It didn't remember when it came to be or how it had gotten here. "Thing" ((as it shall now be referred to)), could only think of going after energy. Nothing else mattered in its mind, it could think of nothing else. Of course Thing's mind wasn't very big in the first place, so it was relying on pure instinct at this point of its existence. Using what was natural, Thing would catch its prey, ignoring the cries of pain that usually followed when it was feeding off of energy. The prey it caught were easy to find too. Thing only hunted in the dark, its red eyes too weak for sunlight, but it's body perfectly built for the dark. With it's dark hide blending in well with the blackness that came with the night, it's 12 beady legs able to grip to walls for easy climbing, the long tail it used to capture its prey at a moment's notice, and finally it's red eyes able to detect thermal energy radiating off of its prey, yes Thing was built for the darkness, even if it was sometimes difficult to find somewhere to rest during the daytime.

Currently though Thing was in an alleyway, clinging onto a wall and hiding in the shadows, currently checking outside of the alleyway for its meal for the night. Or at least one of the meals. Suddenly Thing saw something moving across the road towards the side that the alleyway was on and in Thing's alleyway direction. At least this would be an easy meal, just grab and go, though it would have to be quick to not catch any attention. It had to be careful, it had almost been destroyed before and didn't want that to happen again. So Thing waited for its prey, red eyes shining in the dark.

Slievenamon wasn't much of the daring type, but when it came to youma, she had a penchant of throwing herself into harm's way just to see how she would fair. Now that she was a squire, she did not suffer from the deficit of no magic, so she was quick to enable her Aspect should the need arise. However, that was hardly the case; sometimes, just a quick clock on the head with the end of her shell flute was enough to dust a youma, but considering the variety of types and strengths, there were others that put up a good fight.

Especially when she was looking for one.

The Chaos she had accepted into herself had drove her to seek out fights more than often. However, it wasn't for the sake of learning as she always liked to do, but something she wasn't to instigate. With the dark energy messing with her sensibilities, the squire wandered about without cover, looking for something to attack her. Heck, she seemed to encourage it when she wandered into that alleyway without hesitance, as if silently bidding for any youma to bring it on.

Well this is just too easy! Is what Thing would have thought if it could think like that. However as it couldn't, it was just agitated because of the anticipation of capturing another prey. Thing looked at the other creature with fascination, sensing quite a bit of energy coming from it. Perhaps it wouldn't have to eat as much tonight. It would mean one less meal at least.

It readied itself, crouching against the wall, keeping perfectly still so that it would not be spotted or heard. It had to wait. Wait until it's prey would be unable to get out so easily. Soon enough it was in the middle of the alleyway and Thing readied to strike, crawling silently towards the prey, closer... closer... until finally it quickly whipped out its' tail intending to strike the prey, wrap around its' neck and finally drain it of energy!

That's okay!

Slievenamon had her back turned, as if minding her own, but when the youma's tail suddenly darted out to her with the intent to grab her neck, she jerked sharply around with a glint to her eye. Suddenly, she bashed its tail away with her shell flute, and skidded some distance from where she stood.

"Ha, you youma are really stupid, y'know that?" she taunted, waggling her weapon at it. "Sitting and waiting around for something, you're never gonna feed that way." Slievenamon folded her arms across her chest and began to tap a boot impatiently. "But you're hungry, right? You're free to eat me, but you better put up a damn good fight if you want to!"

Thing was momentarily taken aback as its tail was whacked away, though it quickly recovered and brought its tail back to it, this time putting it over its head so that it could strike quickly. The prey started talking. Of course, Thing didn't understand English or any other language, so it sounded more like screeching. Still though, they prey had seen it and Thing quickly scampered back up the wall a bit, trying to once again hide in the shadows, waiting for the prey to lower its guard. Though that might take a while since it was now on the alert for any attacks.

Thing moved along the wall, keeping quiet as it moved around the prey, intending to strike at it again. Thing crawled closer to the ground now, but it was still covered in the shadows and suddenly whipped its' tail at the prey again, trying to catch a leg this time to trip the prey up so it could no longer run away.

Slievenamon lost focus on the youma momentarily, biding attention by touching a hand on her signet ring. As she tried to focus and draw upon the power of her Aspect, Thing's tail managed to snag her leg and drag her down. A yelp left the squire's mouth before she had a chance to launch into a torrent of curses.

"Crap, s**t, damn!" she cried. "L-let go, you stupid thing! Leggo!"

Slievenamon didn't want to admit she underestimated the youma's strength, but she had. As she scrambled against the ground with one hand, she beat at the youma's tail with the other, determined to have it let her go.

Thing had to move from the wall to completely on the ground now. Eating was easier that way.

The prey was fighting which meant Thing needed to keep a tight grip on the prey, lest it manage to wrangle itself from its' tail and get away. The prey was beating at Thing's tail, which hurt a bit, but it was too hungry to let go. Instead it dragged the prey towards it, getting ready to pin it down and consume the energy contained in it. It ignored the prey's cries as Thing dragged it closer.

It would have to eat quickly. Thing didn't like to be on the ground for too long and the alleyway barely contained its girth to the point where it could not turn around unless Thing managed to climb back onto the walls. The prey was still fighting, but it was finally closer now.

No way... Slievenanmon's mind raced. There is no way I am being done in by a youma. Especially not something as ugly as this!

She continued to flail and hit, but her attempts of escape came to no avail. It seemed all of the struggling in the world would not break her free from the creature's binds. So, instead, the squire just went flat. From a simple glance, one might guess Slievenamon had readily given up. However, that was far from the case.

She simply waited until she was close enough and, when she felt she was in range of Thing's head (at least, what she thought to be its head), she turned her shell flute about to the pointed side and began to jab and stab at it viciously.

"Let go, you ugly thing!" she bellowed. "I won't lose my life to the likes of you!"

Thing screeched in pain as the prey had managed to hit it in one of its' eyes. It quickly let go, trying to recover and ignore the pain. However the prey had done quite a bit of damage to the eye and it could no longer see out of it.

Blinded and now in a bit of a rage Thing could no longer focus on its prey and was confused now. Which meant it did crawl back onto the walls and instead just backed up a bit in the alleyway from the prey. Thing was now flailing its tail wildly, unable to get a good grip on the prey since one of its eyes was no longer working.

Slievenamon only managed to let out one long breath before scrambling back onto her feet to face down the youma again. She grunted when its tail grabbed hold of her wrist and the hand that held her shell flute. Unable to attack, she continued to sputter curses and pull with her might. The only advantage here was that she was on her feet and capable of more movement.

Teal eyes searched wildly about the alleyway for some assistance and, when she saw a brick in the corner, strained herself toward it against the pull of the youma's tail. Barely, she managed to get her fingertips on it, and Slievenamon then flung it at the monster with all of her might.

Thing cried out in pain once more, moving it's tail back. The prey had hurt it quite badly at this point. It was time to try and get away. Unfortunately for Thing, it's primitive brain could not think to go and crawl on the walls up to the roof and away to safety.

Instead, it started to back out onto the street, with the street lights on, blinding Thing even more as it tried to get away. It had chosen badly tonight but it wold try to get away to live another day.

Slievenamon could only look on in abject horror as a youma moved onto street. It wasn't the fact the creature was essentially trying to escape, but because as soon as it backed away, her head lurched to the left to the sight of an oncoming vehicle. The last thing the squire heard before a loud metallic crunch from the impact was the shriek of the driver inside. After a heavy thunk!, the squire's eyes widened to the whites.

s**t! she thought, rushing out to the sidewalk. Is the driver...?

Peering into the cracked passenger side window, she could make out the driver flopped over on the released airbag. Besides a small scrap, probably from the glass that flew everywhere on impact, they looked relatively fine. As for the youma? Well, surely that dusted them, right?

SSBrosB
Sorry for the wait! I hope this was an okay thing to do to possibly dust the youma. If not, I don't mind editing this post to reflect something better. Also, if you wanna end it in a post or two, do let me know.

Unfortunately Thing had been too concerned with getting out of the alleyway and unable to get out if its' panic had unfortunately met its timely demise by way of a car.

It still had the same thoughts before in the last few seconds it was alive, but perhaps that was a good thing, it didn't see its own demise coming.

I'll just end it with this one. Thanks for this rp!
