Jeremiah had made it back home, his head swimming after his trip to other ashdown. It was a different kind of pain, though he did have a slight headache, and he had settled Hellbine with Violetta once he was home as his brain - as his memories - sorted themselves back into order. The kittens had been fed and tended to, the detective not entirely surprised that Algie was not home. It lead to him thinking about something else, something he had long since tucked away and resolved to not be. A trip through the back parts of his walk-in closet lead to him finding what he looked for and he stared at the box for a few minutes before he opened it and slipped the contents away into his pocket. It was forgotten in the process of making something for dinner, Jeremiah putting together an easy meal because he knew Algie would be there. There were more than a few stray thoughts in his mind, things that he would need to do ... The bitter ache that he had had for several days suddenly made a bitter sort of sense. The table was set and he was, not for the first time, finding himself putting the finishing touches on dinner while waiting for the other man.

Algie had a lot to think about after meeting Sunny but mostly it left him with a sort of hollow worry in the pit of his stomach. The sinking feeling was eating back at him, the feeling that he had to just wait and see what happened- that he was helpless to the tide of things. He was in thought, furrowed brow and faraway look until he registered he was walking in the door and it snapped him back to reality. There was food smell (enough to get his attention quickly) which meant Jeremiah was home. He never really thought to text unless he was worried about something. Maybe they should be checking in more often. He pulled off his jacket and tossed it on a chair (there was possibly a small pile of tweed developing in the entryway seat) before undoing the buttons on his cardigan as he came into the kitchen. "What're we having?" Jeremiah was approached and leaned in to kiss.

The entryway chair was definitely starting to become it's own pile of things, of their things, as well as accruing shoes. He was lost in his thoughts, mulling through everything, the worry in his stomach only eased because of the fact he did have his memories back. Not that he could honestly say why. At the sound of the front door, he was turning with the dish with dinner in it and ended up meeting Algie as he came into the kitchen. The other man was met halfway for a quick, chaste kiss before he was making quick long, strides to set the dish down on the table. He had not responded yet. Instead once the dish was down on the table, the last thing as always, he was turning back towards Algie and herding him until he was backed up against the nearest surface. Jeremiah's fingers curled into the fabric of Alg's cardigan, a hand sliding under it and around his waist, as he really kissed him. Not some soft press of lips, not some quick snog, but something that would leave them both breathless.

Algie made a noise of soft surprise when he was abruptly herded and pressed against the edge of the kitchen counter. The kiss was returned as fervently as it was given once he figured out what was happening, and the shorter man's arms slid around Jeremiah's waist to hold him close. When they finally broke apart he huffed sassily, "Straight to dessert then..."His glasses were comically crooked on his face.

Jeremiah chuckled, the noise was low, and his eyes were crinkled at the edges as he gave Algie one last parting n**. "No, not straight to dessert," he replied, even if his hand did slip down to grab the other man's arse and pull him closer. The taller man nuzzled his nose along Alg's cheek. "I made my chicken parmesan." Never waste his chicken parmesan, it was amazing. Another house favorite as well. He pulled back enough to fix Algie's glasses even if he did like the way they were crooked and the slight pink to his ears. "I just ..." he took a breath, nuzzled once more and then took a small step back. His hands were still on the other man even if they were both resting on his hips now. "I can remember, Alg." Which meant that Algie was just that much more wonderful in his book because of how he had dealt with everything after the conversations they had had before he had lost his memories.

"Ah.." Algie fixed the glasses also before his hands settled back on Jeremiah's waist. The pink ears didn't quite go away, "Well.. I'm glad. How are you?" He was sure there had to be some level of confusion or disorientation as the memories resurfaced, maybe frustration at a replay of events. Really it hadn't bothered Algie so much to go through things again- it just helped him solidify it all a bit more in his mind. He just wasn't sure what he'd done to deserve the enthusiastic greeting, not that he was complaining. It was at least enough to help him not fall back to thinking about Sunny and their conversation.

"A bit of a headache," he admitted, "but nothing like the last." Not when Jeremiah had lost his memories. This was like a fog had lifted and he was having to sort through and organize everything. It had been disorienting to find himself with them back. To understand that while he had forgotten some part of him had not and that was why ... "I went to see Heliodora," which he had told the other he was going to do because he had taken the books with him, "and it was after I crossed back over to Ashdown that they came back." One more nuzzle to Algie's face and he was pulling him towards the other room and dinner. The beers that the other had brought from his apartment were on the table. "... which is how I lost them in the first place, as I was crossing back over."

Algie closed his eyes a bit at the nuzzle, still getting stomach tumbles like a teenager because the blatant affection was still new for them. He was easily tugged out into the kitchen, staying close with an arm around the other man's waist until they had to pass through the door frame. "How did that go?" Alg's stomach grumbled now that food was closer, "She's rather agreeable, hm?"

Jeremiah likely would always be a little too close, a little too touchy. At least when it came to Algie because years of wanting to touch lead to resisting and now that he was free to do so ... Well. He would do as much as possible (and got those same stomach tumbles himself). "Better than my last visit," a snort, "but she did confirm what I wanted to know about," he took a breath, chuckling as he was pulling out Algie's chair for him again, "magic." Jeremiah was taking the seat next to him again but only after leaning his head out of the dining room and making sure there weren't two white shaped gluttons trying to sneak in. "She is, if only impossibly young for one who's supposedly so old." Food was dished out to each plate, Jeremiah leaving the beers to Algie to open. A bottle opener nearby and the glasses, of course, chilled.

Algie opened the beers and leaned to pour for each of them before the food was dished out. "Magic-" Algie repeated before taking a sip of the beer and making a pleased noise, "-so are you a proper wizard now, Harry?" Yeah he did. And he played up the accent.

"Alg. Really?" Jeremiah rolled his eyes, taking his drink and having a sip of it himself after the noise the other man made. It was good but Borr always had excellent brews for sell. He would give the other a pass because, honestly, he remembered what he did while with Heliodora. "... but in a short answer, yes." There was a bit of a smirk. "Not that it amounts to anything on this side." Jeremiah reached out with a hand and pinched at Algie's side. "No magic beside the things that we seem to do without thinking."

Really. He looked very smug about it, especially after Jeremiah confirmed that was exactly what happened. "That's a little reassuring to be honest. If all those who were take-" During the fog, their first outing, "have powers? I'm not sure I'd trust some of them to behave." There was a wriggle and mild grump when he was pinched it, if only because he was making to take a bite of his food.

Jeremiah just shot Algie another look, his foot hooking the other man's trouser leg and a toe tugging lightly. He let the other man wriggle away, going to pick up his fork and have a few bites of food before speaking again. "You and me both." It was true that he had met a fair amount of them, could also find out who some of the others were, but he did not trust some of them to behave or even be accountable for their actions. "She did tell me after I inquired," his voice was quiet a moment, the next bit a little sombering, "that we would be able to have magic here as well if she were to die and Adoelle was likewise removed from the equation." It was no longer just a toe hooked on Alg's trouser leg but a foot across his.

The hollow feeling opened again inside of him, an echo of how he'd felt on his trip back from the beach. Algie put his fork down and sighed a moment, wiping his mouth on his napkin. "Sunny told me they would die-" He glanced at Jeremiah and spoke softly, "Showed me. Someone-" there was pause before he continued, "cutting her throat. There was another body there I couldn't identify." He needed a moment before he could eat again, the vision still swimming in the back of his mind with the memory of a red smear on the sand. "And It Walks- even while caged it still walks."

Jeremiah's fork was set down, his napkin used, and then his hand reached out for Algie's. He may not have the same warm soothing hands the other hand, and he was colder than he used to be now, but he could still smooth his thumb across the pulse point of the other's wrist and then rest there. Mentioning Sunny reminded him ... This was not the place, not the time. "I ... that's what that thing said." The burning, smoking thing that he had made his deal with. "That It was awake, after fifteen hundred years." Their chairs were near each other, Jeremiah at the head of the table, Algie next to him, and he was scooting his chair closer. "I imagine we'll only see more and more things that confirm this but it is still caged and we can only try to ensure it stays that way."
