Name: Natalil
Stage: Prentice
Race: Matori
Eventual Class: Dancer
Gender: Female
Special: Blind (With Kana's permission)
Base Traits: Aloof, caring, poetic, hopeful
Personality: A naturally kind hearted girl, Natalil has had her heart grow guarded due to her years under Oban slavery. She is an exceptionally guarded young woman, believing it's better to keep her emotions locked away to better protect a fragile heart that has already suffered tremendously. Because of this, she often comes across as distant and cold, almost uncaring to the plight of others. While not cruel or rude or even mean to others, she often appears to not want put forth the effort to make friends or companions, or appears that she would much rather be alone than among others.
However, this could not be further from the truth. While she feels deeply for the pain of others due to her own history, she constantly hides her desire to help, afraid that it will be exploitated by those around her. While she wants to trust in others and have faith in them, she has great difficultly allowing herself to grow close to anybody.
All of this time alone has made Natalil find entertainment elsewhere. She directs most of her energy into creative works, mainly her dance. Freedom of movement and the ability to express herself as she wants is something she treasures most of all. She also tends to have a very poetic, whimsical way of speaking when she does talk to others, inspired by spending a little too much time daydreaming as a child. Her dreamy speech paired with her cold exterior can be quite confusing.
Despite everything, Natalil is a very hopeful person. She wants to one day repair her relationship with her people and to find the ability to grow close to them once more. She still has hope that the goodness in people is more prevalent than the bad, and she wants to truly make herself believe that again. As such, she regards everyone she meets as a clean slate, no matter if they are Oban or Alki or anything else (assuming they tell her what they are.) While she is initially more distrustful around Fire Earthlings, she won't be rude to them. Her hope is guarded and not easy to see, but it is one of the most driving aspects of her and influences her every action.
Description: Skin Color: Her main skin color is more on the darker side, as is her underbelly. Her speckles are very bright in color and pop against her darker skin.
Eye Color: Very, very pale, partially due to her blindness.
Hair: Very long, curly hair. Like what one thinks of when they think mermaid hair, pretty much.

History: Born an Oban slave, Natalil most certainly didn't have an easy childhood. While her mother did all she could to shield her daughter from the harshness of their life, there was only so much that could be done. This was made worse as she had exceptionally weak eye sight as a child that would only grow worse over time, eventually leading her to becoming almost completely blind. Her mother tried her best to cover up this weakness as to not make her a target.
As a child, Natalil went out of her way to help any of her people who needed it. However, this had a tendency to get her in more trouble than not. During her younger years, she often found herself daydreaming of what life would be like in various different situations. She retreated into these daydreams to help distract herself from her everyday life, and they inspired her to take on a rather poetic, dreamy manner of speech. If the heroes in her daydreams could be grand and eloquent and whimsical, why couldn't she?
The repeated bad experiences after trying to help others started to make the young girl a much more jaded person, and she withdrew further and further into herself, until eventually she practically refused to talk to anybody but her mother. She instead focused on skills she could grow in what privacy she could find, mostly dancing. It was one of the things that let her feel free and not restricted by her blindness, and it became the most precious thing in the world to her.
After the Matori were freed from slavery, Natalil was left completely unsure of what to do with herself. She felt like she needed to stay in Matori as that's where her people where. However, she had grown so distant from them, she wasn't sure how to even begin repairing the relationship she had with others of her kind. As much as she wanted to stay near her mother, Natalil decided that she would begin to slowly start venturing out in the world. Her childhood had been filled with dreams of grand adventures, and she refused to let anything stop her from making those dreams come true. She still mostly stays close to her people, afraid to go much further from the area she knows, but she longs to go further.
