Lieutenant Tourmaline was in a mood that evening. Things at home were strained at best since she'd been forced to leave the extended stay suite she'd been renting. Her mother wanted to know where she'd been, who she'd been with, how she'd gotten the money to be there. The new paint job on her bike had stirred up even more problems. Kitty, baby, you're not doing anything illegal, are you? Her father hadn't made things any better. Sellin' drugs. Takes after your side of the family, Mae. Nothin' but ********' trouble.
She let out a frustrated huff, kicking a metal can in the alleyway she'd found her way to. The sudden sound sent a stray skittering out of its hiding place, hissing before bolting down the asphalt. A small part of her felt guilty for scaring the animal away from where it likely had been looking for food. The rest of her couldn't care less.
If she kept going at the pace she'd set for the evening she was going to get herself in trouble. She'd pick a fight with the wrong person and as tempting as it was to do just that she couldn't risk taking any serious injuries. There was no way she or her family could afford that-- And besides, what if Metallia called them? She had to be ready to fight for what was right alongside her new family; alongside the pack.
Tourmaline pulled out her com crystal, fiddling with it for a moment before sending a message out to Lieutenant Aluminite. I need a distraction, Wonderboy. Meet me on Fifth and Lane. Boxing gloves might not be a bad idea to bring along.

Idle energy, that was how Aluminite explained what he was doing on the streets after the dark of night had blanketed itself over the city. There'd been a lot of that for him lately, especially since he'd started going through his old journals, looking for the notes he knew he'd written.
He just needed to find them.
Somewhere, there was a link scrawled down to the blog he'd set up in hopes of finding a sense of closure after space things. He needed to find it but -
His head hurt whenever he thought too much about it, like there so, when he received the message from Tourmaline he was grateful for the distraction. I'll be there, he replied almost immediately, letting his long legs carry him the distance with a surprising amount of easy. He had to admit, for all the anxiousness it caused him, being powered had too many benefits.
He beat her there, but he could feel her approaching presence, or assumed it was her. Relief washed over him and he grinned fondly at her. "I know you're having a bad night, but I'm glad to see you."

She wanted to smile. Tourmaline tried to, at least, and it came out more like an awkward grimace than an actual smile. She then closed her eyes, taking a deep breath and releasing it into a slow sigh. It wasn't working to calm her down any... Her fingers were still clenched and her heart was still racing. She still very much wanted to lash out at things. "Fight me." Well, that wasn't what she had intended to say, but the words had definitely come out and now that they'd been said she didn't think it was a bad idea. It would be better than finding a senshi or a knight to pick a fight with when she wasn't in the right state of mind to be conducting herself. It was better than calling General Labyrinthite and asking him to knock her around in a training session. Aluminite cared for her-- Not to say that her General didn't, but the other Lieutenant wouldn't actually hurt her if they were sparring, right? And that was what she needed.

Fight me, she said and Aluminite visibly recoiled, brows arching and mouth hanging open in surprise.
"I'm sorry - what?"
He'd been expecting a hug or even a kiss but he hadn't been expecting her to ask him to fight her. "Kit - what's wrong?" He tried even if he had the sinking feeling that she really, really didn't want to talk about it.
Sparring it out could be good but -
He'd never cared for combat. Still, Tourmaline looked like she had energy to burn and Aluminite knew he was going to give. "Okay, but after you have to tell me why."

"We can do whatever you want after, Wonderboy-- And I don't want you going easy on me just because you think I might break, alright?" She shifted on her feet, fingers flexing against the worn pleather of her fingerless gloves. "I know... I know you won't hurt me, but I need to blow some steam or I'm going to explore-- Or do something stupid. I could have called the big guy, but I called you instead." Please. Her eyes met his briefly and she hoped that he would give in, just this once, instead of trying to talk her down out of it. "Show me what you've got, handsome."

He still didn't think it was a good idea and the thought that she might've gone to Labyrinthite instead of him - it made him angry. A low simmering anger that only showed in the way he clenched his fists and set his jaw.
"Fine," he hissed stepping forward and standing tall, straight, with his fists raised. There was a sharp intake of breath as he looked at her, a spilt second of hesitation that flared within him.
He didn't want to spar, but he was going to.
He slid forward, faked a punch to her face when thrown a real second punch towards her gut.

Something that she'd said had gotten to him and if he was going to make her talk once this was over she was going to needle him about that too. Anger looked good on him; the firm set of determination and the gleam in his eyes right before he moved to strike... Tourmaline mistook the fake punch for the real one, dodging slightly to the side only to leave her midsection exposed. She grunted, letting out a small, startled noise before shifting her weight to throw herself at him, aiming her shoulder at his chest.

Feints seemed to work for him, evidenced by the way Tourmaline took a punch to the gut and he had to grit his teeth to keep his mouth shut from checking on her. If Labyrinthite had been there, he would've taken it as a sign of weakness, that Aluminite cared too much about his opponents.
Their general was not there but -
He had to treat Tourmaline like he was fighting Domeykite, or that red-haired lieutenant that he never saw again. Otherwise he'd be too soft and she'd get mad at him for it.
He only had a second to suck in a deep breath when he shoulder was colliding into his chest. He grunted, reacting quickly with one hand grabbing at her shoulder and the other her waist in an attempt to twist her, maybe even toss her into the ground.

He caught her around the waist and she let out a frustrated sound, half expecting him to try and hold her there; to keep her still and make her talk. She hated that she would have let him and that made her try to yank away all the harder, gasping as her pull coincided with his twist and she went tumbling to the ground. Tourmaline skidded across the pavement, runs forming as pebbles tore at leggings that did little to protect her from the road rash. Her head was reeling and she wanted to lash out at him in return; drag him down to her level and keep him there. Could she really do that to him, though? No. Wonderboy was too bright for the Underworld. She pushed herself up, dusting her palms off on her thighs before casting a glance his way. "Come at me again. Show me how you did that," her tone had changed, more inquisitive than sharp as her focus shifted. She couldn't be mindless when it came to spars. If she was going to fight against someone on her own side, on her own team, she had to learn.

Aluminite watched in anticipation as his - she wasn't his girlfriend not yet so what was he supposed to call her? - teammate went skidding across the surface, trying not to wince. He braced himself, preparing for her counterattack and instead he got a request and confusion flickered across his face.
"Okay," he agreed, sliding into her space, fingers gesturing for her to attack him as she had before. "You get reckless in your rage," he said first, biting his bottom lip before his left hand reached for her left shoulder, right hand going for her waist like before. "Using your momentum from your attack - " he demonstrated by shifting her body like he was going to throw her again.
"By forcing you in one direction and lifting you slightly it's easier to throw you." It helped that she was smaller than he was. "It works better for me than you, since I have more mass but - magical strength helps too."

Their movements this time were slow; more choreographed as he explained things to her, shifting their weight together as they went through the steps. When he bit his lip she wanted to kiss him. When he shifted her she realized how distracted she was. Again. "Strength and mass won't always get you out of a tough situation, Wonderboy." Tourmaline leaned against him for a moment before shifting back just enough to quickly sweep a foot out, tripping him up and knocking his feet out from under him. She seemed quite satisfied with the lesson she was able to teach in return until the afterthought kicked in that his arm was still around her and as he went down she went down. It was much like their first meeting, only this time she was sprawled out atop him instead of vice versa, landing on his chest with an 'ooof'. She lay there dazed for a moment before shifting slightly, smirk on her lips. "Pinned ya."

"They don't - " he agreed, getting cut off when she swept him off his feet, literally. Instinctively his grip on her tightened and they both went down, with him hitting his back hard against the concrete and her landing on top of him. A grunt left him, eyes squeeze shut, and chest heavy when the air was knocked out of his lungs.
His eyes didn't open until she spoke and then - all he could focus on was her mouth. And her weight on his, he liked it though - he'd never admit it. Not if he wanted to avoid being a sleazy mcsleazer.
"Yeah, well I don't mind," he did mumble, adjusting his hands so they gripped her upper arms and then he leaned up, craned his neck and kissed her hard.

"Go-- Mm..." His lips kept any words from passing hers, a soft sound of satisfaction muffled against his mouth instead. One hand fell to rest on his chest while the other braced against the road beneath them, supporting her weight atop him. This was a much better way to end the night and while it wouldn't work for spars against other teammates or Order agents, it was perfect for them. Tourmaline pressed back against the kiss as she leaned in. She kissed him just as hard for a moment before her lips went soft, parting slightly as she pulled back just enough to take a breath.

It was easy to sink into the kiss, to smile into it when she pushed back, with her fingers splayed against his chest. It was easy to want to keep kissing her, but the ground wasn't exactly comfortable beneath his back with pebbles digging into it.
So, he pushed back, coaxed her up when she paused for breath. He kissed her again, hands sliding down to her waist, thumbs pressing against her hipbones. This time, when he pulled away he pressed his forehead against hers, chest rising and falling and eyes half-lidded.
"Gonna tell me what got under your skin Kit?"

Tourmaline brought one hand up, lightly brushing her fingers through his hair to tousle it as their foreheads touched. Her own eyes were closed and for a moment she hoped things could just stay that way; nice and soft and distracted... No such luck. Her hand slid back down to rest on his chest again, fingers idly toying with one of the tassels that strongly resembled a starseed. "Had to check back in with my parents before my mother filed a missing person's. She's worried," the emphasis she put on the word said that it was just a dressed up attempt at trying to make it look like she was trying to take an active roll in her daughter's life. "Da thinks I'm dealing drugs. Doubt he would've believed me if I told him my rich friend is the reason why my bike's got a new coat of paint." Tourmaline sighed, leaning in against him. "Just needed to get out-- Didn't mean to worry you," she murmured, voice soft.
