Things hadn't gotten any better after he joined the pirates. No. In fact, Fog thought they took a perverse delight in tormenting him. Why was that? He proved he was capable and vicious. Yet still they mocked him about his coat. If not directly to his face, then for sure behind his back. Oh maybe not so openly toward the end, but what did that matter now? They were all gone.

He was alone again.

The brightly and undignified male plodded disconsolately onward. What was the point? Fog couldn't answer why he pressed on as he did. It wasn't like he had anyone waiting for him or a place to be heading to. He spotted a cool spot in the shade of a leaning rock. Maybe he'd just rest there for a time. The weary male plodded up and sat his rump carelessly into the cooler earth.

Today, Kali had been feeling particularly fiesty. On her most recent return to the mortal realm, she had decided to try her paw at the whole 'mortal thing,' which mostly meant traipsing around in her mortal form. She was still causing as much havoc and mischief as before, but now it was even more confusing for her poor victims, not knowing what could have caused it.

At the moment she found herself atop a collection of larger rocks, using the vantage point to spot potential mortals to play with. Her bone scythe was carefully laid next to her, out of sight for any possible onlookers. She rolled back and forth on her back, quite enjoying the feeling of the warm rock against her fur; it was such an odd feeling, not having her wings outstretched beneath her. She reached up to scratch behind her ear with a paw, suddenly remembering that her horns were away, too. She paused a moment, thinking how strange and different it was, but quickly started grinning again remembering how much she loved playing pretend.

Her rolling and wiggling stopped when she realized that she was no longer enjoying the rock alone - she had apparently not been paying well enough attention to notice the approach of another. Flipping over, she slid herself precariously over the sloped edge of the rock she was on, finding herself just above a bright stranger. Extending her paws a bit, she playfully tried to swat at the tips of his ears and mane, maybe only actually touching a few hairs. If she moved down any further, she'd fall straight on top of him.

He'd just settled for his pity party slash nap when something barely brushed against the top of his mane. Fog glanced lazily around him, thinking he'd might accidentally sat on an ant hill. Though it didn't occur to him that ants would have to start at the bottom and work up. Not seeing too many ants around him thankfully, he considered a bug had flown into his mane. He reached up a paw to brush it free. A few strokes brought nothing into sight so he assumed it must have freed itself.

Fog gave a tremendous sigh. What really was he doing? Laying in the shade. Where was he going? To sleep. Simple answers like that. Yes that suited him for now. It didn't occur to him to check the top of the rock where he'd chosen to lay lest anyone would be laying up there. Really who could be up there in this heat?

Squinting her eyes in frustration, Kali was growing impatient. She hadn't necessarily wanted the male to look up and be shocked that she was there, but she had wanted more than that. All of her efforts, wasted. Curling herself back up on the top of the rock, she looked around, finding little pebbles and moving them into a small pile near the edge she had just been dangling from.

One by one, Kali dropped the small rocks with varying intensity. Every couple of rocks, she'd really put some force into it, tossing it right down on him. She stretched her legs out behind her, laying on her belly, snickering quietly at the new amusement she'd found with this mortal. If he ever looked up, she was sure he would make a fuss, which is what drove Kali to keep dropping rocks on him.

Rocks falling onto him definitely got his attention. Fog grumbled as he sat up bleary eyed. Why couldn't a lion just get some decent sleep? He peered around. There was no one around him on ground level. That fact was undeniable. Finally he looked up to the top of the large boulder that was shading him. Lo and behold there was his culprit. A dark colored lioness.

"What's your problem missy?!" He growled out like a grumpy old man. "Got a problem with Pink?! Eh?! No manners to let a sleeping lion lie." He harrumphed at her and hoped she'd go away.

Finally. Her canines flashed white against her dark pelt as she grinned, though, she wasn't as pleased about being called 'missy.' "Missy?" She propped herself up slowly, her eyes shrinking into slants. She rolled her shoulders, extending her wings out at her sides; they cast a dark shadow over the lion below.

In one fluid motion, she glided down from her perch. Standing before the pink lion, she didn't quite measure up, but that never daunted the smaller goddess. "And why on earth would I find fault with the color of your fur?" She tilted her head to the side slightly, taking a small step forward. "But no, you're quite right, I don't have much in the way of manners." She smirked, raising a paw to her mouth to groom out an out-of-place patch.

I'm so sorry for the wait! I'd love to finish this and possible have him cursed. =D

He was startled by the flash of canines, but more so when she floated down from the rock. What the heck was going on?! Did he have heat stroke? It must have been a figment of his imagination. Despite that, he couldn't rationalize away the odd shadow she cast. Something just wasn't right.

Fogh blinked at her for a moment confused. Who didn't find fault with his fur color? He wasn't sure if she was playing with him or not. Everyone thought pink on a male simply hilarious. The pink male was completely at a loss of what to do next as the dark lioness stood before him and admitted she didn't have manners. "Well then why don't you try to learn some and leave me alone." Belatedly, he realized by requesting to be alone, she might do exactly the opposite just to annoy him.

"I can't say that I've ever been one to do what others ask." She shrugged her shoulders a bit, letting out a small laugh. "But you seem exceedingly determined to make sure you have a bad day." Leaning back in a stretch, Kali was trying to ignore the obvious attitude that he was displaying. Usually, mortals saw the wings and the horns and quieted right up. Defiant wasn't really a characteristic that she was familiar with.

"Why don't you just...chill out." Flexing her toes, Kali looked up as her influence caused some of the rock she had just been on to crack, tumbling downward towards the pink lion.

I'm good with finishing. =D

The whole situation set him back on his mental haunches. He tended not to do what others asked of him because they were mocking him. Fogh realized that what she said might indeed be a bit true. It happened so often, that now he just assumed others would react a certain way without giving them a chance. Would they have reacted any different if he hadn't? Somehow he didn't believe so.

So then, what was the point?

"What's the point?" He repeated the question sourly. "I have a bad day either way." His bad day came raining towards him, only not in the way he expected. Fogh let out a yowl and a curse as the rocks fell onto his tail. He jumped up to pull his tail free cursing them all the while, not realizing that the cause of the rockfall had been right in front of him. After checking his tail to be sure no permanent damage had been done, he turned back to her.

"I'm not one who tends to do what others ask." He mocked her back about chilling out.

"Ah! Then I guess we've found our only similarity." She gave a mocking laugh and smile as she watched the aftermath of her influence.

"But, if you're that certain that there's nothing to be done about your sad life-" Kali could feel her nerves bristle in agitation; his defiance had been chipping away at her normally mischievous demeanor, turning it quite sour. "-why don't we just...ensure that it stays that way, shall we?" Her eyes narrowed and her ears slid back - she had spread her wings out perpendicular to her body and in full view. "From this day forward, there shall be a bane upon your life - your existence will now be filled with dangers and harm towards yourself, and you will never be able to escape them." Her tail swayed slowly behind her as she spoke - she rarely became agitated enough to curse someone. In fact, she couldn't immediately recall an instance in this lifetime.

"I guess that's the point, then?"

I wanted him cursed! Thank you! Fin?

Suddenly everything changed. The whole atmosphere of the world changed in his perception. She changed. Now he could feel the power of the goddess as she spread her wings. Fogh realized that perhaps he was in deep s**t now. He laid his ears back as her words sunk into him. A sense of doom hung over him. It pressed heavier and heavier upon him. With a wordless cry, he spun about and flung himself away. The impulse to run transmitted unthinkingly to his legs and he fled the goddess.
