xKae had left Zira in the room to finish up a few projects, but had her focusing on the new inhibitor for Hexxis, making that a priority for the moment. Walking carefully along the wall to avoid running into people, she had her human disguise as she walked with her attention buried into her phone. Kae had made very slight adjustments to her appearance, such as her eyes would begin to show more flecks of gold to appear more like she was Mara's blood sister to keep with the fake identity she had created. She was typing codes and notes as well as reviewing a few files she had pulled up from her laptop. She had been asked to come see Mara and she was more than happy to oblige to the request. Rounding the last corner she stood at the door, typing something into her phone before turning off the screen and putting it into her pocket. Ah, Mara's room. She knocked on the door. "It's Kae." she called through the door simply and waited for an answer before she would enter.

Mara rubbed her neck at the mild pain there as she stared at the ceiling thinking, frowning as new memories kept being uncovered as her mind turned to other things. At the sound of the knock she let out a soft breath and sat up, looking around the room with a frown as she tried to see if there was anything out of place before going to open the door.
It had taken her actually a few hours deciding if she wanted to do this meeting in her office or in her room. More formal or informal? A few days ago it wouldn't have even been a question but now after what had recently happened, the help she and Zira had provided and the fact she had been passing herself off as her sister ... informal was the better option. Only because she wasn't sure she even disapproved of anything... everyone was alive...and she had a feeling that wouldn't have been true if she hasn't been there. To many things have happened for them to be complete strangers, even if they still were...it was time to finally address their goal and purposes.
Opening the door she glanced at Kae's face closely and opened the door wider, waving her in. "Come in..." she let go of the door and moved toward the table that was surprisingly clear of papers and held a box of cookies, a cup of coffee from the shop in the center, a kettle of hot water, and an empty cup with two or three packets of different teas that she raided from the break room. "Sorry with the timing, I hope I didn't interfere with something you were working on?" she said mildly, tired and well... concern of they might talk about. "I thought it was time we finally talk...time which we has not had much of in the past two or three weeks" she said quietly, watching her and waited.

xKae gave a slight nod to Mara as she opened the door and asked her to come in. As she entered, she waited for Mara to close the door before dropping her disguise, her eyes fading back into red and her ears slowly appearing to their normal long slender shape. She adjust her glasses slightly then followed Mara to the table. "No interference. I was merely working on the inhibitor for Hexxis, which Zira has taken over for the time per my instructions. Other than that, I'm usually fairly bored. So this comes at a good time." Kae motioned to the tea on the table as if non-verbally asking if it was okay to partake, her movement graceful as she didn't break eye contact with Mara. "Well, things have been quite eventful lately... so it can't be helped that time has escaped us. However, I agree it is time we finally talked." she agreed calmly.

Mara nodded and waved to the table as she kept eye contact with Kea, not flinching as the brown with gold flakes turned to bright red. "Feel free " she said finally breaking eye contact but there was not fear as she moved to take the cup of coffee while Kae did as she wished. "Yes..." She sigh moving to take a seat, a flicker of memory came to mind of a similiar setting but with Kage. She narrowed her eyes in anger and put the cup down getting up.
"Stupid memories " stopped and thought about that for a moment and just shook her head. "Never mind. Still getting things popping up now and then. Let get down to buisness down " she said raising her head to slide her thumb and for finger down her nose while keeping her eyes closed. " Not to sound ungrateful but why have you continued to stay? "

Kae moved to take a cup, choosing to make tea for herself, then move to Mara and sat across from her. She set the cup down to waited for it to steep before drinking it. "It seems you are feeling more like yourself now..." she commented off-handedly. Kae watched as Mara stood up again. Straight to business, as usual. Why have you continued to stay? Kae smirked faintly, readjusted her glasses slightly before answering. "Ah, straight to the point of it all. Alright. I had originally come here to check on Hexxis and her condition here. You seemed to have a few intriguing problems and a certain need for collars over this time. As I have obliged in making them. Most unneeded after recent events, but more or less, Hexxis' inhibitor is still the last thing on my list of things to do here, as agreed. After that, I had intentions of moving on." she explained, then picked up her cup to drink from it. As she pulled the cup away from her lips, she narrowed her eyes. "However... I have found a new reason to stay even after Hexxis' inhibitor is finished." she closed her eyes for a moment, setting the cup back down on the table. As she opened her eyes, she focused on Mara with a serious look. "Melody." she stated simply. Kae could only assume that Mara knew, it was as plain as the markings on her face that Melody was Rasiel's child, and by extension, her grandchild. She watched Mara's face, waiting to see what Mara had to say about it, whether she even knew. No, it was obvious. To not know would to be purposefully ignorant of the situation.

"Melody" she repeated then nodded, trying to push down the anger that came up at the mention of the collars. Those would not have been wasted time on Kae's part had she accepted the collar for Kage...even if it went contrary to her purpose of opening the division for metas.
Looking at her closely she finally just shook her head. "You already know or guess didn't you? " she said lifting her hand to brush a bang of hair of out her face."Well, it is confirmed. I ran Melody's blood when we had her checked out ..and going off a popular theory in Sanctuary ...I used the markers we had run from Rasiel's blood of a crime scene. It was a good match...even without any DNA evidence for the second parent " she sigh softly, remembering her promise to Melody and Zaku's evasive statement. "Since you are her grandmother ....I wanted to know if you wanted her or if you will be leaving her with Hexxis" there was a frown as she moved to her bed and pulled out the reports before moving back and placing them on the table.

Kae nodded along with Mara as she repeated the name. "It's a little obvious isn't it..." she commented in return then listened to Mara explain Melody's DNA being a match. She figured as much, she would have eventually had solidified proof herself with enough time, but here Mara had already provided it under that same assumptions. Kae shifted uneasily with the mention of Rasiel's blood at a crime scene. She hardly liked to think about him and the things he had been doing. However, if Rasiel had a daughter along the way then she felt partially responsible, though it struck her as weird but then again, the person who became Rasiel the Killer was nothing but a stranger to her, barely related by name only now. Mara then offered to Kae if she wanted to take Melody or leave her there. She sighed and thought for a moment, "I suppose I'd rather know how she felt. If she feels comfortable being here and wants to stay, then I'll allow it, and I will even stay here with her if permitted to. However, if she would like to leave, then I will take her and I'll find some place to settle down and keep her safe." Kae placed a hand on her head for a moment. "I can't keep making the same mistake again,... so I'll let her choose her own life."

"It's not obvious unless you lived with the guy or been staring at his wanted poster for the past few years " she sigh taking another sip of coffee as she listened and nodded. "She wants to stay. I told her what I knew of her father and some of her friends and she said she wants to make things better. That is until you came along.Now she has another option. She is a kid.... So are the other two. I really didn't want or expect to start recruiting children but if they want to join us I won't turn them away. Which means ...do you want to risk her possibly dying? Because that has been pretty clear that at some point we're going to run out of luck and lose someone permanently. " she said looking at Kae closely. "Think about that when you ask her. As for Hexxis....I don't know your stance on her? You transferred her into my care ...Tri adopted her. If you want to take her back ....that might be problematic but we could still likely make a deal " she sighed.

Kae sighed and stared down at the tea in the cup, thinking for more than a moment. "It's a difficult decision to make.. one I've had to make twice before and both times already ended in death... " she closed her eyes, just trying to sort through her thoughts, trying to decide. On both occasions before, she chose a life against their wishes and it never ended well. This time, she felt like maybe she could make the right decision. Sighing once more she opened her eyes and nodded. "I'm aware of the danger she'd be in here... just as much as I'm aware of the danger out there. She doesn't have the luxury of being an unknown. That marking on her face has branded her and she will never be able to hide from that. On the other hand, I realize that it's very likely there will be eventual losses. But as long as she's happy, who am I to take her from that. That's why if she decides to stay, then so will I. I can't just walk away from her.. not like my-... Rasiel, seems to have." she took up the cup and sipped from it once more. She then raised an eyebrow at Mara, "I never had intentions of removing Hexxis from SIU... Especially so, now that Tri has taken favor to her. Hexxis seems happy here as well so why mess with that. I have no right to break up a family, do I..." Kae then paused for a moment. "Who is the third child, you mentioned two others besides Melody. And yet I have only seen two children here at the base."

"There are ways to hide the marking...surgeries, laser treatments etc to get rid of what it is..unless it is deeper than skin " she said giving the option, not knowing if they considered it before. "But as you said, it is up to her. I won't turn her away if she wants to stay....or even you " she said with a curious look, Kae and Zira would be very valuable help, Tri already spoke of Zira's usefulness added with Kae's expertise ....if she was even intrested in helping some of their own researchers ...or maybe she was dreaming again. Step by step.
" Leukros, that is the third child. Zira mentioned that he is Lucien's son. Seems very taken with both Hexxis and melody, hates his father also going from Zira. He was our other target when Ree spotted them at the sanctuary ...currently he has also shown inclination of joining where ever Melody and Hexxis are...and is currently helping us keep Ashral calm. "she said calmly but faintly disturbed.
"The other question.....if Melody does stay and you stay with her. What do you want to do? We have some projects that might intrest you....unless you have something else to offer? "

Kae seemed a little displeased by the idea of altering the way Melody looked but ultimately accepted it as a possibility. It was a bit of a relief that Mara would not turn down Melody if she wished to stay, and furthermore her. At least Melody would have the options available to her now rather than being forced into a decision she didn't want. As Mara then spoke of the third child, she seemed intrigued and slightly confused. So her grandson Lucian had actually managed to get close to someone else long enough to have an egg. How interesting it was, though the notion he hated Lucian struck her as also odd but not surprising in the least. Helping us keep Ashral calm. Kae thought for a moment, "How so?" she inquired. How was a boy keeping such a dangerous Malice calm. The idea itself was certainly perplexing on its own.
Mara questioned what she would do if she did decide to stay. That would probably be the hardest decision she'd have to make, and more so was glad that Mara hadn't turned her over to the more relentless parts of the facility knowing that if there was anything to learned about Metas, she would know it being their creator and all. Kae sighed, "Foremost, I'm a genetic scientist. It's what led to creating Metas as a whole. But if there is other project you direly need help with, I can lend other scientific expertise to that. Naturally, I'm a little reluctant to give away everything I know about Metas... it's a hard decision to make to ever give all that up to someone. However, if the cause is.. I suppose, noble, I'd feel much more willing. Otherwise, I've made inhibitor collars, I can create different kinds of inventions electronic and organic, and I can analyze genetic data and determine quite a bit about metas based on those genetic compositions."

"Again...going by Zira" this time she had a perplexed smile, relying so much on someone who was not one of her own people..yet. "Seems he has the power to calm spirits. The fact Ashral has not stabbed him or even attempted to hurt him has show there is at least something going on " she was not about to say if she believed or didn't believe in spirits, manes and malices really pushed it toward the yes but she didn't want to think was else could be out there. " it was also noted that she only became agitated when he fell asleep....which seems to have been for less than a hand full of minutes since he came in " now that made her guilty, she even had coffee sent over to the kid but until Hexxis "woke up" she had no idea what to do.
Turning her attention on the possibilities of where Kae might be willing to help...she almost salivated at the prospect of having that much more information at her fingertips if Kae was willing. However.... "We have no sentient living specimens in this facility.. Actually we are one of the few who do not deal in metas directly at all..until now. And this is mostly as a side project of integrating a few of them into the ranks....one I am sad to say I started with noble intentions and keep being advised to take less than noble paths" she frown, with Kae there they would even have more information than any research facility currently had...it would also be trouble if they knew.
'Against my own better judgement, I suggest not ....offering your knowledge so readily to anyone besides me while in this facility. " she said quietly, hoping she understood the reason why without her needing to explain more. "There is one project...if you were willing, where we need some serious help. truth be told were stuck on it. " she tapped the edge of her cup. "except I am not sure how horrified you might be. We are trying to find less horrible ways to imitate the power of true races.. Using electronics and more simple cell organisms. " it was a first step... One that could eventually be used to copy even meta powers.. But you had to start small.. Not ambitious like a multitude of the labs that seem to be funded by power-hungry millionaires.

Kae narrowed her eyes in thought, looking away as she began to piece a few things together. If this kid was with Melody at the sanctuary and he had such an ability, one she had noted in a file she had looked over from the one and only Spectrum research. So that meant Melody and Leukos were the two children involved in Rhun and Mirabelle's research on manes and malices. Very interesting indeed. Kae made a mental note of that as she paused back in the conversation to realize what Mara was saying about Ashral. "Why is Ashral still awake?" she shook her head, then chose a different question, "Do you know how long she'll stay in control of Hexxis?" she asked, her face becoming serious, "It's not... permanently... is it?"
She listened to Mara explain how they were the only division to deal with Metas directly. Ah, well that made things a little easier in keeping secret her connection with Metas as a whole. Kae understood the implications and warning given by Mara, one she would most definitely heed. Without answering, she simply nodded. There is one project. Kae looked to Mara with curiosity that quickly faded to an unreadable stern expression as it fell on the recreation of true race powers. It was a bit unsettling as the mention of using less horrible ways, having a really good feeling what that meant. Thinking it over for a moment, her face never changing, she drank the rest of the tea in the cup and set it down. "I can do that." she answered bluntly with no further explanation.

Mara watched her closely, knowing the irony was thick with of the offer she just gave to a non-human ...to an elf...to the mother of metas . But they were desperate, this was the same technology that powered their armor and the only thing that they could currently be used against dangerous metas like the renegade or even malices head on. Making even a similiar type of item for the metas in their group ...items that could be used in the field or even cells to contain them without only relaying on a collar.
They might eventually make the breakthroughs needed but if Kae wished to help it would be years faster ....if she wished to help. She wasn't sure she would if she was in the same position, and also knowing that when the person in charge died in her short life span that someone with less savory views won't start abusing it. Something...for another day. "I will have the information sent to your room . You can decide if you wish to work on it or not after you seen it " she said quietly, her eyes solemn as she watched Kae.
"As for Ashral ... " this time there was a hint of confusion. "As far as I have seen and heard. "This time she was not going to say Zira said... "She is the only one keeping Hexxis alive and she doesn't -look- to be happy being in control. She has mention waiting for Hexxis to "wake up" and take over again. Considering Ree has taken the excess injuries, there should be no physical reason she shouldn't have woken up...but healing, wound transferring and coming back from the dead with help from our enemies she raised her hand to her head at that. Stupid Renegades...stupid Zaku, it was likely only because of the parley that they did was they did, but having it put over her head at the meeting was going to be bad ...still she was grateful if only for Tri's sake. Until Hexxis was back in control she was not allowing him to get near Ashral.
" We currently have no idea what is going on inside of her. With Ashral in control I don't want to let any of my people even attempt working on her " She shook her head, it wasn't as if they didn't want to check on Hexxis, she could have brain damage or even something else that was not healed but with Ashral in control that was just not possible.
"Aslo, similiar to Leukros, she hasn't slept either. So we are currently in a wait and see situation " a dangerous plan, she always had one of her teammates on guard but things have been calm for the moment. It wouldn't be long until one of them fell asleep, willingly or not.

Kae reflexively pulled out her phone and began to make a few notes. "Please forgive me, but this is actually new to me. This scenario of a Malice supposedly bringing a host back from the dead. Such extremes just to keep a host alive." she spoke as she typed, the topic being something that obviously interested her deeply. "If there is a dire need to check up on Hexxis, I'm sure Zira would be more than capable of handling that just as she had offered to do so when we would exchange her inhibitor to the new one." after a few more notes, she put her phone down. "Lately, my research has been focused on manes and malices... then again, who isn't focused on that. Most people want to learn more as a precaution to what could be brought on by them.... I only see more possibilities." she shook her head slightly of the thought. "So his power over her only works as long as he stays awake... interesting. Has Ashral noticed this effect on her?" she inquired with a face full of intrigue. "My apologies for getting so... excited.. about all this. It's a fairly dangerous situation and here I am chatting about it like it's Sunday brunch..." she sighed and then paused. "About that project... if it's anything like I'm assuming it is... I at least want to know it is definitely only going to be used in defense. I don't need more of a guilty conscience helping someone get a leg up in starting another war. I already experienced one, I'd rather not relive any of that again." her eyes were piercing with a certain seriousness that really spoke volumes about her views to still remain, in a sense, neutral despite the discussion to join SIU entirely.
