“Are you okay?”
“I’m fine thanks, just out of breath.” Aseara gave the girl a short smile before going up the steps again. She’d started to be short of breath and was tiring easily recently. She told herself she was probably just stressed and tired from her new duties and it would pass. This was no time to be sick, Nuri was picking her up today and they were supposed to go house shopping together later on. She wanted to at least get a bit more work done before she went back down to meet up with him.
A little after lunch time, Aseara cleared up her desk, briefly visited Itotia before heading down to the kitchen to grab something quick to eat. The cook handed her a bowl of soup which Aseara immediately pushed away while making a face. Her stomach had turned just seeing and smelling it, apologizing she grabbed a fruit and went to wait for Nuri in the entrance of the Red. Even taking bites of the fruit were hard for her, it was making her nauseous. Perhaps she had caught something; she would have to ask for a doctor to visit once she was back home.
The Wind woman took a seat and took tiny bites of her fruit as she waited for Nuri.

Nuri was a bit late, mostly thanks to his family. He was arranging last minute details on the items he would take from his childhood home, as well as answering questions from his overbearing mother. It helped that his father was out of town, and his mother was keen to ensure that he was taking care of Aseara.
More like taking care of the family line.
It was surprising how quickly the woman warmed up to his wife, after seeing the energy, determination, and pure adaptation the Sautian had in Oba. Maybe it was the red colors, or maybe it was how much the two doted on each other, but his mother approved and was now doing her best to extend the family line.
It was exhausting.
Sure, Nuri and Aseara had spoken of children, had worked a bit to make it happen, but they only just had begun the process. Nuri wasn't the most alert person, but even he knew it could take years even to sire a child. Instead, he had to focus on finding a house to settle in. If a child happened, it would happen, but Nuri wasn't going to push it. They had all the time in the world.
As Nuri approached the entrance to the Red, he noticed Aseara sitting outside. She was back to looking her best, with her Oban colors and bright makeup, along with the hairstyles she favored. He made the mistake once to mention he liked it down, and never again. Aseara liked looking her best, but sometimes it was hard for her to persuade her that he also enjoyed her relaxed state as well.
"Aseara..." He called softly, as he moved forward to embrace her with no shame or second thought. As he pulled back, he glanced at her face, noticing a bit of a paleness to her cheeks, and softly asked, "Are you well? We can always postpone if you aren't feeling up to it..."

The Wind girl looked up and got up when she spotted Nuri. Every time she was around him she couldn’t stop smiling and she felt a little better in that moment. Aseara loved not having to hide their embraces or their kisses anymore, they were out in the open and she never wanted to go back to hiding.
“I’m fine…” Truthfully if they’d been doing some other activity se would have opted to perhaps stay in or something equally relaxing, but this was important. They couldn’t postpone house hunting and it needed to get done. “Let’s go.”
Aseara followed Nuri. She’d let him do the planning for this since he had a tad bit more free time than she did. Between his military duties and her Red ones, they’d barely been able to get anything done. If she didn’t go with him now, she feared they never move out together. The Wind girl wanted children and she wanted her kids to be raised in a single household with both parent present, so even if she wasn’t feeling all that well right now she was going to push herself to go out. In any case, it wasn’t like they we’re going to be seeing a bunch of houses, only a select few.
“How’s your mother and sister?” Aseara wrapped her arm around Nuri’s.

Uncertain, based on how she seemed a bit less than normal, Nuri blinked at her quick dismissal but didn't push it. He knew Aseara, and she was quite stubborn. Instead, he was fine just keeping his focus on her (as if he didn't already) and make sure that she didn't get any worse. It might just be stress and lack of sleep, after all, as she still was getting things settled. So, he nodded and led the way, content that the homes he had looked at weren't too far off.
The Red was in an area close to both the nobility and the well off, meaning they had quite a few options for homes that they could afford. It wouldn't be as high class as his childhood home, but he was perfectly fine with that. As long as they had something that wasn't stacked on top of each other, and had room to grow, he figured his income mixed with her own would be enough.
"My sister is still a bit independent from all of this, so she wasn't home. My mother, however, is just as overbearing as normal. Keeps pushing for grandchildren..." He rolled his eyes, but shared a soft smile as he shifted a bit so they were walking comfortably.
"Have things begun to settle?"

Aseara let out a chuckle, “she has been quite pushy about the children part hasn’t she?” His mother had a way of poking them with the child thing in the gentlest yet strongest way ever. That woman was smooth, she slide it into conversations without making it seem out of subject or random. Even though his mother was being pushy, they weren’t going to just jump right into bed all the time. Grandkids would come when they were ready and right now they most definitely needed a home before having children. Once that was done, Aseara was sure the kids would come without any pressure.
“They have, things are running a lot smoother now. Everyone is definitely enjoying the little pay increase.” Aseara had had to calculate the Red’s whole budget before being able to give back to the performers a little more money than Afsana had. It wasn’t much, but it was something and those who had decided to stay were quite content with the new administration. Aseara also wasn’t taking as much money for herself as Afsana was but she definitely was taking more than she’d been earning with clients which had also been quite the nice surprise for herself as well.
“Otherwise, those who left have been replaced. They’re doing quite well in training so I’m hoping new clients will pop up soon enough.” Another thing Aseara had changed was the entrance fee; middle class could now afford to come to the Red without having to worry if they’d have enough food next month. She’d had to smooth over a couple of nobles who hadn’t been too happy but she more or less hadn’t lost that many clients while she’d taken over thankfully.
“What about you? How is the army fairing?”

Another eye roll was telling enough. His mother was pushy, but that was better than the silence he expected when he told his family of the news. At least she was trying, even if she would sometimes purse her lips at Aseara. It was rare these days, but not unexpected all things considered. Nuri was glad they were at least on their own, so that his mother wouldn't be too overbearing to cause tension.
"I'm happy to hear that, having your performers happy will help in the long run."
He hummed lightly at her response, nodding and obviously happy that she was working everything out. Hopefully the next time they met, she wouldn't appear as worn down, if all things were going in the right direction.
"Every day new recruits come to learn how to tame the creatures, but finally the current ones are starting to go off on their own. With them doing self-training, it means I have more time to provide my research and help guide tamers to where they need to go. The army is pleased, and we've got quite the collection of riders and tamers who now know how to properly handle the familiars."
His voice held pride as he spoke, and he clearly saw a difference in the animals and the soldiers he led.

“Things are going really well for us aren’t they?” Aseara had never felt so content in her life. She had finally carved herself a spot in this world and it felt nice. “I wonder if they’ll promote you again since you’ve been doing such a wonderful job for them.” She’d never known Nuri to be overly ambitious, but he was most definitely dedicated and loved his work.
Actually, she hadn’t felt this happy since her parents had died. It had taken a long time to reach this point but it was all worth the trouble. Thankfully, that was an event that she no longer looked back on with pain or grief. As they walked along the wind woman couldn’t help but think that coming to Oba, even with all of its difficulties, had been the best choice in her life. There were still plenty of other wonderful things that were in store, but right now at this point there was nothing that could beat the fuzzy feeling she was feeling inside.
“So what are today’s plans? How many homes are we visiting?” The heat was bothering her a bit more than usual and she was hoping they’d reach the first home soon. She didn’t want to worry Nuri though, so she would endure a little longer.

Nuri nodded, and took a moment to drop her arm and wrap his own around her shoulders to bring her close.
"I'm not sure if I want any more promotions. But I guess we will see, right now I've got a lot of work to get everyone up to speed on the foreign creatures."
Of course, if he were a general, he wouldn't need to worry much about traveling except for wars, but Nuri was quite content being a captain. He knew of others who had greater aspirations than he.
"Just ahead is a house, I think it has everything we want and the price is reasonable..."
Hopefully, they could find the house and finally, finally, settle in. It would be nice to have a place to call their own.

“True, though I hope they won’t be sending you off gods know where gain.” At this point she was used to him leaving, but she’d been busy with all the drama and happenings in the Red. Now, she’d be alone in the house and the thought was not a pleasant one for her. She didn’t mind a couple of months, but a whole year or more were long periods she didn’t want to be without Nuri by her side anymore. If they did bring children into this world, she wanted them to grow up with both parents, not just one.
“Oh, that’s good,” she was hoping that there would be something to drink to help cool her down and she’d get this nausea out of the way. “How many homes are we visiting today?” They’d hired a woman to find homes for them, all the nobles had one and while they weren’t exactly going for a hoe that had the extravagance of a really wealthy family, they still were going to find a home that probably most couldn’t afford. “That’s good; I want to get this house hunting out of the way and just live together!” Aseara chuckled.

"Gods have mercy, I hope we focus on ourselves and not the needs of the rest of Tendaji..."
It was still a bit of a rough thought for him, the fact he was required to travel to take care of a war they had no part of. He didn't want to support them, felt that Oba needed to focus inward and strengthen their defenses instead of rush to the aid of those who were once their enemies. Unfortunately, orders were orders and he really had no reason to step forth and question them.
"Just one...I think I may have placed all my eggs in one basket for this one..." Plus, he thought, they would have time to spend with each other once they finished looking at the house.
As they rounded the corner, he chuckled at her words before looking in the area. It was the lower of the upper class, not quite the level of stacked upon houses, but not as large or roomy as his own mansion of a home. It was enough for a family, with a small yard and privacy.
"Here we are..."

Aseara got on her tippy toes and gave Nuri a quick kiss on the cheek. “I hope so too.” Nuri had a point, Oba was getting involved in all sorts of different conflicts when they should be looking inward and trying to strengthen themselves. Hopefully though, the days of war were long gone for Tendaji since the Banished were officially gone. Aseara couldn’t possibly see what more troubles could arise if everyone was officially at peace with each other. The wind woman would knock on wood however, just to make sure she wasn’t bringing some bad juju.
“Oh really?” Nuri had spiked her curiosity now; she was looking forward to seeing this home.
Once they’d arrived in front of the home, Aseara paused and tilted her head. The home didn’t look cramped; the exterior was in good condition too. “Oh, this doesn’t look so bad!” It was a good start. “Shall we go in? Is that woman waiting for us inside?” Yes finally, some shade and hopefully something to drink! Aseara moved forward to get to the door; she was feeling a little more tired now too. She was really going to have to see a doctor soon she didn’t want Nuri or anyone in the Red getting sick because she was.

As always, his cheek warmed at her show of affection, and his eyes followed her as she leaned back before snapping away. Even after everything, being married and all, he still felt shy and bashful with her affections, at least in public. It was by no means a sign of shame, but simply a sign of how much she impacted him, and how he sometimes struggled to show the same in return. Taking a deep breath and focused on their task ahead.
"She should be...she's older and is looking to move out of the city, so she is interested in a quick sell if possible..."
He didn't bother asking her backstory, but she seemed keen to just get the house in capable hands so she could leave the large city for a smaller, quieter one. Darting ahead slightly, he moved to open the door for her, gesturing for her to enter as the older woman raced to greet them both.
"Taria, good to see you again. This is Aseara..." Thankfully, he had warned the Oban of his non-Oban wife, and there was no surprise in the woman's eyes as she looked Aseara over and grinned wider.
"Yes, welcome! Shall we begin the tour?"
"That would be preferable..." Nuri responded quickly, his arm held for Aseara to grip it if she so desired as he moved further inside the home.

“Oh, then perhaps this is the one indeed.” If she was quick to give up her home then all the better for them, it would allow ample time for them to get their things in order and finally move as quickly as possible.
Aseara followed after Nuri as she scrutinized the exterior of the home a little the closer she got. She wanted to know how close the neighbors were and how much land they had to work with even in the front yard. She cherished her privacy much more now that she was house hunting and she didn’t want to have to deal with any nosy neighbors.
“It’s nice to meet you Taria,” the wind woman gave her a small smile before entering. She gave out a little sigh, thanking the gods for the shade before turning to Nuri and grabbing a gentle hold on his arm. “Would it be possible if we could get something to drink? I hate to admit I’m a little dehydrated.”
“Oh of course! Just hold still,” in a whoosh the woman had disappeared down a hallway only to return a few minutes later with some kind of juice. “I hope this will do, fresh from this morning!”
Aseara thanked her and took the drink, it felt cool in her hands which was nice and so she gulped it down. It didn’t take long however, from Aseara to grip her stomach and feel it churning. She was going to be sick.
“I’m going to be sick,” she handed the glass back to the woman who said something Aseara didn’t quite understand as her hand went up to her mouth. Quickly so Aseara wasn’t sick on the floor; the woman dragged her to the bathroom and left her alone. Aseara was sick, her stomach making sure there was nothing left within it. When the wind woman stopped being sick the Oban gently knocked and asked if she was okay.
“Is my husband out there?” She didn’t want Nuri to see her like this, but she still wasn’t feeling very well and needed help getting back up.

As Aseara requested for a drink, Nuri's keen eyes looked her over again, slowly taking in her appearance in an effort to see if something was wrong. Normally, he wouldn't question such a request, but for some reason she seemed a bit off and he felt a bit obligated to ensure she was alright. So, he simply stuck close to her and smiled at the woman when a drink was returned, allowing Aseara to take it and waving off the offer for one of his own.
It wasn't until the exclamation of her becoming sick that Nuri's eyes widened and he moved to take the glass from the woman as soon as it was handed off. Both women moved to the restroom as Nuri sniffed at the glass, following closely but ensuring that nothing was in the liquid and whispering to the woman. He sipped it, but tasted nothing off, and shook his head at the concern the woman had that something was wrong.
"I doubt it was the drink..." He soothed with some distraction, keeping an ear to the door before nodding when the woman offered to check his wife. As Aseara requested him, Nuri quickly moved forward to her side, brushing her bangs away from her head and looking her over with sharp glances.
"You should have warned me that you weren't feeling well..." He weakly stated, moving his hand to her cheek and leaning slightly closer, "Say the word and I'll get you back to the Red."

“I really wanted to do this,” Aseara said giving him a tiny smile. “I didn’t think I was this sick. I’ve been feeling tired and nauseous; I thought it was just stress.” Aseara finally pulled herself together, fixing her hair and clothing before getting up again on her own two feet with Nuri’s help. She would have kissed him but she didn’t think he’d want to be anywhere that close to her in this moment.
“I’m sorry; I seem to have over heard that you haven’t been feeling well lately. Have you two perhaps…” And here the woman looked from Aseara to Nuri trying to find the correct words. “Been trying to have children? Those are pregnancy symptoms and I am pretty sure you are pregnant.” The woman retreated a little, feeling a bit invasive. “Congratulations.”
Aseara stared at her long and hard before turning to Nuri as her eyes grew wide. Pregnant? Her hand went to her stomach immediately, could she be? She couldn’t ask her mother since she didn’t have one… Though the symptoms did resemble some that she had seen pregnant girls at the Red have. That’s usually how Afsana sniffed most of them out.
“I think I’m pregnant,” the wind woman finally said to Nuri as if it was the craziest thing she’d ever said. “Babies.” It was a little shocking, especially considering they weren’t ready for a child yet. “You’re going to be a father.” Aseara chuckled softly, still not sure if this whole experience was real or not.
