Akio had decided to take a walk that night, any excuse to get away from the dorms and the school he hated so much even if just for a moment. He decided to walk the back alleys to try and avoid running into anyone.
The black magatama around his neck bounced as he walked with his hands in his jean pockets. He let his thoughts wander to a dark place as they often did, thinking about how much he hated life right now. Screw it, its not worth getting so worked up over. He told himself indifferently.
The walk had been rather uneventful until Akio ran into him. Some strange guy with really long hair had been standing in the alley. But the guy who had been there was suddenly with replaced with someone else, another guy with ridiculously long hair a rather revealing costume and a really big bladed staff.
All of Akio instincts were telling him to leave right now. With all of the weird dangerous stuff going on in this city this person couldn't be good to be around. So he began to back away hoping the man hadn't noticed him. Unfortunately he backed into a trash can sending it clattering to the ground. He cursed his own terrible luck and tried to break away in a sprint.

Ashanite was usually incredibly careful about where he powered up. He took to back alleys and hidden places, where it would be deeply unlikely for anyone to see him. He had been doing this long enough to grasp the critical importance of secrecy, and he really was careful.
But there was no planning for civilians.
He hadn't noticed the boy, until he was already powered up and doing a few quick stretches and the clattering of trash cans made him turn.
"Bollocks," he said under his breath, and then he desummoned his weapon and took off in pursuit. There was too much risk that this boy had seen Damian Howe become General Ashanite - he had to be either corrupted or eliminated as a risk.

Akio looked behind him for a second to see the strange man running after him. He sprinted as fast as he could but the man seemed to be gaining on him quickly as he ran through the alley.
His bad luck continued as he tripped over a garbage bag while he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Internally he was cussing himself out for not looking out. As he begun to get up he saw some strange floating object.
It was a small skull shaped incense burner that was glowing slightly and levitating off the ground "What is going on?" He muttered very confused unsure what to do and distracted from the weird man by this even weirder development.

Ashanite paused, for a moment, to evaluate the situation he was in. There was no chance this poor civilian was going to get away, anyway, and he didn't seem to be powering up - so perhaps not such a risk? Perhaps he could be allowed to...
And then Ashanite's eyes fell on the glowing incense burners, and he sighed, heavily.
He teleported forward, sinking his hand into the kid's back and grasping his starseed.
"Sorry," he said lightly, "but I promise I'm saving you from a much worse fate."
And then he pushed, feeling Chaos flow through him like water. It felt so natural, so easy - like breathing, almost.

Akio felt an intense burning sensation in his back, what was the the man doing to him. He felt like some horrible force was being pushing into him.
"Wh...aat?" He tried to ask as the pain began to be replace with strength flowing through him.
His clothing had been replaced with a charcoal and blue kimono with black hakama. In his hand was a black shinai.
"What did you do?" He asked though he was still shaking unsure of what the strange man would do next.

"Welcome to the Negaverse," Ashanite said, as he slid out his hand, regarding his new Lieutenant and considering, "Lieutenant Lapis Lazuli."
Blues, bright blues -- it felt fitting.
"I made you stronger. And also stopped you from becoming a soldier in a much less organized army." A slightly amused grin played on his face, the best way he could think of to play off how tired he felt. Corruption was...not as easy as Laurelite made it look.
At least Lapis hadn't blacked out.

"Huh Negaverse? Lapis Lazuli? What are you talking about? That's not my name." He stuttered out questions as his mind raced to try to understand what just happened and what this weird guy was talking about.
"Does this have to do with the terrorists or whatever is happening with this city?" He asked trying to anchor himself. It was obvious to him once he moved to this city that there was something more happening, he just didn't know what.
"Who are you? and What do you want with me?" He just wanted to leave at this point, he still wasn't sure if this guy wanted to hurt him or not and he would rather not leave that to chance.

Ashanite sighed heavily. Giving someone the full pitch was going to be so much more effort than he had anticipated, it seemed, but then - well. What had Aegir told him, when he first became a Knight? He thought back, considering.
"It does, in fact, have to do with the terrorists. Gang activity, or whatever they're calling it these days, I suppose." He huffed. "So exaggerated, so ridiculous."
he waved a hand, briefly. "I am General Ashanite, of the Negaverse. Hypothetically, I could pull out a whole prepared speech about how we are the defenders of the Earth, the powerful chosen few, so on and so forth," he waved a hand, "but the first and last truth of it is this: the Negaverse stands as one of two groups locked in a struggle that has been going on for a thousand years. And we, in the end, will be the winning side, because our enemies have no hope of matching what we are capable of. If I had not made you into an officer, which is what you are now - I would have had to kill you. And that would have done nothing for either of us."Aurelius Ambrosius he's so helpful and charming

Lapis was still scared and confused but already his mind was turning at the General's little speech. He was absorbing and processing the information.
"But how could you possibly know that General, throughout history there have been examples of the seemly weaker side winning a war. We are standing in an example of one right now. So even if this Negaverse is vastly more powerful than this other side that in no way guarantees you a victory. If anything over confidence in it's military strength often portends a nation's failure in war. And if this war has been going for a thousand years like you claim then clearly this other group has found somewhere to entrench themselves or else they would have been eliminated by now." He rambled on his love of war history overtaking his fear and confusion.

Ashanite's eyebrows went up.
Of all the things he had expected, a cogent discussion of strategy and military history was not on the list.
He liked this kid. It was a rare thing to find someone who could actually rise to a debate, and being challenged on his rhetoric certainly wasn't going to kill him.
"You aren't wrong," he acknowledged, "and while I could say I and many others had dreams of a future where the Negaverse won, that's its own circular fallacy. We won in the past, the last time this happened, as my understanding goes, and that, so the tale goes, is why Earth is the last bastion in this. But Order, the other side, only has one strength, and that's that they're a bit like cockroaches. They awaken spontaneously, so they can pop up anywhere." It was ground he was willing to cede, at least. "Outside this city, though, the Negaverse's domination is absolute. The last ragtag elements are fighting here, and it's a very brave and noble struggle, but it's a lost cause. I've seen the difference in power myself. I was one of them, once."

"They won last time?" That was an interesting statement and one he would have to unpack later.
The young boy was unsure about this new world he had been forced into but he supposed he didn't have much of a choice in it.
"Ok General tell me what I have to do." He listened as the general explained his new role in life. The night grew old as the two officer spoke.
