The mission was simple enough. Fetch special berries of some kind. Bamidele flapped his wings as he flew a few feet off the ground, making sure to stay low given that he was carrying a crudely fashioned excuse for a bag and he didn’t want to risk it falling off of as he flew. Also so he could communicate with the companion alongside him.
Sigh, he wasn’t sure why he had agreed to go on this mission. Temitope had said something about him ‘making an impact’ in the group and that doing this was a ‘good thing’ but the vulture had some serious doubts. From all the time he had spent around Temi Bami had got the impression that cheetah wasn’t all that bright.
That said, he might have been a tad biased. He had first met the cheetah after he had gotten his head stuck in a log and that had been quite a long time ago now that he thought about it. “So, have any idea where we’re going exactly?” He asked the familiar next to him. He sure hope that they did, because Bami only had a rough general idea of the location they were travelling towards...

Amitola knew the pride didn't look upon her breed with much favor. She was constantly having to prove herself worthy among the other more aggressive birds. That didn't bother her too much as she had every right to be here being bonded to Leto Eha. The only downside was that Leto was a member of the council that helped the ruler make decisions. The bird didn't regret her partner's rank at all. It was just boring sometimes, no most of the time. They talked and talk and debated things to death. On occasion they'd ask her to fetch something or someone. That wasn't too bad as long as the thing or person in question listened to her.
Today however she wasn't going to sit on a perch all day! Amitola knew of a mission that had been assigned to some and had volunteered to join in. It'd be nice to get out of the council grove, and stretch her wings. She would prove she could be useful! The bird winged her way to join her comrades in this venture. "Hello!" She chirped at the vulture she saw waiting. She tilted her head, both to eye his bag and look at him. "To get some berries right?"
A sleek feline oozed her way out of the shadows. It was lucky for these silly birds that she was so well fed. Her and her partner, Gyatso, were excellent hunters for the pride. They stuck too close to the ground and within easy reach if she'd wanted to catch them. Biborka narrowed her eyes and purred. Gyatso was off hunting with some the larger hunters to go after big bag. Much too big for her anyhow. So she'd been assigned to "hunt" these berries.
"I believe I know where they are bird. It's a dense thicket that guards them. I will slip in and toss the berries up to you so you don't risk getting your wings caught in the thorns." Oh the birds probably could have done it by themselves, she admitted. They could hop in among the branches. Still if they got caught they'd be easy prey indeed. Surely their partners wouldn't want them injured, or worse.

"Yes." Bami spoke to Amitola. "That's what the bag is for." He poked at it with his beak. It amused him to some degree that such a small bird was coming along. Wasn't she concerned for getting eaten? Or hurt? Then there was also the fact that this bird was a familiar to one of the higher-ups, which was an interesting little factoid to Bamidele. Or at least that's what Bami vaguely remembered of her from the brief run-ins their masters had with one another in the past. Or maybe he was thinking of a different bird, hmm.
He turned his attention to Biborka as she arrived. The brightly coloured feline had somehow escaped his notice. Hmm. He wasn't sure he liked that. "This is everyone coming right?" He asked the group, looking from both Biborka to Amitola. "Lead the way then, feline."

"Oh that's a good idea!" She hadn't considered how they'd carry their prize back. Silly, she should have thought of that too. Amitola fluffed up unconsciously to try to appear at least a little bigger. "I'm Amitola. What's your name?" Really she spent too much time in the council grove. It would do her good to get out more and meet other birds.
Amitola fluttered nervously as a serval seemed to ooze from the shadows startling close. It wasn't often she felt like she was being eyed as prey. She turned on her perch to face the small cat. Birds and cats should not be assigned missions together. Despite the predatory look of the feline, she made no moves to grab either bird. Biborka nodded, both confirming that this was it for their group and her right to lead the way. Her whiskers twitched with amusement as the smaller bird was clearly startled. Apparently she hadn't considered what living with the big boys meant. She herself felt the same with anyone but Gyatso. It would be so easy for a lion of hyena to consider her food for them, thus she was wary when in bigger company.
"I'm Biborka," she said as she turned and walked off. They had the advantage of being able to fly which meant they could move faster than her. Biborka focused on moving quietly and swiftly as she headed toward the berry patch. Despite not looking for them, she did listen for the sound of their wings flapping to keep track of them. The serval was positive she could loose the birds. If she wanted to.

Biborka didn’t appear to be very chatty, Bami noted. He supposed that was fine, after all most of the felines in the pride weren’t social types. Even some non-felines weren’t chatty. The vulture had spent enough time around Temi to know how to pick those people out of a crowd.
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the thought of Temitope’s anti-socialness. Didn’t need the two familiars he was with thinking that he wasn’t amused by whatever it was they were saying.
Amitola and Biborka, their names were long. “I’m just going to call you Ami and Bibka alright?” He told them in a casual tone. “My name’s Bamidele, but you can call me Bami or Dele or what have you.”

Amitola fluttered her wings as the cat moved off. She was glad there was another bird on this mission. Biborka would have to take them both out to avoid one being a witness, and that in itself would be suspicious. She felt safe in the company. At least she wasn't paired with two cats! Luckily the cat seemed to want to get this done as quickly as possible, which worked for her. She hoped they would be able to work together.
The bird glanced at Bamidele as he wanted to shorten her name. Ami sounded just fine to her, so she gave a nod. "I think Dele would be easier for me to remember." She gave a positive head tilt toward him. It was so hard to not be able to smile with a beak. Her lioness could read when she was happy, but she wasn't so sure about these two. Biborka stiffened and looked back over her shoulder. "My name," she replied stressing the word, "is Biborka. Not Bibka." The feline growled a low warning deep in her throat. She expected to be addressed properly. Particularly by flying, feathered snacks. It was an insult to want to take the 'or' out of her name just because he was too lazy to bother with it. And the other bird was of course fine with her name shortened. Pah!
"Let's go, unless you want to just sit around all day." She swished her tail at the lazy birds hoping to startle them off their perches.

“Good, Dele I am then.” Bami gave a happy chirp to Ami, pleased she had gone along with him and chosen a nickname to refer to him as. He was significantly less satisfied with the feline’s response. He even flinched when she swatted her tail at them. Eesh, remind him not to get on Biborka’s bad side...
“Alright then. To the berries we go!” He took off.
