Dim World
Our world is full of monsters once human. Some secretly live among us, while others openly live apart from us. Most are against us, but some are for us. Though they are collectively dwarfed by our numbers, they wield powers beyond our capability. We, humans, are their prey. Dim World is an RP based in Monghel, a dark fantasy setting inspired by White Wolf's World of Darkness and Crystal Dynamics's Legacy of Kain. It features an array of supernatural beings living alongside humanity.

History
The First Era
Creation Mythos At the start of everything, there was one great all-powerful being. Nobody knows much about him, but at some point he decided to use his power. His will was absolute as he shaped the world of Monghel, this very place we call home. Crafting first the boundless sky to encompass all creation, he then sculpted the land as a foundation for the rest of his work. Filling in the crevices of this new ground with seas both fresh and salty, the world was ready to support the fires of life. He made all manner of living beings, both the flora and the fauna, from these basic building blocks of air, earth, water, and fire. His greatest act came next, the creation of the 2 original sapient races: humans to populate and utilize Monghel and dragons to guide them. His work nearly complete, the great god divided his abilities and responsibilities among the 7 original gods: Bahamut, king of dragonkind; his wife, Tiamat, queen of all dragons; Winston, steward of mankind; his brother, Brennan, ruler of humanity; Carine, lady of nature; Thoth, lord of destruction; and Death, god of balance. Such was the beginning of the first era...
Dusk For reasons unknown to even the pantheon, Death, foremost of the deities, turned the edge of his scythe to Thoth and abandoned his duties. As Carine and Thoth embody fundamental concepts, this reaping of the lord of destruction not only did not halt catastrophe, it directly led to ruin. Unfettered by an ego, the force of corruption spread across Monghel like a disease. This plague encompassed all, decaying god, dragon, and human alike. This event is known as Dusk.

Human One of the original sapient races, they were not directly affected by Dusk due to their low supernatural aptitude; however, the indirect consequences of Dusk have resulted in a small population due to rampant natural disasters, the rise of monsters, and the wars brought about by this strife.
Celestial With Dusk having turned dragons ethereal, Bahamut needed to find a way to keep assisting humanity. Though he would have preferred another way, he came up with a method for humans and dragons to spiritually merge, empowering those who did to carry out the mission of dragons. This merging ritual was later adapted by Tiamat and Ouroboros after their defections. This stance devolved until she could no longer bear to help humanity. She then grew bitter, separating from Bahamut and with 1/3 of the dragons, and began to actively work against Bahamut and humanity. For this betrayal, their scales changed from metallic to chromatic, symbolizing their rebellion. Tiamat's first plan was to teach humans magic, hoping that they could not handle the introduction of such power with the societal structures they had formed; while the emergence of human mages was problematic, it did not achieve her desired end. Vampire Dusk twisted Winston's sense of morality by making it extreme. He soon could not fathom how he could be a responsible steward of humanity with Brennan constantly undermining his efforts. He reached and acted upon the conclusion that Brennan need to be eliminated. Having murdered his deific brother over differing approaches to human progress, he was now the sole deity of humanity. Despite this supposed victory, his extremism only grew to the extent that he began to see the aspects of humans as they are, and not the aspects of humans as they can be, as most representative of humanity. He baptized his followers into what he now deemed to be the essence of humanity, and they have spread and plagued humans every since. While most are consumed by Tiamat and Ouroboros's dragons or entered an everlasting daze due to the uniform emptiness of the ethereal plane, some managed to hide from dragons and stave off apathy and lethargy. Seeing that they have no hope in the afterlife, they call upon the negative forces of the universe to repossess and reconstruct their corporeal bodies so that they may "live" once more. Dragon One of the original sapient races, these reptilian paragons of magic were deeply afflicted by Dusk, transforming them into ethereal beings. Their allegiance is split between Bahamut, Tiamat, and Ouroboros.
