshi close by. He quickly shifted direction and headed towards the source, almost surprised when he caught sight of a familiar senshi.
“Oort,” he greeted as he approached, lifting a hand to get the other’s attention if he didn’t already see him or sense him. “Hey, you look better. That’s good,” he added in a sigh of relief as he jogged over to where the other had been looking through his phone.
“Have you seen any of the others? Ambrosia or Chara or Tomlin? Perdita is fine. My parents live across the street from her family,” he explained, not seeing any reason to hide something from his ally and, hopefully, friend, despite not knowing each other for very long.

Oort had been reading through the section of the primer that covered senshi that had apparently been corrupted when he picked up on the aura.
He'd gotten better at sensing auras from when he'd first started out and so he knew that it was an Order aura that he was picking up on and that whilst it wasn't a super, super strong one it was still pretty strong.
It had turned out to be closer than he thought however and his senshi phone had still been in his hand when he heard the voice call out his name.
He turned automatically, his reddish eyes curious because as Oort he didn't really know that many people and then realise that he did know the brown-haired senshi approaching him, the hand not holding onto the senshi phone giving a small wave.
"Hi Oberon" he said, adding quietly "Yes I'm okay" before shaking his head at the other's question about seeing the others that had been with them during that time in Nega-Space.
"No you're the first from the group that I've seen since that time" he admitted. "But I've only really started to be able to get out again."
He realised that he was still holding onto the phone and absently closed out of the primer and switched it off before slipping it back into subspace. "I couldn't tell my parents what happened and so I got grounded for ages."
He smiled a small smile as he added "But I'm glad you and Perdita are okay."

"Hmm," Oberon hummed thoughtfully, his arms crossed over his chest. "Well, I guess no news is better than bad news. I mean I guess I could text them, but I don't want to bother them if they're taking time away from this whole mess," he explained, glancing around to make sure he didn't sense anything nefarious.
"That sucks, buddy," he grimaced when Oort told him how he'd been grounded. "My parents already know about this. They didn't believe me for the longest time until someone else told them how I wasn't lying. I guess it's hard to believe anything about monsters and magic. They were surprisingly chill about it, but that's probably only because I'm not the only one in my family involved in this nonsense," he said to Oort, definitely understanding what it was like to hide things.
"Although I still haven't told them that I was turned into a cat over thanksgiving and my birthday one year. Hairballs are the worst."

Oort shrugged slightly "Well they ungrounded me in the end and I'm trying to be careful."
With trying being the operative word, because being grounded really did suck.
Fortunately both of his parents worked late a lot however and his older brother brother wasn't around which made sneaking out easier.
He gave Oberon a curious look when the other mentioned that his parents knew about the whole magic and monsters thing because Oort personally couldn't imagine his parents being in the know "Don't your parents do the fuss thing when you go out?"
Because his would - or at least they probably would if they knew about the whole superhero and monster stuff because his Mum tended to do the fuss thing a lot anyway. Then again it wasn't as if his parents would believe him even if he did tell them.
Because from experience Oort knew that adults didn't tend to believe things about the monsters and magic.
And then he found himself staring at Oberon again when he mentioned that he had been turned into a cat once "What was it like" he asked "Well apart from the whole sucky hairball thing?"

“Yeah, it’s definitely important to try and be careful,” Oberon gave a sage nod to what Oort was telling him. “If you haven’t found out already, it’s sometimes better to run than to get caught up in a fight you probably won’t be able to win. We’re a lot faster than normal senshi,” he explained, and then paused and shook his head. “Well, you are. I’m not any more. I tried clocking my running time and it’s a lot slower than when I was a chibi senshi like you.”
As for the parents fussing thing. “Well… they used to be really upset when they caught me sneaking in or out at night, but once my sister-in-law sat them down and explained what was going on and how she and my brother were involved in the whole magic and monsters thing, too, they kinda relented. I think they felt bad that I’d been going out to fight monsters for years and they never believed me when I said that’s what I was doing,” he explained with a shrug.
“I moved in with my oldest brother before school started, though, so my parents don’t really know when I go out at night any more. I think they just want me to keep up with my studies, and as long as my grades don’t start to decline… Oh it was weird, being a cat. It was years ago, but luckily that same sister-in-law who told my parents what I was helped me then, too. That was before she and my brother were really together, though. It only sucked because I really wanted to have a lot of turkey, but with a tiny stomach I could only eat so much.”

Oort considered Oberon's words with solemn red eyes, "I didn't know that" he admitted at last. "Horatio didn't tell me that chibi senshi are s'posed to be faster."
Then again Horatio hadn't really told him that much and he hadn't seen her since that first meeting by the bakery... And he had looked.
He still looked sometimes although a part of him had kind of become resigned to the fact that she probably wasn't going to come back from wherever she had gone - because he hadn't just once or twice - he'd looked a ton of times.
"I think my parents would still do the fuss thing even if they knew about the monsters" he admitted, because he couldn't really picture his parents being cool and not fussing. "But sneaking out's kind of worked okay so far and it'll probably be easier once I go to high school."
He nodded at Oberon's explanation of the cat thing because whilst he personally thought that it might be fun to try climbing trees as a cat - not being able to have much turkey didn't really sound much fun.Guine Sorry for taking so long to tag this Guine

It’ll definitely be easier once you go to high school. You can always use the excuse that you’ve got to go to the library to study or things like that,” Oberon said with a sage nod. Oort was younger than him, but he was intelligent and cautious, even if he snuck out. It was no wonder that Oberon gravitated towards the younger teen when they were all stuck in Negaspace together.
It was definitely something for Oberon to keep in mind, because with the older generation seemingly more interested in the ongoing war than the future of senshi and knights and the negaverse, some of them needed to be around to knock some sense into them when needed. Maybe it was a little too much to get into just then, but one day.
“There hasn’t been much to do tonight, so I’m probably gonna turn in,” Oberon said as he pulled out his phone to check the time. It wasn’t too late, but he still wanted to get enough sleep. “I’ve got a test tomorrow anyway. You should do what you can to stay safe, Oort. It was good to see you again. Text me whenever,” he said with a thumbs up at the other teen as he took a step back to leave.
“Oh, and if you need an excuse to go out anywhere, just tell your parents you’re hanging out with Peter Gallo. My social media presence is flawless, so they can look me up if they’re worried.” litian Omg I'm so sorry, I didn't realize this got away from me. crying We can call this done here, unless you'd like to post once more! Oort nodded because the library was a good excuse "I go to the library a lot anyway" he admitted with another small smile "So neither of my parents would be surprised if I told them that's where I'm going."
He nodded again when Oberon said that he was going to turn in for the night "I should probably start heading home too" he admitted - because last thing he needed after trying to being so careful was his parents to catch him out late...
Because his mum would ground him again and it was something that he wanted to avoid - given that it wasn't so long since the last instance.
"It was good to see you again too" he said as he turned to leave and then half turned back "And I'll let you know if I see any of the others."
And then with a small wave Oort turned again and started to head home.Guine No need to apologise Guine - I've been slow too. Have a fin tag from me and I totes want to snag more rp from you 3nodding
