Algie seemed to remember Sunny being adamant about having a phone so he stared at his cell phone and typed out a text message to the number equivalent of 'SUNNY'. shibxrogane To: 78669 are you enjoying the books? can i meet you at the beach? He had some questions for Sunny but stopped to give Violetta a soothing pet before he stepped out of the house (Jeremiah's house *cough*) to head for his car.

Algie blinked at the crude drawing that he was fairly positive was a magic 8 ball.. or a magic bowling ball.. "At least it's an answer.." The author muttered to himself. He wouldn't end up screaming on the beach for her like the last time. He arrived at the beach after a short drive and was determined, even with his questions, not to end up making deals for answers. He'd rather go without information than sacrifice something else of himself. Algie felt for the pocket sized umbrella in his pocket (just in case) and headed for where he usually found Sunny.

It was a sunny day, which wasn't ironic at all, and Sunny was sitting loose-limbed on the breakwater with Zac's old stuffed panda in her arms. She was brooding, which was not a common state for her, and one could practically see the dark clouds over her head. "Hey," she said, when she heard Algie approach. "What d'you want?"

Whatever he'd been immediately going to ask, whatever slight uneasiness or annoyance he had surrounding her, seemed to twist slightly at her obvious poor mood and what was so obviously Zac's old panda. She almost seemed to darken the area around her. "Just wanted to talk but uh-" He adjusted his glasses and approached with polite concern, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," she said. "What do you want?"

"I did actually just want to talk. I was wondering how you liked the books.. and I had some questions.." He repeated. Algie sighed at himself for being fooled into thinking a moment she may be slightly human, "But I can leave you alone if you don't want company."

Sunny shook her head. "No. It's okay." She patted the stone wall next to her, then tucked her hands back inside the panda's worn plush stomach. "They're good," she said. "I want to start calling Jeremiah 'honey badger'."

Algie laughed, "You should- I gave him a key chain a few years ago that he still uses." Besides the face that in the books 'The Bulldog' had yet to become 'The Honey Badger' in the novels yet, it would be in the next series, but somehow that she knew didn't surprise him. She wasn't human and he had no idea what she was.... "He still plays on that he doesn't know what character is based on him." Algie sat himself on the wall, shifting on his palms to slide back an inch or two, "Probably will keep on it until I say it straight out..." But he won't. They both knew Jeremiah was aware, but it was more fun this way. It of course now reminded him of Jeremiah's most recent deal, but that was the other man's responsiblity to handle at this point. Not his. And he was not going to further upset Sunny on his own. "I ended up back there again." Algie looked out at the water, "I saw Heliodora and saw some things in books."

"I guess," said Sunny, pulling absently on Tenebrous's ears. "Or maybe he will never acknowledge it. He's got his pride." She kicked a sand clump, breaking it. "Yeah?" She put her cheek on Tenebrous's head, violet eyes on Algernon's face. "What'd you see?"

"Memories. Doe and Heliodora, deciding to go become the crown, sword and stars..." He tilted his head to look at her also, glancing over his glasses, "When Heliodora was given the sachet." Algie looked back out at the water, "And then Heliodora and you arguing.. here on the beach. You telling her you wanted them to be free-" The professor sighed and he was so very calm about all of this compared to when she'd first met him, "Heliodora barely remembers something from so long ago. I suppose I was looking for your perspective."

"I'm so tired of trying to save them," said Sunny. She closed her eyes. She opened them again. Her hair hung lankly over her shoulders, an oil slick in color and texture. "I'm so tired."

"But they always choose to go." It wasn't said like a question, more a statement, because it was what Heliodora had told him. "If you knew they were there- and why- Why send anyone to get them back? And why are you static?" Why did she seem to persist through however many cycles it's been that those kid's have followed the same footsteps?

Sunny's eyes flooded with tears that she blinked back, and she looked back out to the water. "Because I don't know why they're there," she said, voice muffled by the panda. "I don't know why I live so long. I don't know any of that. I'm sorry. I just want them to come home."

Algie frowned and held out his hand to be taken, for comfort more than anything. Now that he knew he could, he wondered if his magic worked on her as well. He hardly enjoyed liked watching a young woman cry, or something that looked like one. "If they come home... what would happen?" Wouldn't the darkness be free? Did Sunny want that? "What happens when they stay?" It had apparently happened before and Sunny had seen it.
